Saturday 15th AugustGareth Sheldon,Owen Story and Ryan Beswick celebrate the opening goal
Lynn 1 Stocksbridge PS 3
Lynn's last stint in the Northern Premier League had seen them unbeaten on the opening day of the three seasons they competed in that league.
For the opening minutes of this season's campaign it looked as if that record might be maintained and all the talk and optimism of pre-season was going to be reflected in the result against the division's newcomers who had gained promotion via the play-offs.
On 4 minutes Gareth Sheldon put Lynn ahead from close range following Owen Story's cross from the right.
Any hopes that the visitors might fall apart with the early reverse and the thought of playing one of the pre-season favourites for promotion were short lived and Steels settled and gave warning of what was to come when Jamie Vardy stung the hands of Jason White on 28 minutes.
Ten minutes later the scores were level. Vardy was again the cause of Lynn's woes, easily finding space in the Lynn defence and crossing to Brian Cusworth score.
Lynn might claim to have spent more time in the opposition's half but after the break but few chances were created. Too often the long ball was deployed but not finding its man whilst at the back gaps were created.
When Lynn did get a shot on target it invariably straight at the visiting keeper. Three free kicks for good positions were wasted - two going off target whilst a third was easily saved low to the 'keepers right.
On 54 minutes Andy Ring put Steels ahead after Vardy had again sliced open the defence.
Vardy completed the scoring on 81 minutes leaving Lynn manager Karl Heggs to some up the game as "Shocking".
Lynn: White, Magunda, Murray (Martin 82), Johnson (Smith 58), McAughtrie, Boyce, Story, Lloyd, Sheldon, Birley, Beswick (Green 58). Subs (not used): Webb, Whatsize.
Stocksbridge: Scott, Green, Schofield, Dawson, Lovell, Hawes, Ring (Stirrup 75), Telling, Cusworth (Riley 48), Ward, Vardy. Subs (not used): Wilkinson, Cockerill, Hewitt.

Lynn Reserves 0 Debenham LC 2
Debenham won on their Ridgeons Premier debut but it was a result that flattered the visits.
Visiting substitute Keifer Bultitude got the goals in the last ten minutes of the game.
The first half was a even affair. On 20 minutes Tom McCarthy's cross gave Sam Darlow the best chance of the opening period for Lynn but the final touch alluded him.
Warren Taylor-Holt should have given the visitors the lead five minutes later but he failed to connect with just McAnally to beat.
Stephen Harvey hit the Debenham bar with a long range effort in the opening minutes of the second half but the resulting goalmouth scramble, one of a number that took place ion the visitor's goalmouth, was cleared. With ten minutes remaining Bultitude put Debenham ahead - a lead that was increased in the finally minutes when the ball, bouncing down from the bar, was adjudged to have crossed the line before coming out.
The visitor's line-up included former Linnet Ed Cussons.

Neil Featherby
King's Lynn football club can today confirm that Neil Featherby has resigned from his position as the club's director of football. Featherby served five months with the club but confirmed that he could no longer give as much time to the club as he wished.

"Anyone who knows me will tell you that if I'm involved in anything then I have to give it 100% and anything less is just not good enough. "King's Lynn Football Club certainly deserves nothing less. At this moment in time this is something regrettably and very disappointingly I cannot do. My business Sportlink has recently relocated which has taken up a considerable amount of time and along with all my other interests, especially the 3 boxers who I am involved with that have championship fights this year, for that I have to be fully committed to helping them in their quests.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Walks and if nothing else what an experience during an eventful few months.
"Going forward I wish Carl Heggs and Andy Johnson well in their new roles at the club especially having been instrumental in bringing Andy to the club in the first place.
"I do know that he cannot wait to get started in what is a great opportunity for him.
"I also wish the fans who are truly loyal and certainly patient the very best for the coming season and of course the directors and everyone else at the club particularly Ken Bobbins who for me works tirelessly for a cause that hopefully he will one day be rewarded with.
"I will still get along to as many games as I can and will continue to support the club indefinitely".

Today the KLFC Women travelled to North Walsham to play in the Norfolk & Ladies League Cup Finals Day. The squad performed superbly well leading up to the final where they took on Division 1 League Champions Norwich City Ladies.
The final proved to be a tight affair with King's Lynn taking the lead with 15minutes left through Lauren Garner. Norwich applied the pressure and nearly snatched a late equaliser but Selina Raines pushed the goal bound effort around the post.

Women's Head Coach Jess Ibrom said "The squad is playing its first season in senior women's football and have developed well as the season has progressed. To finish 3rd in the league and then win the cup today is a fantastic achievement. The girls have shown great commitment throughout the course of the season and fully deserved the win today. With the younger players coming through the KLCF Advanced Girls set-up the strength of the squad will only be enhanced next season."
