Changes were made after Lynn’s 5-0 drubbing last week.
Kegan Everington started following his arrival from Lincoln City and Chris Ward made his first team debut for the season.
Missing was Sam Gaughran with an arm injury and Lee Smith who has moved on to Histon.
Lynn dominated the first half an a difficult, boggy pitch with the Blues not getting their first chance on goal until the 40th minute.
It was the best possible start for Ian Culverhouse’s Walks debut as manager when they took the lead in the third minute.
A good build-up down the right saw the ball put into the area and after scrappy play the ball fell to Shaun McWilliams who stabbed home, the ball tricking into the net with visiting ’keeper Nial Cooper seemingly unsighted.
Lynn continued to threaten, particularly down the right where Jacek Zielonka looked impressive throughout.
Sam Warburton went close to getting on the end of one of Zielonka’s crosses and then Tom Ward headed wide from a corner, Kurtis Revan had a shot which many fans celebrated as a goal but the ball ended hitting the top of the net.
Zielonka then hit the side netting with a viscous shot.
The visitors did recover towards half time with a couple of wayward shots from Justin Marsden and then William Grocott broke through but Chris Ward, whose last first team appearance was some two years ago, produced a good block.
Whilst the game may have lacked quality it did not lack endeavour.
A scrappy start to the second half came to life on 63 minutes when Tom Ward rose to meet Michael Clunan’s corner to give the defence and ’keeper no chance, Lynn’s 50th leagiue goal of the season.
Zielonka tried a chip Cooper but his shot was just too strong whilst Barry Fitzharris had a rising shot for the visitors which just cleared the Lynn bar.
