8 May 2006
Tommy Taylor will be staying at The Walks for another season, remaining, as he has since he joined the club, on a non-contract basis. The budget for the 2006-07 season is unchanged from that of the season just gone.
Taylor knows the identities of three to four players who wishes to sign during the summer which includes a goal keeper, left back, midfielder and goal scoring front man. Mark Angel and Lee Charles will not be making a return to The Walks next season whilst some of the current squad of players will depart in search of better deals elsewhere but all have been invited back for pre-season.
Transfer target and former Lynn favourite Glen Fuff, looks unlikely to join as he is happy at Milton Road Another possible signing has been named as Fola Onibuje, was Cambridge United's top scorer last season, albeit with 11 goals, but has been told he can leave the Abbey Stadium. The Lagos born 21 year old was previously with Peterborough.
The decision on which league Lynn will play in, the Northern or Southern Premier should be known around the 12th May. With Corby and Stamford being promoted, Lynn have a few more "local" derbies to anticipate next season - assuming the clubs are allocated the same league.

King's Lynn 1 Chippenham Town 3
Lynn's dreams of Conference football have been put on hold for another year after they crashed out to two soft goals and a controversial penalty in a match they should have sewn up by half time. Lynn made four changes from the team the played Bath City and had a perfect start when Grant Cooper scored from the penalty spot in the second minute after Matt Nolan had been fouled.
Chippenham, however, came back into the match on 18 minutes when Ian Herring scored from the spot - Jack Defty being controversially penalised after what appeared to be a player running into him.
Ian Harvey 's soft header on 40 minutes gave the visitors the lead and a Ross Adam header eight minutes into the second half.
Lynn's cause took a turn for the worse when Cooper was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
The shots-on-target count was 9-3 in Lynn's favour but it is The Bluebirds who live to fight for Conference football whilst Lynn will look to May 10-11 for the decision to be made on which Premier Division they will compete in next season.

King's Lynn 0 Bath City 2
There can be no excuses for this result.
Bath City manager John Relish was good to his word in not fielding a full strength team which was reduced to ten men on 27 minutes - but still Lynn only managed a couple of shots that required the visiting keeper to make any kind of effort.
Lynn started brightly - but that was for the opening couple of minutes.
The Romans took the lead on six minutes when John Higgs spilled a shot and Scott Rogers was on hand to score.
From then on play became scrappy with the visitors lively in attack despite having their leading scorer on the bench whilst Lynn lacked pace, energy and commitment.
Shaun Carey shot over on 17 minutes but Lynn saw few glimpses of the visitors goal.
When Adrian Harris was sent off for a high tackle on Dean West it looked as if this might be Lynn's chance - and they did up the tempo of the game but had little to show for their efforts.
On 34 minutes an Adam Smith shot was blocked and Cedric Anselin was presented with a perfect chance on the follow-up - but his shot hit the legs of Jack Defty.
This really summed up Lynn's day.
The second half saw more of the same - Lynn pressing forward but failing to break down the ten men who always looked dangerous on the counter attack.
Shaun Carey who, along with Adam Smith, was probably the only player to put in a satisfactory performance, headed over on 58 minutes.
On 61 minutes Lynn went further behind. A poor punched clearance from Higgs and with Mark Camm down injured, Walsh was the first to react and he headed home with ease.
Danny Hammond went close with an effort after the visiting keeper lost the ball in a challenge.
Lynn had chances after that but few worthy of note. Chris Astley did well to smother at Carey's feet in one of the few times the City custodian he was called upon.
Adam Smith and Matt O'Halloran had efforts that were either high or wide but Lynn were well beaten and must now concentrate on Monday's game with Chippenham and hope that Bedford can get a result at Bath which would give Lynn a play-off final on home soil.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Hammond (Peters), Camm (C Defty), Anselin (Charles), Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran.

Mildenhall Town 3 Lynn Reserves 2
Lynn Reserves ended their season with defeat against Mildenhall Town who fielded three former Lynn players.
Tom English gave the home side the lead on 20 minutes having been set up by Chris Bacon and they went two up early in the second half following a penalty.
Wayne Goddard scored from the sport after Tom English had been tugged back.
Former Lynn keeper Ben Nower made a hash of a clearance after a mix up with his defender and Dominic Dwyer was on hand to take advantage.
On the hour Dwyer scored again - this time a looping header beating a stranded Nower.
With five minutes remaining Tom English won the points for the home side, turning in Miles' low cross to lob McNally.

King's Lynn 2 Cirencester Town 1
Lynn completed the double over Cirencester but, in the first half in particular, didn't look like the team that had ambitions for finishing in second place in the league.
Perhaps it was the thought of the play-offs or the game next Saturday but the first half was something of a low key affair with the visitors quite enterprising in attack.
Lynn took the lead on nine minutes when Matt O'Halloran was on hand to put in a shot just inside the post having been set up by Jack Defty.
Cirencester were level on 18 minutes when Scott Griffin scored direct from a free kick.
The rest of the half was reasonably even with Lynn contriving to miss a number of chances.
Jack Defty went just wide on 21 minutes and then shot weakly on 29 minutes after Matt Nolan had lead a Lynn break.
On 43 minutes a double save from Centurians keeper Paul Thompson denied McMahon and then Anselin.
A minute later and Jack Defty saw his one-on-one with the visiting keeper saved.
On the restart it was John Higgs who was first in action, punching an Neil Arndale effort over for a corner in the 47th minute.
Lynn retook the lead three minutes later when Nolan was on hand to score from a
rebound after McMahon had seen an effort hit the upright.
Scott Griffin went just wide on 53 minutes but Lynn began to dominate.
On 61 minutes Jack Defty muscled his way past two challenges before being felled on the edge of the area.
Adam Smith's free kick hit the keeper and bounced down off the bar before being cleared.
Matt Nolan forced a good save on 79 minutes but the game began to peter out as a contest.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Hammond, Camm, J Defty (Hyde 66), Anselin (C Defty h-t), Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran (Charles h-t).

Grantham Town 0 King's Lynn 1
A 24th minute goal decided this match which moved Lynn up to second in the table but will not live long in the memory.
An Adam Smith cross was met by the head of Matt Nolan but Richard Weale was on hand to clear the effort off the line - but he only managed to hit the back of
grounded Gingerbread's keeper
Mario Zicardi and the ball rebounded into the net.
Other than that there were few memorable moments in a game littered with fouls
but referee Mr McIntosh seemed tolerant of these but far less tolerant of dissent which culminated in the dismissal of
Sam McMahon on 75 minutes for a second bookable offence.
Lynn did hit the bar midway through the second half from an Adam Smith effort whilst the only effort worthy of the name from Grantham came from Jason Turner - but John Higgs dived to his left to save.
Grantham never seemed up for the game and only applied real pressure once Lynn had been reduced to ten men but even then could not get a shot on target.
The attendance, 523, was Grantham's highest of the season.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Hammond, Camm, J Defty, Anselin (C Defty), Nolan (Charles), Carey, O'Halloran (Hyde).
15 April 2006
King's Lynn 2 Banbury United 0
Lynn gained revenge over The Puritans for defeats earlier in the season and returned to winning ways with a deserved victory.
The margin should have been greater but for some poor finishing but two goals from Jack Defty - bringing his total to 49 for the club - saw Lynn comfortably home.
On 19 minutes a quickly taken Sam McMahon free kick set up Jack Defty but with just the keeper to beat he saw his shot go for a corner.
It was from this that Jack Defty scored - the home defence failing to clear the danger and Defty trying an overhead bicycle kick which found the net.
Banbury almost scored from the restart with the ball going straight across the Lynn goal with no one on hand to either clear the ball or finish.
Banbury's chances were, however, few and far between with those shots that were on goal being easily handled by John Higgs.
The second half saw Lynn continue to dominate and miss chances and when they were on target, such as from
West's header - the ball was cleared off the line y Tommy Kinch.
On 76 minutes a Cedric Anselin corner found the head of Jack Defty to put the result beyond doubt.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper (Hammond 68), Camm, Defty (Charles 81), Anselin, Nolan (Hyde 84), Carey, O'Halloran. Unused subs: Harvey, Peters
Banbury: Foster, Pond, Kinch, Sullivan, Saulsbury, Fuller, Stanbridge (Bridges 74), Lamb, Blossom (Redknap 63), Baird (Gooderick 45), Lazarus. Unused subs: Tricker.

8 April 2006
King's Lynn 0 Merthyr Tydfil 3
Lynn welcomed back Grant Cooper from injury but were without Sam McMahon and slumped to their heaviest home league defeat since the visit of Histon, a few days short of a year ago.
Lynn started brightly with Adam Smith hitting the upright with a 25 yard shot on 7 minutes but it was the visitors who took the lead on 11 minutes. Michael Fowler easily skipping through the Lynn defence saw his shot parried by Aaron Benstead and Gary Shephard was on hand to finish.
Lynn continued to look dangerous going forward but too many opportunities ended with passes going astray or the final touch missing. Adam Smith probably had more shots on goal than the rest of the Lynn team put together but it wasn't Lynn's day.
Hopes that a Tommy Taylor half-time "talking to" might improve things were raised when Cooper put a shot just wide on 48 minutes and then Lynn had the ball in the back of the net on 67 minutes when substitute Lee Charles tapped in a Nolan cross at the far post but the effort was ruled offside.
The match was put beyond doubt on 71 minutes when Shephard went past Stephen Harvey to score Merthyr's second.
Two minutes later Paul Keddle scored the third when he was given far too much room to run and shoot from some 20 yards.
The match was summed up in the last few minutes when a Mark Camm shot was cleared by a Lynn player.
There was some consolation in results elsewhere but this was a far from inspiring Lynn performance.
Lynn: Benstead (Higgs 20), West, Smith, Harvey, Cooper (Peters 65), Camm, Defty, Anselin, Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran (Charles 58). Unused subs: Hyde, Hammond.

King's Lynn 1 Salisbury City 3
Wayne Turk gave Salisbury the lead on 5 minutes with a 20 yard right footer
after Shaun Carey had bungled a clearance. Three minutes later Lynn were level
when a high dipping cross-cum-shot was not properly claimed by visiting keeper
Kevin Sawyer, the goal being awarded to Matt Nolan - Jack Defty's final touch
being after the ball has crossed the line.
On-loan Swindon striker Ashan Holgate was on hand to score for The Whites
on 28 minutes heading home following a disputed corner kick from Luke Prince.
In a tactical switch Danny Hammond was introduced to replace Stephen Harvey to
add height to the Lynn defence with Dean West switching to full back.
Cedric Anselin forced a block from Sawyer in the opening seconds of the second
half but it was the visitors who were to score - Wayne Turk putting them 3-1 up
with a left foot shot from a tight angle on 54 minutes.
The game never lived up to its first half pace with Salisbury's big experienced
team telling and justifying their position at the top of the league.
Attempts on goals for either side were few and far between - but unfortunately
the visitors converted theirs as, too often, Matt Nolan was the lone figure up
front.
On the night Salisbury, though perhaps not deserving of their half time lead,
were the better team.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Harvey (Hammond 28), Camm, Defty, Anselin
(Peters 77), Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran (Hyde 62). Unused Subs: Hyde, Charles

Lowestoft Town 2 King's Lynn Reserves 0
Goals by Jamie Stokeld on 13 minutes and a 34 minute
header from Jamie Godbold and gave the home side a deserved half time lead
and although Lynn Reserves came more into the game in the second they could not
score.
1 April 2006
Mangotsfield United 1 King's Lynn 3
Lynn took the lead on 2 minutes with a goal from Grant Cooper following an Adam
Smith corner which had seen Dean West's effort blocked on the line.
After that the home side took the initiative for the rest of the first half as Lynn produced anything but championship form as they battled the elements in addition to the home side.
Two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half secured the points for Lynn.
On 49 minutes Matt Nolan lobbed keeper for his 12th goal of the season and seven minutes later Sam McMahon added a third when a home defender ballooned his clearance.
Despite the home side losing their keeper to injury. Lynn failed to add to the score and the home side managed a late consolation with 5 minutes remaining through Casey.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper (Harvey 58), Camm, Defty (Charles
47), Anselin, Nolan (Hammond 56), Carey, O'Halloran.
Unused Subs: Peters, Higgs
Norwich United 0 King's Lynn Reserves 2
Two goals in the last three minutes in the wind spoilt game gave Lynn the points.
On 87 minutes Luke Fell's corner was headed home by Lee Hyde and then in the 90th minute Fell put his name on the score sheet when
he forced the ball home from close range.
There was still time for Adam Jones to be dismissed for a second yellow
after a clash with United's Adam Smith.29 March 2006
Lynn Reserves 1 Dereham Town 1
Lynn Reserves completed the home league programme with a draw against their
rivals from just along the A47.
Lee Hyde headed Lynn in front on 36 minutes but Dereham equalised from the
penalty spot on 65 minutes - Graham Barrett converting the kick awarded for a
handball offence. Att: 124
25 March 2006
King's Lynn 3 Northwood 2
Lynn went joint top of the table but made hard work of this win over the relegation strugglers.
Lynn dominated the opening exchanges with Anselin and O'Halloran both missing early chances and this remained the pattern for the first half.
Lynn had the possession but too often final passes went astray and chances were missed.
On 34 minutes Lynn were awarded a penalty - much to the surprise of the home crowd, but Matt Nolan's kick was saved by Rob Bullivant.
Sixty seconds later, however, Lynn took the lead when a Jack Defty, Sam McMahon moved resulted in the ball finding Grant Cooper who calmly put the ball over the head of Bullivant.
Three minutes before the break, howveer, the visitors pulled a goal back.
A corner on the Lynn left was not cleared and a Frazer Tomms shot hit the Lynn bar before falling to James Shipperley to score.
Two goals in the space of four minutes at the start of the second half seemed to have put the result beyond doubt.
Straight from the kick off the ball went to Nolan on the Lynn left and his cross found Matt O'Halloran to score.
Three minutes later a Jack Defty cross found Matt Nolan on the right and he shot across Bullivant to put Lynn 3-1 up.
Lynn continued to dominate but squandered a number of chances before Dean Clark bought Northwood back into the game.
Peter Dean was allowed to juggle the ball in the Lynn box and the ball eventually fell to Dean Clark who put the ball over Aaron Benstead.
Northwood applied pressure in the final minutes but Lynn held on.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty, Anselin (Charles), Nolan (Hammond), Cary, O'Halloran.

Ipswich Wanderers 1 King's Lynn Reserves

A first half goal from Dean Tournay-Godfrey decided this game. Duncan McNally only half cleared the ball under a challenge from Rene Swann and when the ball came back it found
Tournay-Godfrey who side-footed home with everyone waiting for the still
retreating Swan to be given offside.
Stannard, in the home goal, denied a 30 yard Chris West free kick just before
half time and McCallum forced another finger tip save just before end.
Adam Smith has put pen to
paper as manager Tommy Taylor has started to build a squad for next season.
22 March 2006
Cambridge City Reserves 1 King's Lynn Reserves 1
A Phil Stebbing 18 yard effort put the home side ahead in the first half but a 75th minute looping header from Lee Hyde saw Lynn stretch their unbeaten run to five games.
18 March 2006
Tiverton Town 1 King's Lynn 2
Lynn took the lead on 9 minutes when a defence splitting pass from Adam Smith found Matt Nolan in space who gave former Wisbech keeper Mark Ovendale no chance.
There was little goal action in the first half - the home side possibly edging possession but Lynn's defence were rarely troubled.
Tiverton continued to apply pressure in the second half but poor defending allowed Lynn to increase their lead on 51 minutes - McMahon finding Matt Noland to score from 12 yards.
The home side should have got back into the game on 64 minutes but shot over when well placed.
Jack Defty had a long range effort off target and Matt Nolan hit the upright before Chris Holloway scored for the home side with four minutes remaining when he was on hand to force home after Aaron Benstead had dropped a cross.
Lynn: Bestead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty (Hammond), Anselin, Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran (Charles). Subs: Peters, Harvey, Higgs.

Lynn Reserves 3 Halstead Town 1 Lynn Reserves improved form continued with a victory over Halstead - the margin of which could have been much greater but for
the form of the visiting keeper, the metalwork and some wayward shooting.
Simon Bush hit the Halstead upright before Halstead took the lead on 16 minutes.
Lynn had chances to get back in the game including a penalty that was saved before Lee Hyde headed home from a free kick three minutes before half time.
Two minutes into the second Lynn took the lead through Liam Forshaw and Simon Bush added a third midway through the half.
16 March 2006
Lynn received a seven day notice of approach for striker Matt Nolan from AFC
Wimbledon late on Tuesday but the club have rebuffed the move and the 24 year old will be staying at the club until the end of the current season and possibly beyond.
Nolan and defender Adam Smith have both been offered contracts for next season.
A statement issued by the club said, "The circumstances of the approach are
currently under investigation".
11 March 2006
Rugby Town 0 King's Lynn 3
Lynn gained the first ever points when visiting the present incarnation of Rugby Town thanks to a 15 minute spell
in the second half which gave them a deserved victory and moved Lynn up to third place in the table.
It was a lively opening for the visitors with the first corner being forced in
the first minute. The home side were denied by Grant Cooper clearing a free kick
off the line in an fast paced opening.
Lynn had the better of the first half but saw few efforts on target.
Home keeper Farhad Afandiyev was caught well outside of his goal on two occasions in the first half but each time
Lynn could not get advantage.
He then did well to deny Nolan by tipping over just before the break.
The second half saw Lynn continue to dominate without seriously troubling the home keeper.
Then the breakthrough Lynn had been threatening came on the hour.
An Adam Smith corner was not cleared and Dean West shot home.
Two minutes later and a free kick found Delroy Gordon but his header was well saved by Benstead and the resulting break saw Nolan run through. Forced wide he
managed to feed Anselin whose shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced onto the goaline before being cleared.
The home defence whose blocking and closing down tactics had worked well in the first half, were now allowing Lynn to find space
and the chances were coming thick and fast.
Lynn went two up on 72 minutes when Sam McMahon saw his shot hit an upright before rolling across goal and over the line.
Two minutes later and Jack Defty added a third: finding himself in space he produced a delightful chip over the advancing 'keeper.
Lynn had chances to score further goals but had to settle for what was another important win on away soil and cleansheet number 13 of the league campaign.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty (Hammond) , Anselin, Nolan, Cary, O'Hallohan (Charles). Unused Substitutes: Peters, Harvey, Higgs

Lynn Reserves 2 Kirkley 2
A penalty just before the break from Liam Forshaw gave Lynn a half time lead but
t was the visitors who did most of the second half attacking.
On 55 minutes a Robbie Lawrence free kick found the head of Leon Harewood who
put the scores level. Simon Bush restored Lynn's lead against the run of play
but the visitors got a deserved equaliser in injury time. Another set iece was
Lynn's undoing, this time Lawrence's free kick finding Carl Chenery who scored
at the second attempt.

Other fixture changes see the trip to Milton Road, Cambridge being brought forward to Wednesday 22 March and the season now ending with a trip to Mildenhall on Tuesday 25 April.
4 March 2006
King's Lynn 2 Chesham United 0
At this stage in the season results matter rather than performances - and when playing against a side threatened with relegation, it is always going to be a battle.
Chesham's no-nonsense, spoiling tactics were what one might expect and it was up to Lynn to grind out a result - and this they did thanks to a goal late in each half.
The visitors soon tested Benstead in the Lynn goal but his double save on six minutes was the most asked of him during the entire match.
Lynn's early chances were inspired by O'Halloran on Lynn's left but an uncompromising defence snuffed out any clear cut chances whilst the visitors' frenquent calls upon the trainer frustrated the Lynn crowd.
Lynn began to get on top and the Chesham tackles began to get tougher - Chemlal was booked for a foul on Jack Defty and as lucky to escape a second booking when repeating the offence ten minutes later.
Chesham lost the services of 'keeper Paul McCarthy who was replaced by Andy Brown.
It was Brown who saved from O'Halloran in the last minute of the first half but in the resulting scramble Sam McMahon
headed the ball home.
Lynn dominated the early stages of the second half but were still finding it difficult to get a clear shot on goal.
Dean West just missed a corner at the far post on the hour as it began to look as if Lynn were happy to settle for a 1-0 victory.
With five minutes remaining, Jack Defty robbed a defender and his crossfield pass found Matt O'Halloran who put the ball in the opposite corner of Brown's net.
With results elsewhere going Lynn's way, Lynn move to second in the table but could well be back to fourth by 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Clacton Town 0 King's Lynn Reserves 0

21 February 2006
King's Lynn 3 Chippenham Town 1
Adam Smith failed a fitness test for this game against second placed Chippenham - a team that had stayed overnight in preparation for this game. Stephen Harvey was drafted in as a replacement. The visitors had the first opportunity when Herring blazed over. Matt Nolan went close as Lynn applied pressure.
Grant Cooper gave Lynn a 7th minute lead, his first goal for the club, nodding home from a Cedric Anselin corner as Lynn applied early pressure with Matt Nolan going close shortly before this.
Steve Perrin pulled of a magnificent save to deny a Matt Nolan header on 17 minutes as Lynn applied more pressure. On 23 minutes Matt Nolan laid the ball back to Jack Defty whose rocket of a shot gave Lynn a 2-0 lead.
Mark Badman went close for The Bluebirds on 32 minutes as Chippenham tried to get back into the game.
Sam McMahon hit the Chippenham bar with 4 minutes to half time.
Dean West cleared off the line as Lynn came under pressure at the beginning of the second half.
Lynn defended deeply, relying on pumping the ball forward, as they failed to match their first half performance.
Rawlins shot over from 12 yards with 18 minutes remaining as Chippenham applied the pressure but had limited chances on goal.
Gary Thorne deservedly pulled a goal back from three yards following a free kick.
Benstead saved well from Rawlins as Lynn lived dangerously.
Jack Defty restored the two goal margin with 13 minutes remaining - a through ball from Carey setting up Defty who beat keeper Perrin twice before finishing.

Team Bath 1 King's Lynn 3
Matt O'Halloran gave Lynn the lead in the 19th minute when Jack Defty's header was knocked back across the home goal by Nolan and O'Halloran struck from 12 yards.
Lynn had further first half chances through Jack Defty, put through by a delicate Nolan chip into to the box, and Shaun Carey, who made a good break down the right wing before shooting wide.
The lead was increased by Matt Nolan on 52 minutes when O’Halloran swept down the right wing and pulled back for Nolan to strike. Team Bath pulled a goal back through substitute Adams who headed home a 64th minute corner but Lynn restored the two goal margin three minutes later. Nolan claiming the goal which was deflected off his chest from a Jack Defty header.
The home side applied some late pressure which cost Lynn bookings for Cooper and O'Halloran but Lynn held on to keep their 100% record against the students in tact.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith (Harvey), McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty (Charles), Anselin (Jones), Nolan, Carey, O'Halloran. Unused Subs: Peters, Hammond.
15 February 2006
Lynn have signed striker/midfielder Lee Charles on a two week trial.
Charles, who was released by Worthing last month, began his career in Yeading's Youth team and then went to
Chertsey before moving to QPR in August 1995 for a £67,500 fee.
He made 17 appearances there, scoring once, and spent time on loan to Barnet and Cambridge United before joining Hayes where he scored 30 goals in 45 appearances.
He then spent two years at Nuneaton and followed this with another two at Aldershot - leaving there in July 2004.
Next stop was Weymouth and the following season St Albans, then Worthing where he made twelve appearances (with a period on loan to Windsor & Eton).
Lee was a member of the England semi-professional international squad throughout the 2000/01 season although he made his debut against Italy in March 1999.
14 February 2006
In the friendly Lynn defeated Haverhill Rovers 5-1 with a Jack Defty
hat trick and goals from Danny Hammond and an own goal.
11 February 2006
King's Lynn 1 Yate Town 0
This game was probably spoilt before it started.
An injury to Yate keeper Tony Court in the warm-up, and no substitute keeper, meant that the visitors started with
centre forward Darren Edwards in goal and this, possibly, accounted for the away sides spoiling tactics as they
chased, closed down and harried Lynn at every opportunity and as a result there were few efforts on goal.
In fact it was Yate who had the first corner and the first shot which went somewhere near goal but it was Lynn
who applied most of the pressure.
Yate's determination to stop Lynn trying out their stand-in keeper had a price - free kicks.
On 30 minutes Scott Brice was booked for a foul on Matt O'Halloran and Sam McMahon's free kick got the slightest
touch from Matt Nolan's head to put Lynn one up.
Lynn had a chance to increase their lead two minutes later but O'Halloran's cross was met by Stephen Harvey who
could get the right direction on his header.
O'Halloran was, perhaps, unlucky to be judged offside when he broke through but real chances were few and far
between.
O'Halloran had another chance in the opening minute of the second half but a single handed save from Edwards put the ball over for a corner,
but the second half had even less incident than the first.
Chenoworth and Campbell were also booked for the visitors in a game which was bad tempered at times.
Five minutes from time saw an incident more readily associated with park football when Yate changed keepers -
leading scorer Edwards moving upfront and substitute midfielder Christian Sylvestor taking over in goal.
It was a change that Yate could have made earlier as Lynn were seldom getting their shots on target.
Matt Nolan did have one effort which went wide of Sylvestor's far post but this was a match that will not
live long in the memory - but three points and a clean sheet are all important at this time in the season.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Peters (Heath-Preston), Carey, Nolan, Harvey (C Defty),
O'Halloran (Hammond).

The glowing embers of the Danny Bloomfield saga may have been extinguished
following another statement from Histon.
"The board of Histon Football Club feel it necessary to respond to the
statement issued by King's Lynn FC over the sale of Danny Bloomfield.
"The board of Histon FC would like to express their disappointment at
what appears to be an attempt by KLFC to imply matters concerning the sale of
Danny Bloomfield have been misrepresented by HFC. "It would also like to
point out that the statement issued by the team manager of Histon FC was in no
way done to embarrass KLFC or provoke their fans but that HFC felt they had done
a good piece of business by finally landing the services of a player who they
thought had got away or that they would have to compete for in the summer.
"HFC feel it is important that their fans are aware that the upfront fee
paid was not in excess of £5,000. "While the deal allows for the
potential of further payments to King's Lynn based on the performance and, if it
took place, the sale of Danny in the future, it would be wrong to include a
speculative figure which could be nil." Chairman Gareth Baldwin said: "It
is likely that KLFC will be in the Conference next year which could provide us
with a great local derby. "I really hope that is the case and I certainly
do not want any bad feelings in the board room or among the fans and so hope
this brings the matter to a close."
There were no statements from Lynn on this occasion other a "wish a line to be drawn under the whole affair."

Chippenham Town 1 King's Lynn 1
A last minute Dean West goal gave Lynn their first ever league point against The
Bluebirds.
The first half saw chances at both ends with the home side dominating the
opening stages but with Lynn weathering the storm and producing chances of their
own with Nolan netting just before half time but the goal being disallowed as
Jack Defty was ruled offside - although arguably he was not interfering with
play at the time.
Chances were at a premium in the second half with Lynn's best falling to a Matt
Nolan shot and a Stephen Harvey header which were both denied by Chippenham
keeper Steve Perrin whilst
Aaron Benstead did well to save a Sam Allison header.
The deadlock was eventually broken in the 76th minute when Allison's cross found
the head of Dave Gilroy.
Lynn pressed forward and their efforts were rewarded in the second minute of
injury time when Dean West was on hand after the home side had failed to clear a
corner.

King's Lynn Reserves 1 Lowestoft Town 5
Defensive errors resulted in Lynn's downfall. The visitors took the lead on
20 minutes when a poor clearance from McNally fell to Jamie Stokeld. The
resulting cross was then mis-punched by the Lynn keeper and fell to Jamie Goldbold
to score. On 31 minutes Lynn went two down to Gary McGee. Lynn had few chances
in the first half - the best being a Matty Peters shot on six minutes which was
saved by the Lowestoft keeper Andy Reynolds against the upright and then Dominic
Dwyer went close with a header just before half time.
On the hour Dean Miller was given a straight red card for bring down McGee just
outside the area and Russell Stock was on hand to score after Lynn failed to
clear the resultant free kick.
McGee then added a fourth on 66 minutes - tapping home after the ball had hit
the post and run along the line.
Goal number five came when McNally came out of his area to kick clear but the
ball fell to Russell Stock who shot home with ease.
A late consolation fell to Lynn in the 89th minute when Simon Bush headed home.

Danny Bloomfield Departs
The move of Danny Bloomfield from Lynn to Histon has been confirmed. It
comes less than a week after manager Tommy Taylor insisted is star players were
going nowhere and that Bloomfield "doesn't want to play his non-league football
anywhere else".
Perhaps rubbing salt into the wound for Lynn fans is a comment from the Histon manager Steve
Fallon saying "In anyone’s book to secure Danny is a
result but to get him for half what we offered in November is just very good
business for our club.”
Lynn were, however, quick to react to the statement.
“The club feels that it must respond to certain inaccuracies and what
can only be described as malicious gossip following Danny Bloomfield's transfer
to Histon FC,” the club said. “We wish it to be known that the fee agreed with
Histon was well in excess of £5,000.
“The fee will remain undisclosed as agreed with Histon but we dispute strongly
their claim that they have secured Danny's services for much less than their
stated initial bid back in November 2005.
“We would stress this is a club who claimed they had secured Danny services in
November 2005 only for him to remain at King's Lynn FC.
“Around a month ago Danny Bloomfield was offered a 12-month extension to his
current deal. That deal remains unsigned. Supporters must be aware had Danny
Bloomfield not signed a new deal this summer there would have been absolutely
nothing the club could have done to prevent him leaving by way of a tribunal
which would have considerably diminished his value. However, we wish to thank
Danny for his tremendous efforts for the club in his two spells here and we wish
him well at Histon."
The scorer of 16 goals from 31 starts this season, Bloomfield was linked with a move to Histon
in November and, more recently, was the subject of an approach from Cambridge United..
There is some consolation that Matt O'Halloran is not going out on loan
as previously suggested - but much of this season has been spent looking for
someone to partner in attack and no sooner is one found in the shape of Matt Nolan than a
search begins again.
Whilst O'Halloran is not going out on loan Mark Angel might be, with Stamford
and Grantham still possibilities.
The club stress in a statement that Danny's move is not a cost cutting
measure.
Not joining Lynn is Histon's Leon Gutzmore. He was rumoured to be part of
the deal taking Bloomfield to Histon in November - but he has joined Aylesbury.

Bath City 1 King's Lynn 1
Matt Nolan gave Lynn an ideal start with a goal after four minutes rounding Bath keeper Paul Evans. Seven minutes later Sam McMahon nearly made it two but his shot was blocked. Although Lynn were on top they were paying a price with first half bookings for Danny Bloomfield and Jack Defty - the latter will lead to a suspension in a couple of weeks.
A Scott Partridge effort ricocheted out to Tony Bird but his shot was well saved by Aaron Benstead in a rare Bath raid.
The second half continued in much the same fashion. Matt Nolan shot over and a mazy run on the hour by Jack Defty came to nothing. Phil Walsh just failed to connect for Bath City from six yards whilst at the other end a Matt Nolan effort was denied by the chest of Paul Evans.
On 74 minutes a Tony Bird free kick caused panic in the Lynn defence with the first shot blocked and the second cleared off the line - but this just found the head of Adie Harris who equalised for the home side from six yards. This gave The Romans new heart and Lynn found themselves under pressure but Lynn held on.
Lynn: Benstead, Jones, Smith, West, Camm, Anselin, J Defty, Harvey, Nolan (Peters), Bloomfield, McMahon. Unused Sub: Hammond
Not playing for Lynn was Grant Cooper who was sent home having missed an 8.30 am training session.
Bury Town 1 Lynn Reserves 1
Lynn Reserves welcomed back Simon Bush and had Mark Angel in the team in this deserved draw against high flying Bury. Lee Hyde made amends for conceding a penalty just before half time by heading home a free kick in the 54th minute. Steve McGavin scored from the spot for Bury.
24 January 2006
Bromsgrove Rovers 1 King's Lynn 0
A goal in the 56th minute from Paul Moore ended Lynn's defence of the League Cup after Aaron Benstead and the woodwork had kept the scores level in the first half.
Lynn were without Adam Smith (shin), Grant Cooper (head), Matt O'Halloran (flu) and Shaun Carey (calf) and then lost Danny Bloomfield when he was unable to run off an injury received from a tough first half tackle.
Rovers carved out the best chance of the first half in the 20th minute. Matt Johnson's cross was connected with by Smith and fell to Moore, who unleashed a fierce shot that was acrobatically turned away by goalkeeper Aaron Benstead.
On 39 minutes Johnson's free kick hit the bar whilst McMahon and Bloomfield had chances for Lynn.
On 56 minutes a Bromsgrove corner was hooked home by Moore.
Clarke, in the home goal, matched Benstead's heroics when tipping over Sam McMahon's chip in the 65th minute and then denied Jack Defty on 79 minutes.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Harvey (Fell, 67mins), McMahon, Peters, Jones, Camm, Anselin, Defty, Bloomfield (Heath-Preston, 57mins), Nolan (Hammond, 78mins). Subs not used McAnally. Att 135

Merthyr Tydfil 0 King's Lynn 1
During the whole of last season, Lynn managed four clean sheets away from
home, this hard fought victory at Merthyr was their sixth .
In a typical "game of two halves" Lynn were dominant in the first period and
under pressure in the second.
Jack Defty had a shot blocked on two minutes and a Matt Nolan effort saw on-loan
keeper Lee Worgan make a fine save five minutes later. Lynn won a number of
corners but could not find a way to goal while at the other end Merthyr's best
chance in early play came from a poor kick from Aaron Benstead but the Lynn
stopper redeemed himself by saving well from Craig Moses. It was Benstead who
created the winning goal, his long punt downfield forcing an error from the home
defence and Matt Nolan was on hand to shoot home from some 15 yards.
Merthyr should have been back on level terms some five minutes later but Dane
Williams missed an open goal from 5 yards.
Benstead was again in action just before half time - turning a Griffiths header
over.
Danny Bloomfield had two good chances in the second half but it was the home
side that applied the bulk of the pressure and Benstead was frequently in action
and, when he was beaten, Camm and Cooper were on hand to clear the danger.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Jones, Camm, Anselin, Defty,
Bloomfield, Nolan (Heath-Preston).
Lynn Reserves 1 Harwich & Parkeston 1
Dominic Dwyer had the best of the first half chances when he forced Harwich's
Adam Bond into a good save on 26 minutes.
It was Dwyer who gave Lynn the lead on 53 minutes when he sent in a superb shot
which gave Bond no chance. The lead only lasted three minutes, however. Harwich
equalising through Steve Townes following a mix up in the Lynn defence after a
long throw.

King's Lynn 2 Cheshunt 0
Lynn completed the double over Cheshunt without being stretched, two first half
goals by Matt Nolan deciding the game. Both sides had injury and suspension
problems going into this game but it was Lynn that always held the upper hand,
playing the better football and creating the most chances. Lynn's first chance
came as early as the third minute when Danny Bloomfield just failed to get the
final touch close in. Ex-Linnet Michael Deane put in a good cross from the left
on nine minutes but the resultant shot was easily held by Aaron Benstead who had
a very competent game in the Lynn goal without being tested to any degree. Jack
Defty and Danny Bloomfield then had shots just wide as Lynn began to
dominate. It was a little ironic, however, that both goals came after good
saves from Cheshunt keeper Michael Kalli. An Adam Smith shot on the half hour
saw Kalli pull of a diving save to push the ball around the post - but the resultant
O'Halloran corner was headed back
across goal by Jack Defty for Matt Nolan to score from close range.
Ten minutes later it was much the same again. This time it was an Adam Smith
free kick that required an acrobatic save with the ball being cleared for a Lynn
throw from which Matt Nolan put in a perfectly flighted cross-cum shot from 25
yards which found the corner of the net.
The second half was something of an anti-climax with Lynn never looking under
threat but failing to turn the screw. Matt Nolan had a chance to complete his
hat trick some five minutes before the end but was denied by Kalli's legs.
Lynn: Benstead, Jones, Smith, West, Cooper, Anselin (Harvey), Defty,
O'Halloran, Nolan, Bloomfield (Heath-Preston), Peters (Fell). Att: 820
Needham Market 3 Lynn Reserves 1
Two goals by ex-Linnet Matt Clements and one from Ross Crouch in a 13 minute period in the first half was enough
to give the home side revenge for their surprise defeat at The Walks earlier in the season.
Lynn pulled a goal back through Matt Niescierowicz three minutes before the break.
The margin of defeat might have been greater but for some excellent saves from Duncan McNally in the second half.
07 January 2006
Yate Town 3 King's Lynn 2
Late goals by Dean West and Adam Smith could not get Lynn a share of the points
as Lynn attempted a comeback from three goals down for the second week running.
Lynn were without Cooper, Anselin, Higgs and McMahon but had Adam Jones back
from suspension. Sims put the home side ahead on 13 minutes with a strike from
some 20 yards. On 19 minutes Lynn were two down. Benstead was booked for
bringing down a player outside the box and then pushed the resultant free kick
by Elsey into his own net. Lynn had their chances in the
first half with Bloomfield having the pick of them when he missed from close
range whilst at the other end Benstead was grateful for West who hacked clear
after the 'keeper had missed an attempted clearance. The re-signing did make
amends minutes later, however, when diving to deny Edwards.
Within five minutes of the restart Lynn were three down when Pritchard netted
from ten yards.
An unlikely Lynn revival started on 80 minutes when West headed in from a corner
and then a 25 yarder from Smith with five minutes remaining made for an exciting
finish.
Lynn: Benstead, West, Smith, Hammond (Harvey), Jones (Peters), Camm, Defty,
Carey, Nolan, Bloomfield, O'Halloran (Fell).
Fakenham Town 2 Lynn Reserves 1
Liam Forshaw gave Lynn an 13th minute lead, receiving the ball some 30
yards out before advancing and putting an unstoppable shot past ex-Lynn keeper
Steve Lewis.
It was another ex-Linnet who put the Ghosts back on terms - Robbie Palmer
scoring from the penalty spot after Keiron Doherty had been fouled.
On 58 minutes it was Kevin White who was fouled in the area and Robbie Palmer
once again put the ball past Duncan McNally for the deciding goal. Att: 132

Departing The Walks at his own request is Martin McNeil who has joined Wisbech. Martin made 12 appearances for Lynn this season - two as substitute.
Departing, probably on loan initially, is Mark Angel who is talking to Grantham, Mark only recently returned from a loan spell at Cambridge United but manager Tommy Taylor has made it clear in the local press that he will not feature in the Lynn first team again.
05 January 2006
Aaron Benstead has returned to The Walks. Aaron departed for Wealdstone in November as he was moving to London working as a fitness instructor. He made is debut in the 3-5 FA Trophy defeat at Folkestone Invicta in mid November - he was was Wealdstone's 5th "keeper" since September 24. After one further appearance ( a 3-1 win at Heybridge Swifts) he signed for Mildenhall Town. A product of the Cambridge City youth set-up, Aaron was Newmarket's Players' Player of the Year in the 2003-04 season. Aaron has made just the one appearance for Lynn this season - that as substitute in the Championship match against Histon at the start of the season but made some impressive appearances for the Reserves.
With John Higgs expected to be out for some four to six weeks Aaron will go straight into the squad for the match against Yate on Saturday.
02 January 2006
Banbury United 4 King's Lynn 2
Lynn lost John Higgs with a dislocated shoulder within eight minutes of the start and, with no substitute keeper available, Mark Camm took over in goal. However, Lynn were already two goals down at that time, Banbury scoring through Baird twice in the first eight minutes. Blossom scored in the last minute of the first half to give the home side a 3-0 lead. Lynn came back with goals from Shaun Carey (52) and Mark Heath-Preston (66) before Banbury killed off any hopes of a comeback with Gooderick scoring five minutes later.
Lynn: Higgs (Angel 14, (Fell 53)), West, Smith, McMahon, Harvey (Heath-Preston 45), Camm, Carey, Defty, Hammond, Bloomfield, Nolan. Subs (not used): O'Halloran, McNeil.
Booking: Defty.
Lynn Reserves 1 Leiston 1
Lynn Reserves should have been dead and buried by half time but somehow managed to gain a point from this match with an improved second half performance.
Leiston hit the upright in their first attack through McGlone and then ex-Linnet Stewart Roach squandered a 9th minute chance when he delayed shooting. The following minute Lynn had their only serious chance of the first half when a Troy Bond effort was cleared off the line. Roach then headed across goal and hit the opposing upright on 17 minutes and McGlone was just wide on 23 minutes. Lynn's luck ran out on
27 minutes when McGlone headed home following a free kick. White was Lynn's most prominent attacker in the first half with some good moves down the right flank including an impressive run which beat two players but no one was hand to provide the finish the move deserved.
Three minutes into the second half and McNally did well to save from McGlone but Lynn were getting more into the game. McNally performed a doubled save from McGlone and Roach before Lynn got their equaliser through 15 year old substitute Dominic Dwyer - his goal coming from close range following good work from Liam Forshaw and Troy Bond.
Three Leiston players found their names in referee's book as the game took an unpleasant turn. Lynn finished the stronger and deserved the point whilst Leiston were left to rue the missed opportunities.
Lynn: McNally, Gaughran, Buhlemann, Peters, Miller, Hyde, McCallum, West (Keegan), Forshaw, Bond, White (Dwyer). Att: 150
