News from The Walks: September - December 2004
| 30 December 2004 | |
Lynn have signed 20 year old Michael Deane (b 31.10.84) from Ryman Premier club Leyton. Deane can either play wide or through midfield.
He has been a regular scorer with Leyton reserves this season (eleven goals) including one just ten seconds after kick-off.
He has also scored once for Leyton's first team this season for whom he has made four starts and 11 appearances as substitute.
He took part in Lynn's friendly match against Ely City on Thursday evening and scored twice.
Other Lynn scorers in a match that Ely once lead 2-1 but Lynn won 7-2 were: Danny Bloomfield, Carl Holmes, Chris Bacon, Liam Forshaw and James Wilson.
The Reserves Norfolk Senior Cup tie against Acle
United has been switched to Acle - the first team
entertaining Hednesford at The Walks on the same day.

Robbie Harris has gone on loan to Spalding United for a month.
Craig Fishlock has left the club - his contract being terminated by agreement.

Lynn 7 Solihull Borough 3
Three goals in the first 25 minutes saw Lynn on their way to a 6-2 half time
lead. Lynn opened the scoring on four minutes when Jack Defty headed home from
a Angel free kick. Goals in the 24 and 25 minutes seemed to put the result
beyond doubt. First came a 25 yarder from Carl Holmes having been
set up by Defty and then Jack Defty hitting past three defenders from a few
yards.
Mark Sheppherd pulled a goal back for Solihull and a repeat of the Hemel
scoreline began to look likely. George Georgiou, making his Lynn debut, seemed
to make his physical presence felt and on 35 minutes a quick upfield ball found
Georgiou who fed Danny Bloomfield to slide home.
Solihull pulled a further goal back after Lynn allowed the ball to go out thinking
it was a goal kick - but from the resultant corner Matt Hawker scored. Two minutes
later a Carl Holmes back header restored the three goal advantage and then
Georgiou again linked well with Bloomfield but this time the striker was upended,
Gary Setchell blasted home the resultant penalty and Solihull's Pete Barry was sent off.
The second half was something of an anti-climax with the players seeming more
interested in petty disputes rather than looking for a record breaking scoreline.
Rob Taylor scored number three for Solihull on 65 minutes and it was difficult
to tell which team were playing with the ten men as Lynn seemed to lack any
clear ideas. On 80 minutes Mark Angel was on hand to put home after a ball had
crossed the area but it was a poor second half performance.
Lynn team: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Matthews, Hammond, Camm, Defty (Fishlock), Holmes,
Georgiou (Bacon), Bloomfield, Angel (Blake). Unused Sub: Higgs. Att 804.

Manager Tommy Taylor has lined up Hemel Hampstead's 30 year old midfielder Paul Kelly a the latest transfer target whilst
Gravesend's Lee Shearer should be joining next week on loan having completed his current loan period with
Dover Athletic.
Meanwhile Liam Powell, for whom international clearance has been obtained, has not been in touch.
On the departure front, Robbie Harris has been the subject of approach from Spalding whilst the futures of Craig Fishlock and Lee Stevenson are to be discussed.
Having seen a specialist with regard his cruciate problem it appears that a further operation would only give a twenty per cent chance of Lee playing again.
|
| 16 December 2004 | |
Lynn have signed former Leyton Orient striker George Georgiou. The 32 year old (b.19.08.72) should be available for selection for Saturday's game against Solihull Borough.
Georgiou started this season with Walton and Hersham, having spent the previous season with Leyton.
He made three appearances for Walton this season, scoring against Bashley. Georgiou started his playing days with Wembley before moving into the full-time
game with Fulham and Orient. Following a successful spell in Cyprus with
Paralimon, Georgiou returned to enjoy spells with Purfleet (Thurrock), Enfield
and East Thurrock United before signing for Leyton in the summer of 2003.
Liam Powell should also be available for his debut whilst manager Tommy Taylor looks to line up Lee Shearer in a loan deal from Gravesend.
Grant Carney will not be joining Lynn.
Meanwhile the club has moved to dampen speculation that Tommy Taylor could be moving to the managerial vacancy at Cambridge United.
Whilst the media have linked the vacancy with many players and United have had Taylor's cv since the summer there have been no communication between the clubs.

Chesham United 0 Lynn 3
Goals by Danny Bloomfield, David Staff and Carl Holmes saw Lynn complete the double
over high riding Chesham United.
Lynn took the lead on 44 minutes when a Mark Angel/Danny Bloomfield move
resulted in a cross finding the head of Dave Staff who hit the bar and Danny
Bloomfield was on hand to stab home the rebound.
The goal of the game came on 61 when Carl Holmes scored his 50th goal for the club - this coming from some 20 yards after Chick and Bloomfield had combined and then Dave Staff rounded off the scoring
six minutes later when the home keeper was caught spending too long on the ball.
Lynn: Steve Wilson, Jones, Chick, Matthews, Hammond, Camm, Defty (Fishlock),
Holmes, Staff, Bloomfield (Bacon), Angel: Subs: James Wilson, Edwards,
Blake.
Att: 409
Lynn Reserves 1 Stowmarket Town 2
This was three points dropped and but for better finishing Lynn really should
have won this game with the visitor's clearing the ball off the goal line twice
in the first five minutes whilst Robbie Harris having a glaring miss when he had
time and just the keeper to beat.
Stowmarket had the one reasonable chance when they hit the bar after Buhleman lost possession. Lynn took the lead the lead five minutes into
the second half when Robbie Harris shot through a static defence but Stowmarket
equalised ten minutes later - Kevin Barker from the penalty spot after a hand
ball offence.
Further chances fell to Tom White and Robbie Harris but it was Tommy Smith who
found the net for the visitors in what was really only their third
serious scoring chance of the game.
Lynn: McNally, Harvey, Buhlemann, Burton, Palmer, Hyde, Redhead, Heath-Prestn,
Harris, Forshaw, White. Subs: Williams, McLeish, George, Keegan, Hunt. Att 123.

| 11 December | |
Lynn have signed Liam Powell a 19 year old right back, on non-contract terms - although he may never play.
The former Under-19 Welsh international is currently on trial at Boston United.
He ahs previously had trials with Newport County and had a spell with Grimsby.
Meanwhile David Staff has been recalled to Boston United for the Christmas
holiday as cover - although a further one month loan has not been ruled out for
the New Year.
Also leaving Lynn are Reserve players Ollie Savage and Sam Newsome.

Linnets chase Shearer
Lee Shearer that is.
Until the summer of 1998 former England Schoolboy
international Lee Shearer (b. 23.10.77) was on the books of Leyton Orient under Lynn manager Tommy Taylor, making some twenty appearances.
He made over a hundred appearances for Dover Athletic before moving on to Margate in June 2002 and then Gravesend in July 2003.
For the past two months he has been back with Dover Athletic - on loan.

Reserves Fogged Off
Lynn Reserves took their new found away form to the Wellesley to take on bottom of the table Yarmouth Town and were 1-0 up within five minutes.
Robbie Harris and Chris Bacon broke free of the square home defence and it was the latter that scored with ease.
Lynn were the dominant side and Nicky Blake went close with a swerving shot - but then the fog descended. After a wait of some ten minutes to see if the fog would clear the match was abandoned with 25 minutes on the clock.
Lynn: Higgs, Harvey, Buhlemann, Wilson, Palmer, Redhead, White, Chick, Harris, Bacon, Blake. Subs: Burton, Heath-Preston, Forshaw
More troubles for Stevenson
Midfielder Lee Stevenson received more bad news following a successful operation to remove a long-standing cyst
problem on his right knee when it emerged that the cruciate ligament damage - which sidelined him for the
majority of Lynn's championship-winning season – had failed to heal
properly. The former Sheffield Wednesday trainee is now preparing for the
worst after making an appointment to see the specialist who performed the
original surgery on December 17.

Lynn 6 Hemel Hempstead 3
At the beginning of the season it was said that the standard of the Premier Division would be generally higher
than that of last and that there would be no easy games.
This, however, although high scoring, was not a game of a high standard.
Hemel who were not only missing a manager but were also light of their regular keeper and some of their midfield.
Lynn were three up in seventeen minutes by virtue of a David Staff 4th minute free
kick, a Jack Defty 7th minute header and Danny Bloomfield (17 minutes).
The biggest surprise that there were no goals in the remainder of the first half, although Bloomfield went close with a looping
shot that went narrowly wide.
But what was served up was not scintillating stuff as Lynn resorted to the long ball.
There was a shock for Lynn six minutes into the second half when Hemel were awarded a
penalty follow a foul by Jones - Bryan Hammatt (51) converting.
Jack Defty restored Lynn's three goal lead but within a minute slack defending allowed Marcelle Bruce to make it 4-2.
Jack Defty completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes and Mark Angel ended a 40 yard run with a shot which went in off the upright.
Paul Kelly completed the scoring for Hemel with the goal of the day - a 30 yard effort
- but there was still time for Defty to miscue a shot when well placed.
Nine goals and three points - but this was against a team not at full strength - next week might be a sterner test.
Lynn: Stevie Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Matthews (James Wilson), Hammond, Camm, Defty (Bacon), Holmes (Fishlock), Staff, Bloomfield. Angel.
Att 751
Newmarket Town 0 Lynn Reserves 1
Lynn Reserves first away win of the season came, rather surprisingly, against a team that had only recently drawn with champions-elect AFC Sudbury.
Tom White got Lynn's goal on ten minutes after the home defence had missed a deep centre.
John Higgs was busy in the Lynn goal as the home side had the bulk of possession and produced a notable point blank save from the head of Dave Werthmann to secure the points.
Lynn have released Brady Stone.

Gorleston 2 Lynn Reserves 2
Lynn wee denied the double over Gorleston by virtue of goals in the opening minute and again three minutes from time. But for that Lynn had the better of possession but lacked the final touch near goal. Lynn equalised midway through the second half when a Robbie Harris cross was only cleared to David Chick on the edge of the box who shot home. Lynn went in front when a Mark Heath-Preston shot hit a number of boots before ending up in the back of the net.

| 27 November 2004 | |
Lynn 1 Southport 3
The difference between the leagues was only too evident as Southport exploited Lynn's defensive problems.
The first half saw Lynn have six strikes on goal compared to the visitor's three but it was Southport who had the 3-1 half time lead.
Carl Holmes had a effort cleared off the line before the visitors took the lead
on 15 minutes through Kilbane. Three minutes later Steve Daly made it two as
Lynn continued to leave too much space at the back.
Lynn continued to create chances, Jack Defty had an effort just over the bar and
Carl Holmes tapped tamely straight at the keeper from two yards. Danny
Bloomfield pulled Lynn back into the game with an effort that the keeper got a
hand to but efforts to clear the ball ended with it in the back of Southport
net.
Hopes of a revival were short-lived, however, with Terry Fearns going down under
a challenge from Steve Wilson and then converting the resultant controversial
penalty.
The second half failed to live up to the first in terms of goalmouth action.
Wilson turned an effort from Lynch onto the upright whilst Bloomfield had an
effort saved by Dickinson but there was no rousing rally from Lynn who were well
beaten.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Hammond, Chick (Stone), Camm, Defty (Fishlock),
Holmes, Staff, Bloomfield, Bacon (Angel).
Att: 964. Bookings: Hammond, Setchell.
A second half goal from Liam Forshaw gave Lynn Reserves a 1-0 Norfolk Senior Cup
victory over Dereham

Tommy Taylor has named David Theobald as a transfer target. The 25 year old (b.
15/12/78) centre back is currently out of favour at his current club, Canvey
Island. A former Cambridge Junior and Ipswich Trainee Theobald went on to play
for Brentford, Swansea and Cambridge United before joining Canvey Island in
August 2003 - making 50 appearances for them last season.

Lynn have been drawn at home to Grantham Town in the Southern League Cup.

Lynn 4 Rugby United 3
Defensive slips nearly cost Lynn in a game that they should have had wrapped up having taken a 3-1 half-time lead.
Danny Bloomfield gave Lynn the lead on fifteen minutes, latching on tio a Chris bacon flick, and then a brace from Jack Defty on 23 minutes, a Dave Staff kick finding Defty's head, and 28 minutes, a piledriver from 25 yards, looked to have killed the game but Rugby pulled one back through Robbie Beard just before the break.
Justin Marsden pulled another goal back but a Danny Hammond header restored a two goal margin on 75 minutes. Marsden scored another three minutes later but Lynn held on to secure their third successive victory. Lynn: Wilson, Jones,
Setchell, Matthews (Angel), Hammond, Camm, Defty (Chick), Holmes, Staff, Bloomfield, Bacon. Unused subs Harris,
Fishlock, Higgs. Att 676
Lynn Reserves went down 3-0 at Lowestoft Town - Lee Hyde being stretchered off
in the second half.

| 20 NOvember 2004 | |
Cirencester 1 Lynn 3
Second half goals by Danny Bloomfield, Jack Defty and Chris Bacon gave Lynn
their second away league win of the season in the snow at Cirencester. Despite
first half domination, Lynn had to wait until the 50th minute to take the lead
when a Jack Defty shot was saved but Danny Bloomfield was on hand to take
advantage of the rebound.
Two minutes later Defty made it two and on 64 minutes it was that man Defty
again who crossed to Chris Bacon to make it three.
The home side pulled a goal back but it there was no stopping Lynn taking the
points.
Nick Edwards, a trialist from Barnet, made his Lynn debut - replacing the
injured David Staff.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Matthews, Stone (Hammond), Camm, Defty
(Stevenson), Holmes, Staff (Edwards), Bloomfield, Bacon. Unused Subs:
Fishlock, McAnally. The attendance of 138 was the home sides lowest league gate
of the season.
Lynn Reserves 5 Leiston 1
Lynn took the lead on 12 minutes when Liam Forshaw found himself with time on the edge of the
area to blast home of the upright. Leiston equalised ten minutes later through
Chenery.
Lynn had to wait until the 42nd minute to regain the lead - Lee Hyde heading
home from a corner.
Two goals in the opening quarter of the second half from White and Harris put
the result beyond doubt with Adam Burton completing the scoring five
minutes from time with an effort that trickled in after a scramble. Att: 153

King's Lynn 4 Dunstable 0
Crisis club Dunstable who have lost a number of players in recent weeks were no match for a Lynn side determined to put Saturday's defeat behind them.
Having scorned a number of chances Lynn took the lead through Bloomfield on 35 minutes from a Staff corner.
Carl Holmes made it two a minute into the second half after Bloomfield and Jack Defty had created the chance.
Bloomfield scored the third on 77 minutes after a through ball by Stevenson had found him in space and he fittingly completed his hat trick on 90 minutes this time heading home from a Harris cross.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Hammond, Matthews, Defty (Stevenson 75), Camm, Holmes
(Fishlock 80), Staff, Bloomfield, Bacon (Harris 86).

13 November 2004 | |
Hednesford 5 King's Lynn 1
A first half hat trick from Andrew Bell ended any hopes Lynn have of getting their first away league win since the opening day of the season.
A clever turning effort from 6 yards gave the home side a 13th minute lead and six minutes later the home side were awarded a penalty after Stevenson was adjudged to have handled but Wilson saved Leon McSweeney's kick.
On 24 minutes, however, a slip by Mark Camm allowed Bell to make it two.
A long ball five minutes later yet again found Bell in space who completed his hat-trick.
Four minutes into the second half and Lynn down to ten men with Matthews off receiving treatment,
that man Bell again found himself free in the Lynn penalty to smash the ball past Wilson.
Lynn got a consolation a minute later through Danny Bloomfield but on 79 minutes McSweeney made amends for his earlier penalty miss to give Lynn their second 5-1 drubbing this season.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Matthews (Fishlock), Hammond, Camm, Stevenson (Bacon), Holmes (Blake), Bloomfield, Clark, Staff. Unused subs: Defty, McAnally.
Att: 460
Lynn Reserves gained a point at Woodbridge - Adam Burton getting the equaliser five minutes from time in the 1-1 draw. At that stage Lynn were already down to ten men having had Mark Heath-Preston sent off. Woodbridge had taken the lead from the penalty spot on 56 minutes.

In the Third Round of the Ridgeons League Youth Cup, Lynn Youth have been draw away to Deeping Rangers. The tie to be played w/c December 6th. Last season Lynn played Deeping twice - drawing one and losing the other. This season Deeping, in the North Division of the league, are currently fourth, winning three and drawing two of their six games.
Lynn manager Tommy Taylor is hoping to bring a former Linnet back to The Walks. Simon Clark, who played for Lynn during the 1990-91 season went on to have a league career with Peterborough and Leyton Orient.
Clark, who played for Taylor at Orient and then went with him to Darlington has recently returned to the country after a spell as player/coach in Singapore. He has, however, also been linked with the managerial vacancy at Spalding.

FA Trophy - home to Southport
Lynn have been drawn at home to Southport in the Second Round of the FA Trophy - the winners getting £3,000 in prize money.
Southport defeated Gateshead 2-1 in a replay with a 90th minute winner from Terry Fearns - his third goal against Gateshead in the two games.
Southport are not exactly strangers to The Walks - visiting three teams during Lynn's Northern Premier League days with Lynn winning 3-0 on one occasion and the other two meetings being goalless draws.

Gloucester City - Lynn 2
Two first half goals by Danny Bloomfield and a fine second half defensive performance see Lynn make progress in the FA Trophy.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Matthews, Hammond, Camm, Clarke (Defty), Holmes (Harris), Bacon,
Bloomfield (Stevenson), Staff. Unused Subs: Blake, Higgs
Lynn Reserves 1 Halstead 5
Lynn Reserves were on the end of a thrashing although the score flattered the visitors.
Lynn were a goal down in the first minute through Ben Cranfield and the visitors score two more from Gareth Heath before the half hour.
Tom White pulled a goal back for Lynn on 40 minutes but further second half goals from Budge and a 35 yarded from Inglis completed the rout.
Lynn battled hard but made too many mistakes and lost the ball to easily. It might have been six when
Halstead were awarded a penalty but play was pulled back by the assistant
referee for offside.
Lynn: McNally, Harvey, Foley (Palmer), Hyde, Stone, Anderson, Redhead (Newson),
Chick, Forshaw (Savage), White, Buhlemann

| 5 November 2004 | |
Lynn have signed centre half Nick Matthews, a former Leicester City trainee who has recently played a couple of matches with Boston United reserves and, last season, Yeovil reserves. He has also appeared for Oadby Town this season.
Lynn have provisionally arranged a friendly match on Tuesday - assuming that the Gloucester City FA Trophy tie does not need a replay.
Currently the opposition is thought likely to be either Boston United or Layton
Orient.
This will give Tommy Taylor an opportunity to look at some triallists.
Admission prices are £5 for adults and £3 concessions.

Dereham Town 3 Lynn Reserves 2
Two goals by Robbie Harris wasn't enough to see Lynn Reserves progress in the League Cup as the succumbed to a Jason Parr goal two minutes from time.
Lynn went 1-0 up in the 20th minute but Dereham were level within five minutes when Stevens headed down George's corner for Barrett to sweep
home from close range. Defty setup up Harris to give Lynn the lead just before the break but Dereham equalised
after 73 minutes, a free kick finding Mark Culyer who steered home.
The club's meet again in the Norfolk Senior Cup later this month.
Lynn Youth went back to the top of their league on Monday with a 5-0 victory over their Dereham counterparts. Scorers, Forshaw 2, White 2 and Coe
Lynn 2 Chippenham Town 3
Lynn deserved at least a point from this encounter with the league leaders
but poor defending was their undoing.
It was rather a scrappy opening to Tommy Taylor's first game in charge with the
visitors looking the more composed and getting the better of the chances but the
final touch eluding them
Lynn slowly got into the game and began to apply pressure - and this lead to the
first goal on 33 minutes. A Fishlock corner was not cleared only to the head of
Carl Holmes who headed goalwards with Adam Jones getting the final touch.
Chippenham equalised a few minutes before half time - Scott Walker looking suspiciously
offside broke through and easily beat Wilson.
Lynn had slightly the better of the opening second half exchanges but it was
Chippenham who took the lead - a Regis cross from the Chippenham right eluding
the Lynn defence with James Constable bundling home at the far post.
Lynn continued to battle and Lee Stevenson, having been on the field for only a
couple of minutes, put Lynn back into the game when a corner was cleared to him
just outside the area and he lashed the ball into the top of the net.
Lynn, however, were found wanting at the back again when a Scott Walker cross
was allowed to cross the goalmouth and Rene Regis was on hand to put the ball in
the net.
Holmes had an effort pushed onto the bar and Bloomfield a shot blocked on the
line but it wasn't Lynn's day.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Setchell, Clarke, Hammond, Holmes (Defty), Camm, Fishlock
(Stevenson), Staff, Bloomfield, Angel (Bacon).

Tommy Taylor moves into the hot seat
Tommy Taylor has been appointed manager of King's Lynn FC, he takes over from Robert Taylor who had been filling the post in a caretaker role.
As a player Tommy made over 250 appearances during two
spells at Leyton Orient having made his debut as a 15 year old. He was an
ever-present in the side that won the Third Division Championship in 1970.
He later moved to West Ham United making 396 appearances in
all competitions and was a member of the Hammers side that beat Fulham in the F.A. Cup Final in 1975, also playing in the Cup Winners Cup team that lost to
Anderlecht the following season.
Tommy was an accomplished centre-half who won 16 England Under
23 caps.
As a manager he was appointed to the hot seat at Cambridge United in April 1995 but a contractual disagreement there saw him move on to Orient in November 1996.
They reached the Third Division play-offs in the 2000-01 season but were unsuccessful in the final and after a disappointing start the following season, and with the fans becoming restless, Taylor resigned and ten days later was appointed as Darlington manager.
He was sacked at Darlington in October 2002 The Quakers having won just three of their first 14 league games and just 15 of his 53 games in charge.
Taylor then became involved in Farnborough Town in March 2003 and was appointed manager the following month but resigned the following October with the club bottom of the Conference without a win in 14 games.
He then spent some five months as coach for Seba United in Jamaica.
As a result of Tommy Taylor's appointment Robert Taylor has left the club.
Also leaving is former director and manager Kevin Boon.

In the Youth League Cup Lynn Youth will play at home Soham Town Rangers in the second round
The match is to be played w/b November 8th.
Sutch out - Booth in?
Linnets have parted company with Daryl Sutch by mutual consent, he made eight starts this season plus two appearances as substitute.
Lynn are still looking for someone to add to their strike force.
Top target appears to be Welling striker Paul Booth.
A former Maidstone United schoolboy, Booth moved onto Tonbridge Angels and then Tunbridge Wells for whom he scored 16 goals in eight games before moving on to Gravesend in the early part of the 1998/99 season.
After a period of travel which included football coaching in Australia he rejoined the club at the beginning of the 2001/02 season switching to Welling United in November '02 for whom he scored 14 goals in 23 games in the remainder of that season.
The following season he was Welling's top scorer with 16 goals (league & league cup). He has scored five goals this season.
Also mentioned is Adrian Coote, last season's second highest scorer at Wivenhoe Town but transfer listed last July and has made only two starts this season.

Lynn 1 Grantham Town 2
Lynn had enough chances in the opening 15 minutes to have put the result beyond doubt as Bloomfield was twice denied in one on one situations with Grantham keeper
Mario Ziccardi who was once again outstanding for The Gingerbreads. The
electrifying pace of David Staff suggested that goals were bound to come.
Having weathered the opening storm the game became more even as Grantham's
determination, pace and tough tackling didn't allow Lynn to settle.
It was the visitors that scored first, Fabien Smith finding the net from the
corner of the goal area on 21 minutes. Lynn fought back and Bloomfield replied
for the home side on 27 minutes.
Grantham, however, took a lead just before half time through Reddington although
Lynn still had chances with Holmes being denied by a superb reflex save from
Ziccardi.
The second half saw a lot of effort but not much in the way of good football.
Grantham were quick on the break and Lynn living dangerously by relying on an
offside trap and leaving too much space at the back. Going forward the midfield
was being bypassed and Grantham were only too pleased to get players behind the
ball.
Referee Mr Stanton, who reportedly called for a doctor during half time -
complaining of earache, made a number of controversial decisions and was booed
off at the end of each half. A typical example came when Angel was fouled but
the referee allowed play to continue - seconds later Angel dealt out his own
punishment with a tackle which took out both ball and player and was quite
rightly red carded - but it was a incident which could have been avoided.
Lynn introduced Robbie Harris for Danny Hammond - a shadow of the player from
last season - and then Lee Stevenson for Jack Defty but it was to no avail.
Grantham could have put the game beyond doubt but for some poor finishing from
Jason Turner.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Hammond (Harris 67), Setchell, Clarke, Camm, Holmes, Defty (Stevenson 84), Staff, Bloomfield, Angel Subs not used: Fishlock, Harvey, Higgs. Booking: Staff. Sent off: Angel. .

BOSTON UNITED defender Ryan Clarke and Walks favourite David Staff have both joined
Lynn on a month’s loan.
The pair have found their first-team opportunities restricted so far this season, and make the move in a bid to gain match practice.
Both players started for Boston in the recent LDV Vans Trophy tie against Cambridge United, while Staff also made a brief substitute appearance in the League Two match against Macclesfield Town in August, but otherwise the duo have been restricted to reserve team action.
Ryan Clarke, 20, joined the Pilgrims in the summer of 2003 from Notts County.
In the Norfolk Senior Cup Lynn Reserves have been drawn at Dereham Town on Saturday 27 November.

King's Lynn chairman for the past five years, Colin Nichols, stepped down at the first board meeting following the club's shareholders meeting last Thursday. Replacing him is Diss based businessman Ken Bobbins who, although a board member for less than a year, has a long association with the club.
Steve Brown has also stepped down as vice chairman to be replaced by Dave Wilsmore.
On the field the news was mixed on Wednesday evening with a strong Lynn Reserves team defeating Gorleston 5-0 but Lynn Youth slipping out of the FA Youth Cup to an extra time goal at Hoddesdon.
|
| 9 October 2004 | |
Lynn slumped to a 5-1 defeat at Merthyr Tydfil with a very patched up team - Robbie Harris getting Lynn's consolation.
It was the first time Lynn had conceded five in an away league match since the
trip to Sudbury in August 1996.
The Walks saw another six goals - all scored by the opposition.
For the reserves Lynn fielded Lee Stevenson and Danny Hammond and hope to have Gary Setchell
added to the comeback trail for the game against Gorleston on Wednesday.
It was, however, a number of defensive errors that resulted in a somewhat flattering scoreline for the visitors,
for whom Adam Salmons notched a hat trick, whilst Lynn had few chances - the best falling to Paul Hunt who saw an effort cleared off the line.
Lynn have signed Oliver Savage from Wroxham. The 19 year old full back, a product of Wroxham and Norwich City's Youth ranks, has also played for Stalham and Fakenham.

Battersby Released - Taylor Stays as Manager
Tony Battersby has been released by the club after failing to meet expectations. In
twelve appearances this season he had scored four goals. He was on non-contract terms.
Meanwhile Robert Taylor will continue as manager at the club and be given a chance to prove himself.
At a meeting of shareholders held Thursday evening, Chairman Colin Nichols said
there had been no other suitable applicants.
On financial matters the club made a loss of £12,617 on the financial year ending May 2004 compared to an loss of £30,924 the previous year. Had it not been for the managerial change and resulting costs, Mr. Nichols reported, the club might have made a small profit and continues the trend set in recent years of an improving financial situation.
Turnover for the year was £391,508 (previously £294,768) but there was an increase in expenses - £404,125 (£325,962).
Lynn Youth were in action on Thursday evening - a 4-1 victory at Fakenham taking them back to the top of the Ridgeons Youth League, Central Division.

On The Road Again
Lynn find themselves as underdogs in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup when the renew acquaintances with former Northern Premier League opposition Lancaster City.
Lancaster City, now in the Conference North and a mere 215 miles from Lynn, occupy 10th spot in the league table.
Lancaster are managed by Phil Wilson who has a wealth of experience at non-league level as a player and a manager.
He managed Leek Town, with whom he won a UniBond League title, and moved on to Northwich Victoria and then y and then Stalybridge Celtic. where two UniBond League titles were won.
He joined Southport in the summer of 2001, leaving in January 2003 at the end of a spell which saw Southport go 17 league games without a win.
He was appointed manager of Lancaster City in May 2003. Lancaster finished 8th in the UniBond Premier Division last season.
Lynn have travelled to Lancaster twice before in league games, with the honours even at one victory each.

Lynn 1 Ludlow Town 0
Lynn overcame Ludlow Town but made hard work of it with the deciding goal coming
in the 54th minute. Mark Angel out on the right saw the goal keeper out of position
but his long shot was cleared off the line - but only as far as Carl Holmes who
headed in from close range.
The first half belonged totally Lynn with Ludlow happy to keep players behind
the ball and take their time.
Lynn had their chances but were often lacking in the final quarter of the field.
Carl Holmes and Jack Defty went close with first half headers whilst Mark
Angel had a shot just wide.
Ludlow only looked to attack once they had gone behind but on the one serious
chance that fell to them saw Steve Wilson save with his legs. Lynn had further
chances as the game progressed with the game more open - the best possibly
falling to Tony Battersby who hesitated when well placed.
Lynn: Wilson, Camm, Blake, Defty, Jones, Stone, Holmes, Fishlock (Sutch), Battersby, Bloomfield, Angel. Subs not used: Harris, Bacon, Foley, Osborne. Att: 732
In the FA Youth Cup Lynn overcame Godmanchester Rovers on Wednesday night and will now travel to Hoddesdon in the Second Qualifying Round who defeated Waltham Forest 2-1 after extra time. The tie is scheduled for the week of 11th October. A further victory will see Lynn at home two weeks later against Grays Athletic or Histon.

Lynn 0 Halesowen Town 1
Lynn were without injured defenders
Daryl Sutch, Danny Hammond and Gary Setchell and suspended keeper Stevie Wilson for this encounter with the division's second placed club but welcomed back
Brady Stone whilst Jack Defty started on the substitutes bench.
The all important goal came on two minutes - Simon Fosdick on the Halesowen
right put the Lynn defence on the backfoot and his ball found Richard Burgess
who finished off with ease.
The rest of the game belonged to Lynn who had the majority of the possession and
all but one of the remaining chances on goal but this was not Lynn's day. Far
too often good work was wasted as no one was there to give the final touch. This
was particularly noticeable with on Danny Bloomfield effort in the first half -
his cross running invitingly across goal but there was no Lynn player anywhere
near. Holmes had a header over and Bloomfield a header saved but the visiting
keeper was never really troubled.
The introduction of Jack Defty for Mark Angel in the second half almost
bought an immediate result. His added physical presence troubling the Halesowen
defence - Battersby hit the metal work and Taylor saving from Defty in one of
Lynn's better chances.
A few minutes later there was another goalmouth scramble but Lynn could never
apply the finishing touch and went down to their first ever defeat at the Walks
to Halesowen.
As a result Lynn drop to 12th whilst Halesowen go top - although on this
performance Halesowen showed little championship form - but then again having
been presented with a second minute lead it is probably not surprising that so
little was seen of them as an attacking force.
Lynn: Osborne, Camm, Blake, Fishlock, Jones, Stone, Harris, Holmes, Battersby, Bloomfield (Bacon), Angel (Defty).
Lynn Reserves continued to be a first half team when they went down 5-0 at
AFC Sudbury - all the home teams goals coming in the second half.

FA Cup - Ludlow at home.
Lynn have been presented with a home draw in the FA Cup - and a game they will be expected to win - but very much a potential
banana skin.
Lynn play Ludlow Town on 2 October.
Ludlow play in the Midland Alliance where they occupy 19th spot in the league with just two wins from nine games.
They did, however, produce something of a shock on Saturday when they overcame North West Counties League side Newcastle Town 5-1 in the First Qualifying Round.
Newcastle are unbeaten in the league this season.
This is the second time that Ludlow had defeated opposition from the North West
- winning 3-2 at Glossop North End in the previous round.
Ludlow have an average league gate of 64 this season although this was swelled
to 146 for the visit of Newcastle Town.
The winners of the tie receive prize money of £3,750.
Following their FA Cup exit at the weekend, Grantham Town manager Dave Norton
resigned after five months in charge.

Maldon Town 2 Lynn 3
Games are won if you take your chances - and in this game Lynn took their chances whilst the home side, despite having more opportunities than Lynn, missed theirs.
Lynn took the lead through Carl Homes on four minutes who burst through on the Lynn right and took his shot well.
On 42 minutes Lynn added a second when Battersby crossed to Bloomfield but his header was well saved by the keeper only for Robbie Harris, in his first start of the season, to put the ball in.
In between the two goals Maldon had a fair number of chances, most of them whistling diagonally across the Lynn goal.
Maldon should have got themselves back into the game early in the second half after a handball by Sutch but Osborne guessed the right way to deny Smith.
Bell got a deserved goal for Maldon on 55 minutes and Lynn didn't really look a division above their hosts.
Osborne came to the edge of his area for the ball only for Parker to attempt to push it past him - but the effort hit the upright.
Lynn restored their two goal lead through Battersby on 72 minutes but Maldon were awarded a second penalty, this time for pushing, and substitute Simpson sent Osborne the wrong way.
Lynn and Maldon should have had further penalties, Lynn for a foul on Harris and Maldon for another handball in a match where the referee seemed very relaxed about the tackles but intolerant of any dissent - which resulted in Angel and Holmes being booked.

Robert Taylor has thrown his name forward for the Walks hot seat after the club revealed that the vacancy will be advertised nationally this week.
Taylor was widely tipped to take the Linnets reins, following the resignation of Kevin Boon and Darren Bloodworth , and will continue in a caretaker capacity whilst the post is advertised.
"I'd love the opportunity to be given the job on a full-time basis." said Taylor.
"Lynn are a very big club and I want to take them forward. I've got a lot of knowledge from being in the professional game 16 years, and hopefully I can give some of that to the club.
"At the moment my main concern is making sure that both the first team and reserves are fully focused on what I want them to do."
After a three-hour board meeting on Tuesday night, the club released a statement regarding recent events.
It read: "The club has reluctantly accepted that Darren Bloodworth and Kevin Boon have resigned from their positions as joint managers.
"On behalf of everyone at King's Lynn Football Club, the board would like to thank Biff and Boony for their tremendous efforts and achievements and wish them well for the future.
"The position will be advertised nationally and meanwhile Robert Taylor will continue in his temporary role, assisted by Keith Rudd.
"The club has already received several enquiries about the post and Robert has indicated that he would like to be considered.
"Contrary to press speculation, no director has resigned or indicated he is going to.
"Mark Burrows has stated he no longer wishes to play for the football club and has been released. It is understood Mark will be joining Histon.
"The club has been concerned at the totally unacceptable behaviour of a tiny minority of supporters whose abusive language and general behaviour has engendered complaints from both fellow supporters and other clubs.
"The individuals concerned will be informed in writing that they are now banned from The Walks.
"It is hoped the unfortunate events of the last ten days can be put behind us and the club can now go forward, starting with a victory at Maldon on Saturday."
Speculation that Gary Setchell and Mark Camm were also about to leave the club, following rumours on the Internet, were also dispelled by Taylor.
"I spoke to all of the players at training on Tuesday," said Taylor.
"They understand what a difficult situation it is, but everyone is happy to continue. They know we are in this together and that I was brought to the club by Biff and Boony."

Lynn Reserves fought out an entertaining goalless draw against Norwich United on Wednesday.
There were chances at both ends with Jon Higgs outstanding in the Lynn goal.
The Reserves had fewer chances going forward and seemed to have trouble beating the
visitors' offside trap but had the ball cleared off the line on 40 minutes and a penalty denied them just before the end - the referee seeming to overrule his assistant when Forshaw tangled with
United keeper Woodcock.
Jack Defty made a 25 minute appearance whilst the appearance of Lee Hyde in the 107 strong crowd sparked rumours of a quick return to The Walks.
Meanwhile just down the A10 Lynn Youth ran out 9-1 winners at Downham.

Tiverton Town 1 King's Lynn 1
Honours were even in Lynn's second visit to Ladysmead as two sides struggling for form met.
Lynn saw a number of changes to their line-up with Mark Burrows relegated to the
subs bench but then complaining of back injury during the warm up which meant he
took no part in the game.
The home side took the lead after a back-pass from Sutch to Osborne was intercepted by Wills.
The introduction of all Lynn three substitutes injected some life and urgency into the Lynn attack a
freekick won in the last minute by Bacon resulted in a corner which found the head of Carl Holmes - the ball looping high over the head of former
Wisbech keeper Ovendale and into the goal.
Lynn has a chance to grab all three points immediately after the restart but Bacon's cross evaded defenders and strikers alike - but a draw was a fair result.
Lynn: Osborne, Sutch, Blake, Camm, Jones, Setchell, Holmes, Fishlock, Battersby,
Bloomfield, Angel. Subs: Anderson, Heath-Preston, Harris, Bacon, Higgs. Att: 433

B&B resign
Management duo Boon and Bloodworth have departed from the club and, it appears, there is no going back.
Robert Taylor will take charge of the game at Tiverton with Keith Rudd looking after the Reserves against Harwich.
A statement from the club expressing a wish that the couple stay at the helm failed to sway the decision as the management duo were
adamant that there was no going back - citing a feeling that their position had been undermined from the boardroom in addition
to the criticism received from a section of the support at the Hemel game.
The matter was further confused by the saying that they would not accept the
duo's resignation until it was received in writing and that they hoped the
couple would reconsider.
Meanwhile Robert Taylor expressed and interest in taking on the job - should it
become available.

Hemel Hempstead 2 Lynn 0
Another away defeat, another injury to Lee Stevenson.
Lynn drop to 8th - and following Wednesday's result 10th - but with the play-off's this season there is always hope, although this early in the season should any club be settling for the plays offs?
A goal in each half killed off any hopes of ending Lynn's mediocre form of late although once again Lynn had the better of the possession. Unpleasantness after the match result in Darren Bloodworth offering his resignation and Kevin Boon promising to follow suit if Biff did not change his mind.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones (Harris 61), Blake, Burrows, Stone, Fishlock, Stevenson (Sutch 12), Camm, Battersby, Bloomfield (Bacon 72), Angel. Unused subs: Heath-Preston, Osborne.

Lynn 1 Banbury Utd 0
We have had good going on brilliant, we have had bad going on diabolical - this was mediocre.
Lynn ground out a single goal victory against Banbury by courtesy of an excellent
goal from Mark Camm on 48 minutes, his first goal of 2004.
Lynn started brightly, forcing a corner in the first minute but as play settled
down it was Lynn the majority of the possession but Steve Wilson, in the Lynn
goal, the keeper forced to work the hardest.
Lynn's goal was created by Danny Bloomfield who crossed from the Lynn right.
With Tony Battersby created problems in the Puritan's defence the ball came out
to Mark Camm whose shot flew into the net given Banbury keeper Tricker no
chance.
Banbury won a succession of corners and Lynn looked far from happy either in
defence or when going forward - either running out of ideas or putting on
crosses with no one in the middle to convert them.
Forington had the ball in the Lynn net but his effort was disallowed for offside
whilst Lynn's appeals for a penalty went unheeded despite Robbie Harris having
his shirt half removed.
Lynn: Wilson, Jones, Blake, Burrows, Stone, Fishlock, Stevenson (Heath-Preston),
Camm, Battersby (Bacon), Bloomfield (Harris), Angel. Subs (not used) Sutch,
Osborne.

Lynn 4 Boston 5
A crowd of just over a thousand saw Paul Gascoigne make a 45 minute appearance for Boston United in which he not only showed his skills on the pitch but also stayed on to sign autographs after the game.
In terms of goals the visitors went in at half time winning 4-2 with the Lynn goals coming from a Mark Angel free kick on 23 minutes and a Battersby penalty on 32 minutes.
Ex-Linnet David Staff got on the scoresheet later in the game whilst substitute Robbie Harris got a late brace for Lynn.
