Saturday 3 May
585 see Trophy paraded
Lynn celebrated a successful season with a parade of the BGB Premier Division Trophy and the Ridgeons League Youth Cup.
The only disappointment on a splendid day was the result in the field, Lynn Reserves losing 3-0 to Newmarket Town - the game saw a
Seamus Kelleher penalty hit the bar.
It was manager Keith Rudd's last game in charge after for years, Shaun Carey has been linked to the job.
Thursday 1 May
King's Lynn Youth 6 Witham Town Youth 0
Kings Lynn won another trophy last night at Diss Town's ground when they defeated Essex
side, Witham Town to win the Eastern Counties League Youth Cup for the
first Time.
After a goal less first half, dominated by Lynn without reward, the young Linnets showed their quality in the second period as they outclassed their more physical opponents with a
display of fine attacking football.
Once the first goal went in there only ever going to be one winner. Our goal scorers were Kyle Nicholls 2 (1 pen.), Vincent, Rose, Setchell, and Walker.
They now face a sterner task in the League Play Off quarter final at Kirkley on Monday, May 5th.kick off: 3-00 p.m.
Kirkley won the East Division on goal difference having an equal number of
points as Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
Wednesday 30 April
Linnets to be given Civic Reception
The club has been informed by the local council that a civic reception is to be held at the Town Hall to celebrate the club's promotion.
This will take place on Wednesday 14 May. The club are deeply honoured and pleased by this magnificent gesture by the Borough Council and thank them for their generosity.
Saturday 26 April
Merthyr Tydfil 0 King's Lynn 2
King's Lynn clinched their their first Southern League Premier Division title and promotion to the Conference with a victory over Merthyr Tydfil at Penydarren
Park today; previously the closest they have ever been was as runners up to Cheltenham Town in 1985.
Merthyr kicked off and their early attacking forays were repelled by Baines and Crane. Nolan for Lynn was almost in with a great early chance as the Martyrs waited for an offside flag which never came but he pulled his effort wide and Francis could not capitalise.
Both sides were taking time to settle on the hard and bumpy pitch. For Merthyr Steines beat the offside trap and took the ball well in before Howie went down to make a fine save low to his left.
Merthyr went close from a free kick which was headed down by Jones but Steines turned the ball wide.
Frew won Lynn's first corner kick which was taken by Francis but Crane glanced a header wide of a post.
For Merthyr Harris with two long throws caused danger to the Lynn defence but the first was headed away by Defty, the second to be cleared by Baines.
A poor goal kick by Morris was retrieved by Chapman for Lynn who fired the ball back in when Jack Defty caused the keeper a problem and he beat him to the ball and unfortunately for Lynn drifted just wide.
When Matt Nolan was fouled Francis took the kick finding Frew who crossed for Baines to bring a good save from Morris but the linesman had already ruled the effort out for offside.
Frew forced a second corner again taken by Francis, this time Thomas headed clear.
From a foul by Chapman Dawe played in a dangerous free kick but the danger was brought to nought for a foul in the Lynn box.
Lynn went ahead in the 29th minute following a foul by Williams on Nolan. Francis took the kick which went through a crowd of players to Jack Defty who rolled the ball towards goal for MATT NOLAN to tap in from one yard.
Merthyr captain Thomas was then cautioned for a foul on Francis who crossed to Nolan who laid the ball back to Frew but the winger shot high over.
Chapman committed a foul on Harris and from another testing free kick from Dawe the ball was spilled by Howie but centre forward Jones poked the ball wide of the open goal.
When Steines chased a loose ball and crossed from the by-line Chapman sliced his clearance for a corner taken by Dawe deep to the back post but headed wide by Thomas.
For Lynn a free kick taken by West saw Jack Defty head down to Francis whose shot was blocked and cleared upfield where Sedgemore fouled Harris but again Dawe's curling free kick was well gathered by Howie.
Just on the interval a long throw by Williams was headed inches wide of his own goal by Baines.
Merthyr almost levelled straight from the restart but Chapman appeared miraculously on the goal line to block a shot from Steins with Harris dragging his follow up effort wide of the Lynn posts.
Then Howie had to put a long range free kick from Dawe over his crossbar resulting in a fruitless corner.
From a second Merthyr corner taken by Dawe the ball was headed clear by Sedgemore for a second but this time Harris for Merthyr shot well wide.
On the hour Merthyr made a substitution taking off full back Glassey who was replaced by Marcus Griffiths.
Francis almost immediately had a good chance for Lynn as he having been set up by Nolan burst into the area but his shot was over the top.
Minutes later Jack Defty made progress down the Lynn left flank, cut inside a defender and fired in a low shot past Morris into the bottom corner to put Lynn two up after 55 minutes.
Defty and Nolan then combined well to give Francis a run at goal but he was crowded out by several defenders.
For Lynn Baines and Crane were proving solid at the back and were the rock on which many Merthyr attacks foundered.
Fisk this time found Francis on the left again. He carried the ball into the Merthyr penalty area but as on the previous occasion his shot was too high. When West fouled Craig Steins he became the first player in to referee Lawrence's notebook as he was cautioned. This after good play by Clark had put the Merthyr striker in with a good chance.
Chapman breaking forward on the left clashed with goalkeeper Morris as he advanced to meet the threat at the edge of the Merthyr penalty area and was injured in the clash, Chapman becoming the second player to go into the book, the keeper's injury causing a lengthy stoppage.
Lynn were comfortably coping with anything Merthyr could throw at them as they began to run down the clock to the title.
However there was some life still left in the game when Williams and Frew clashed deep in Merthyr territory which resulted in the Welshman receiving a red card for his part in the incident. Baines of Lynn also received a caution. Lynn then made a substitution replacing Nolan with Turner. A good break on the Lynn left saw Chapman breaking in to the Merthyr box where he was brought down by Hartshorn for a penalty kick to Lynn but Francis hit his shot abysmally wide for his second miss in successive matches.
A promising move on the Lynn right saw West find Defty who with a deft back heel to Sedgemore who in turn gave Frew a chance but he was fouled on the edge of the box, Francis hitting the wall with the free kick which was deflected for a corner from which Crane headed wide. Merthyr had a final fling but Dawe's cross shot went over the bar.
They forced a corner again taken by Dawe which cleared by Howie helped by Jack Defty.
A bouncing ball into the box deceived Howie as Jones got a touch but West was on hand to make a timely goal line clearance.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Bains, Crane, Fisk (Camm), Frew (Bloomfield), Sedgemore, J Defty, Nolan (Turner), Francis, Unused Subs: Melton, Murray
Booked: Chapman, West, Bains.
Wednesday 23 April
Downham Town 1 Lynn Youth 0
King's Lynn Youth slipped up in their quest for the league title as Downham won at the Walks by a single goal.
With a superior goal difference over their rivals this means they need a point against
third placed Mildenhall in their final league fixture to be crowned
divisional champions.
If they do progress they will tackle Eastern Division winners Kirkley as the Divisional winners fight it out.
Tuesday 22 April
Haverhill Rovers 4 Lynn Reserves 3
Lynn found themselves three goals down at the break but squared things up with two goals from Stephen Harvey and one from Martin Rudd.
However that was not the end of the scoring as the home side got the winner with seven minutes remaining.
Lynn were denied a clear penalty for which Norman Cesar was sent from the bench for protesting. Att
38.
Monday 21 April
Lynn Youth went to the top of the Ridgeons Youth League North Division with a 7-3 win over Ely City. Lynn scorers were Rose 2, T.Spittlehouse, Vincent, Walker, Watson 2.
Saturday 19 April
Gloucester City 1 King's Lynn 1
A Michael Frew free kick on three minutes hit the bar in the opening minutes as Lynn started in
determined mood.
Joe Francis then had an effort cleared off the line by a defender.
Lynn were awarded a penalty on 28 minutes when Matt Nolan was adjudged to have been
pushed by Mark Richards. Joe Francis' delayed penalty was saved by Gloucester keeper Sawyer.
Lynn continued to dominating, never allowing their opponents to settle.
Gloucester won their first corner on 38 minutes but it went for a throw in on
the opposite side of the pitch.
The home side came more into the game at the start of the second half.
Alex Sykes put the home side ahead on 67 minutes after a Pitcher header glanced the post
leaving a simple tap in opportunity.
Scott Howie did well to save from leading scorer Pitcher on 72 minutes as Lynn
struggled to find their way back into the game.
Crane headed a Francis corner over in the following minute.
With ten minutes remaining Matt Nolan hauled Lynn back into the game having be
set up by John Turner..
End to end stuff followed without further scoring and it all goes down to the
trip to Merthyr next week.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Bains, Crane, Fisk, Frew,
Sedgemore, J Defty (Turner 75), Nolan. Francis (Melton 86). Unused Subs: Bloomfield,
C Defty,
Murray. Booked: J Defty, Sedgemore. Att: 663
Tuesday 15 April
King's Lynn 5 Bashley 0
It wasn't Bashley keeper David Elm's night. His first touch on two minutes from Joe Francis' free kick saw the greasy ball squirm underneath him and into the net.
Then in the second half a Michael Frew cross somehow found its way into the net for Lynn's third goal.
Elm could do little about Lynn's second goal. Ben Sedgemore's thundering shot smashing past him from 25 yards.
Having gone two up Lynn did seem to take their foot off the pedal yet somehow managed to take the total up to five.
Goal number four came from substitute Danny Bloomfield scored from close range after Elm failed to hold Frew's angled shot.
Then in the last minute Deane completed the scoring in a similar manner to Bloomfield's strike.
Injury hit Bash were game opponents but rarely threatened the home goal.
Lynn: Howie, West, Bains, Crane, Chapman, Frew, Fisk, Sedgemore, Francis
(Melton 66), J Defty (Bloomfield 66), Nolan (Deane 82). Subs not used: C Defty,
Murray.

Saturday 12 April
King's Lynn 2 Brackley Town 1
A game of two halves. In the first Lynn were a slick, attacking force, in the second they lacked shape, cohesion and could not put a string of passes together.
Lynn attacked from the start and won a series of free kicks with Francis going close with one which it the top right angle of the
goal.
Lynn took the lead on 27 minutes. A foul was conceded - many thinking it was a yard
inside the penalty area - but the referee thought otherwise and gave a free kick in a central
position just outside the box.
The Brackley defence might have been expect a floating, swerving kick, but Joe Francis delivered a "daisy cutter" which hit the
Brackley left hand upright and went into the net.
Four minutes later the lead was doubled. A deep cross from Matt Nolan found the
head of
Francis at the far post.
Brackley had little idea going forward, relying largely on the pace Jerome Anderson.
Their best first half chance being denied by the legs of Howie.
The second half was a different affair as the "other" Lynn team took to the field.
There were early chances for Jack Defty and Ben Sedgemore but both efforts went
over.
Brackley's full back Murphy was then cautioned for a foul on Nolan, Crane putting the resultant free kick wide.
Minutes later Andrew Fisk conceded a free kick which was taken by substitute Tom Winters whose
hard shot Scott Howie got both hands to but the ball squirmed into the
net.
Howie became the busier of the two keepers but with two minutes remaining
Brackley were reduced to ten men when Murphy received his second booking of the
afternoon.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Baines, Crane, Fisk, Turner (Frew), Sedgmore, J Defty, Nolan, Francis
(Melton). Unused Subs: Bloomfield, C Defty, Murray.
Booked: Chapman. Att: 1.265
Friday 11 April
Ray Dixon
It is with great sadness that the club has learnt of the death of Ray Dixon who died on Thursday evening at the age of 77 after a short illness.
Signed from Rotherham United in August 1957
Ray, who stayed with the club until the early 60's, is the club's record scorer in a Southern League
game when he scored five in the
7-0 defeat of Cambridge United on 15th April 1959, a season which saw him
total 52 goals in all competitions.
Monday 8 April
Lynn Youth Team defeated Buntingford Town 5-2 in the semi-final of the Ridgeons Youth League Cup.
Saturday 6 April
King's Lynn 0 Team Bath 0
With the pressure on both teams in this game it was never going to be a footballing classic.
Lynn one the first corner but the opening was shaded by the visitors but in a goalless first half efforts on target were few.
Jack Defty put a curling free kick just over the bar and then put a header straight into the keeper's hands.
At the other end Murray did well to block a shot from Arnold with his legs.
The second half saw more of the same as each team had turns in ascendancy but the keepers were seldom troubled.
Team Bath's centre forward Arnold became the first player into the book for kicking the ball away having
already been warned.
On 66 minutes Lynn had a let off when Takumi Ake hit a shot against the Lynn crossbar, Murray recovering well to field the shot from the resultant rebound.
On 70 minutes, Jack Defty was the next to find his way into the referee's notebook following a
foul and then Barnes was carded for a foul on Defty as frustration began to
show.
Just before the end, Mark Camm received lengthy treatment having received a knock on the back of the head.
Lynn: Murray, West, Chapman, Baines, Crane, Camm (Fisk 89), Turner, Sedgemore, J Defty,
Nolan, Melton (Frew 83) Unused subs: Bloomfield, Deane, McAnally. Att: 2336
A Dan Buhlemann 25 yard shot just before the half hour gave Lynn
Reserves the lead
against the Ridgeons League high fliers Needham Market but the home side equalised ten minutes
later and scored the winner five minutes before half time.
Lynn: Rix, Shadrack, Lake, Gilchrist, Miller, Buhlemann, Keegan, Harvey, Rudd, Vincent, Nichols. Subs: Setchell, Spittlehouse
Lynn A were 2-1 winners against Narborough.
Thursday 3 April
THE Linnets have released midfielder Shaun Carey after an injury-plagued season.
Carey has never fully recovered from a leg break suffered against Corby Town in
September 2006.
Recovery has seen a number of setbacks - most recently when playing for Spalding United.
He made four starts this season plus two appearances as substitute - the most notable probably being his recall to the starting line-up for the game against Team Bath.
Wednesday 2 April
Kings Lynn Reserves 0 Woodbridge Town 0
The match was fought out between two very youthful sides and despite the lack of goals, at times provided some attractive and entertaining football. Both sides endeavoured to keep the ball on the ground and both had scoring opportunities. Lynn got on top in the second half and were a trifle unlucky not to break the deadlock. Harvey, Buhlemann and
Keegan all going close, while Mowbray brought a superb save out of the Woodbridge keeper.
Parkinson could have won it with a header late on from a superb Bush free kick.
The attendance was the Reserves' lowest of the season, 59
Kings Lynn Youth 3, Deeping Rangers 1

Monday 31 March
Lynn Youth 8 Wisbech Town 0
Lynn moved to second in the league with a comprehensive victory against Wisbech.
Scorers were Rose 2, Nicholls 2, T Spittlehouse, Drawbridge, Glendinning, Vincent.
Lynn have two games in hand over league leaders Downham Market and are one point behind.
Lynn travel to Downham for the last league game of the season on 23 April.
There is further action for the Youth Team on Wednesday when they travel to Deeping Rangers in the Youth League Cup Quarter Final. The winners are at home to Buntingford
Town in the semi-final. Should Lynn beat Deeping, the semi-final will take place
on Monday 7 April
Saturday 29 March
King's Lynn 4 Cheshunt 0
Once Lynn had taken the lead the first half seemed to had something of an
end-of-season feel about it. The opening goal came on 10 minutes when a flowing move involving Dean West and Mark Camm played in
Matt Nolan to calmly go round goalkeeper Bobby Smith and roll the ball into the empty
net.
Cheshunt had a good opportunity to equalise when Cox beat Scott Howie but Dean West cleared off the line.
Lynn, who had already made changes in the starting line-up because of injuries
to Hoyte, Chapman and Francis, lost Ben Sedgemore on thirteen minutes, Andrew Fisk replacing him.
It was not until the closing five minutes of the first half that Lynn applied pressure - then a series of corners saw two
good saves from visiting keeper
Bobby Smith to deny Camm and Crane whilst Parry cleared a Jack Defty effort off the line.
Bobby Smith's found luck against him as Lynn scored twice. First Jack Defty was
fouled on the edge of the area and whilst Smith saved Michael Frew's free kick
John Turner was on hand to slide in the rebound. Five minutes later Smith did
well again when he parried a Jack Defty shot but once again the rebound fell to
a Lynn player - Matt Nolan getting the simple tap in. On 72
minutes a long ball by Defty found Nolan showing good control to round the
goalkeeper and roll the ball to Steve Melton to slot home from 10 yards -
his first goal of the season. Just
before the end Andrew Fisk was cautioned for a two footed tackle on Gerald and from the free kick
substitute Giambrone produced a great save from Howie. Lynn: Howie, West, C Defty, Crane, Bains,
Camm, Turner, Sedgemore (Fisk), J Defty (Bloomfield), Nolan and Frew (Melton).
Booked: Fisk
Meanwhile signing for Cheshunt was Lynn's Seamus Kelleher
Monday 24 March
Bedford Town 0 King's Lynn 3
Lynn took the lead on 14 minutes with a Jack Defty knock down to Joe Francis
whose cross was converted by Ben Sedgemore from 6 yards.
Sedgemore was involved in the second goal when he turned provider to Matt Nolan
who scored from a tight angle.
Bedford came more into the game in the second half without troubling Lynn keeper
Scott Howie.
Lynn completed the scoring in the 89th minute from a Michael Frew free kick.
Lynn: Howie, Bains, Chapman (West 38), Hoyte, Crane, Fisk, Turner (Bloomfield
74), Sedgemore, Defty (Frew 63), Nolan, Francis. Subs (not used): Melton,
Murray.
Saturday 22 March
King's Lynn 6 Cirencester 2
Lynn preserved their 100% record against Cirencester with a win that could have
been greater but for three goal line clearances.
As it was the six goals took Lynn beyond the 100 goals mark in all competitions
this season.
Relegation threatened Cirencester took the lead on three minutes when
Etherington found space behind Gavin Hoyte to find Matty Williams, who calmly
despatched his shot past the despairing Howie.
Four minutes later Jack Defty's header was cleared off the line by centre-half
Molyneux with the keeper beaten.
It began to look as if it was going to be another game of Lynn struggling to
overcome weak opposition when Defty rounded the advancing keeper and laid the
ball off ball off to Francis, who missed from point-blank range.
Two minutes later, however, Lynn levelled when Francis scored from a free kick
from the edge of the box.
Lynn took the lead on 26 minutes through Francis after the visitors had failed
to clear from a corner.
On 33 minutes Lynn went further ahead, Jack Defty putting the ball across goal
from the Lynn right for Matt Nolan to tap in.
Tow minutes into the second half Lynn scored with their first attack, Nolan
sliding home.
Francis complete his hat-trick on the hour following a superb four-man move.
Cirencester always looked dangerous in attack - but seldom got far enough into
the Lynn half. They did, however, on 67 minutes, with a well worked goal
involving Taylor and centre forward Robertson which the substitute placed beyond
Howie.
Molyneaux was again on the goal line to deny Frew. With all their substitutes
used, Lynn began to take their foot of the pedal and the visitors tried to
reduce the deficit.
Virtually against the run of play Lynn added a sixth - Danny Bloomfield being
fouled and taking the penalty himself - goal number 101.
Lynn: Howie, Bains, Chapman, Hoyte, Crane, Fisk, Turner, Sedgemore (Melton), J
Defty, Nolan (Bloomfield), Francis (Frew). Unused Substitutes: West, Murray.
Booked: Crane
Attendance: 921.
Lynn Reserves were without a game whilst Lynn A went down 4-5 at home to
Wiggenhall.
Thursday 20 March

following this date which is scheduled to be against Team Bath.
Tuesday 18 March
Hitchin Town 2 King's Lynn 2

Prior to this, Matt Nolan had put Lynn two ahead with goals in the 17th and 33rd
minutes.
Luke Gregson pulled a goal back for the Canaries on 62 minutes.
The home side continued to press and substitute Jon Stevenson equalised on 86
minutes.
Lynn: Howie, Baines, Chapman, Hoyte, Crane, Camm, Turner (Melton), Sedgemore,
J Defty (Murray), Nolan (Frew), Francis. Substitutes : Bloomfield, West. Attendance: 447
Saturday 15 March
Bromsgrove Rovers 1 King's Lynn 1
It might have been nearly ten years since Lynn visited the Victoria Ground but
Lynn's poor record at the ground continued with missed chances and a late goal
denying them the points.
John Turner had given the Linnets the lead early in the second half but Hungarian substitute Joszeph Jakab's stooping header late on ensured a share of the spoils.
Lynn: Howie, Baines, Chapman, Hoyte, Crane, Camm, Turner, Sedgemore,
Defty, Nolan, Francis. Substitutes (all unused): Bloomfield, Frew, Melton, West,
Murray. Booking: Sedgemore. Attendance: 524.
Tuesday 11 March
Craig Fleming Announces Retirement . . .
King's Lynn FC can today confirm that Craig Fleming has been forced to retire from football due to injury.
Craig has been advised by his surgeon that if he were to play again he would risk further damage to his already injured ankle.
King's Lynn FC wishes to place on record its thanks to Craig for all of his efforts for us in his short spell with the club.
We wish him well for the future.

and Mark Heath-Preston Departs
Mark Heath-Preston has signed for Ridgeons Premier League side Needham Market.
He will be available to play in the Suffolk side's FA Vase Semi-Final.
Mark signed for Lynn from Downham and progressed through the Youth and Reserve teams to make his first team debut in the FA Trophy
at the age of 17 coming on as substitute against Corinthian Casuals on 4 October 2003.
His first senior goal came in the errea Cup in the 5-0 win against Corby 29 November 2005.
This season he made two errea Cup appearances and scored 17 goals for the
Reserves.
Saturday 8 March
King's Lynn 5 Yate Town 0
Lynn completed their first double over Yate Town without the need to "win ugly".
Lynn took the lead on seven minutes. John Turner won a corner on the Lynn left and Joe Francis' resultant
in-swinger found the head of Jack Defty who gave the keeper no chance.
On 15 minutes the lead was double when Joe Francis 25 yard free kick found the top corner of the net with the keeper motionless.
Eight minutes later Matt Nolan ran onto a defensive clearance from Gavin Hoyte deep into the visitors' half and rounded the keeper to score.
Just two minutes into the second half any doubts about the outcome of the game were ended when Crane forced the ball home in a crowded goalmouth.
For a while it looked as if Lynn were then just going through the motions but on 73 minutes Matt Nolan's attempted cross hit the arm of Adam Syms and Joe Francis made no mistake from the spot.
There were other chances for Lynn to score whilst Yate's best move was reserved until three minutes from the end when Syms blasted over from within the six yard box.
Lynn: Howie, Bains, Chapman, Hoyte, Crane, Camm, Turner (Frew 71), Sedgemore
(Fisk 78), Defty (Bloomfield 76), Nolan, Francis. Unused Subs: West, Murray.
Booked: Nolan
Elsewhere Lynn Reserves came back from a goal down to win 3-2 at bottom club
Newmarket whilst Lynn A went out of the league cup - losing 3-2 to undefeated
Heacham.
Saturday 1 March
King's Lynn 0 Hillingdon Borough 1
Lynn's abysmal record against Boro continued as they slipped out of the errea
Cup without seriously testing the visiting keeper.
Lynn escaped early scares when first Miller dived right handed to save from
Nelson and then Nelson, finding himself with only Miller to beat, spooned his
shot over.
The deciding goal came on 36 minutes when Miller went to punch out a cross but
the ball was not cleared and Miller went to ground appearing to be injured. Play
was not stopped and Byfield scored.
Lynn spent plenty of time in the visitors' half but but could not find a way
through their packed defence as Boro got players behind the ball and closed down
quickly. When Lynn did manage a shot it was invariably wide or straight at the
keeper.
Lynn: Miller, Harvey, Lake, Melton, C Defty, Buhlemann, Kelleher (Miller), Fisk,
Nolan, Heath-Preston, Frew. Unused subs: Nicholls, Vincent, Keegan, McAnally.
Att:368
In the other semi-final Clevedon beat Didcot after extra time - perhaps it is
some consolation that Lynn have been spared a long midweek trip but for the
fans it was a cold night with little to cheer.
Saturday 1 March
Huntingdon 2 Lynn Youth 4
Goals in the 8th. 18th. 38th. & 41st. minutes from Walker, Setchell, Drawbridge and
Vincent gave Lynn a 4-0 half time lead over Huntingdon in their E.C.L. Youth Cup
tie played at Huntingdon.
The 'home' side pulled two goals back after the interval, but
Lynn held out to win 4-2.
Lynn are away to Deeping Rangers in the next round - scheduled for Wednesday 19 March
Should they reach the semi-final they have been drawn at home to
Buntingford Town or Newmarket Town.
Saturday 1 March
King's Lynn 0 Hitchin Town 0
Lynn moved back to top spot in the league on a day which saw all except one of
the top seven teams drop points.
Hitchin, struggling against relegation, never let Lynn settle but it was Lynn's
finishing that was their undoing. An uneventful first half saw the keeper's leg
deny Danny Bloomfield for what was Lynn's best chance.
The second half was marginally better with more play in and around the visitor's
box but Lynn lacked finishing with Joe Francis shooting wide on three occasions
when well placed. When he did got a shot on target - with five minutes remaining,
the ball hit the keeper and went for a corner.
Hitchin's best chance came early minutes into the second half when Scott Howie
denied Paul and Mark Barnes in quick succession.
Lynn tried Danny Bloomfield with Michael Frew, giving John Turner a more central
striking role and then introduced Matt Nolan in place of Turner but, although
pressure may have increased the goals did not come.
Jack Defty saw his header well saved in the closing minutes but it was a disappointing
performance - but a point that put Lynn back on top of the league.
Lynn: Howie, Bains, Chapman, Crane, Hoyte, Camm, Turner (Nolan), Sedgemore
(Fisk), J Defty, Bloomfield (Frew), Francis. Att: 1223
There was no game for Lynn Reserves - Lynn A won 6-1 against Gaywood.
Next week Lynn are in League Cup action against Heacham who are so far unbeaten
in the league.
Tuesday 26 February
Team Bath 0 King's Lynn 4
The starting line-up might have raised a few eyebrows but it proved that manager
Keith Webb's spying mission on The Students had been worthwhile as Lynn brushed
aside their title rivals - reducing Team Bath's lead to one point with another
interesting clash lined up at the Walks between theses sides in April.
Titles may not be won or lost in February but defeat for Lynn would have been a
massive blow.
First half chances were at a premium but Lynn deserved their half time lead -
the goal coming on 20 minutes when Jack Defty's shot was spilled by Students' keeper and Sami El-Abd attempt to clear ran straight into John Turner to score his eighth goal of the season.
Team Bath applied the pressure at the beginning of the second half but the match turned with the sending off of
defender Matt Lock on 62 minutes for a two-footed challenge on Ben Sedgemore.
On 74 minutes John Turner's pass on the Lynn right found Mark Camm who drew the keeper before laying the ball on to Jack Defty score from six yards.
Goal number three came with six minutes remaining after Warren had pulled down Defty - Joe Francis scoring from the resultant penalty.
Then in time added on Francis ran through from half way, evading three challenges placing the ball in the far corner of the net.
Lynn: Howie, Bains, Chapman, Hoyte, Crane, Camm. Carey (West 67), Sedgemore,
Turner (Frew 86), J Defty, Francis (Nolan 90). Unused Subs : Bloomfield,
Murray
Booked: Hoyte, Francis.
Saturday 23 February
King's Lynn 1 Halesowen Town 1
Lynn's highest league gate for just short of ten years saw a pulsating game in this Southern League Premier Division 'match of the day' at The Walks. Lynn's
midweek loan signings Rikki Bains, from Tamworth and Gavin Hoyte, from Cambridge United, went straight into the starting line up. It
was the visitors who had the better of the early possession with Scott Howie
making a brave double save on eight minutes to deny first Caskey and then
Brennan's follow-up. Lynn began to create chances of their own with Osborne
tipping Danny Bloomfield's shot over for a corner on 20 minutes. Mark
Camm prevented Halesowen taking the lead with a goal line clearance with Howie
beaten whilst on 37 minutes Lynn were awarded a free kick just outside the six
yard area for a back pass - with many Lynn fans believing that it should have
been a penalty for a foul on Bloomfield. Lynn took the lead on 55 minutes
when a Francis free kick found Jack Defty at the far post who headed back across
goal for Rikki Bains to head in from close range. The pace of the
first half fell away and it began to look as if Lynn were on their way to three
points but on 86 minutes a corner was only half cleared
to Yeltz's skipper Darren Caskey on the edge of the area and his shot took a
deflection from
Jay Denny to give Howie no chance. The visitors grew in confidence and Hamilton's
header was only
just over the bar in a tense finale.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Bains, Hoyte, Camm, Frew (Turner), Sedgemore, J Defty,
Bloomfield (Nolan), Francis. Unused Subs: C Defty, Fisk, Murray.

Gavin Hoyte becomes second loan signing
The Linnets have completed their second signing in the space of 24 hours with the capture of 21 year old
left footed defender Gavin Hoyte. The 6' 3 inch defender is on loan to Lynn from Cambridge United for the rest of the season.
The former Bedford Town captain joined the U's in June 2007 and made eleven
league appearances. If the name sounds familiar it could be because he scored
the first goal against Lynn in the FA Trophy tie last December.
Gavin recently spent time on loan at Hinckley United - scoring both goals in
their 2-2 draw with Gainsborough Trinity.
Thursday 21 February
Rikki Bains joins on loan from The Lambs
This morning KLFC have secured a month's loan deal with Tamworth FC for the services of 20 year old defender Rikki Bains. Rikki will train with
The Linnets this evening and will be in Keith Webb's squad for Saturday.
A trainee at Coventry City, he joined Tamworth in January 2007 having
previously played for Accrington Stanley and Leek Town.
He has made 17 appearances for The Lambs this season - although he was an unused
substitute when Lynn visited Tamworth in the FA Cup earlier in the season.
Saturday 16 February
Chippenham 2 King's Lynn 2
Lynn came from behind twice in a bruising encounter at Hardenhuish Park
The home side threw everything at Lynn from the start and took the lead on 18 minutes when a high ball into the Lynn area broke to Dave Pratt to give the Bluebirds a deserved lead.
Lynn did manage to apply pressure as the half progressed and the equaliser came on the stroke of half time.
Ben Sedgemore picked the ball up after Chippenham had failed to clear and his
pass to Danny Bloomfield was fed to Jack Defty who scored from close range.
Within three minutes of the restart the home side were back in front.
Dave Pratt got his second of the match after Gullick had found him unmarked.
Lynn levelled on 70 minutes when Price was adjudged to have handled and Joe Francis scored from the spot.
An unpleasant incident involving a number of players in the closing minutes saw Pratt sent off as the pressure began to tell on tempers.

Mark Warren
The club wish to confirm that Mark Warren's injury is a torn cartilage.
Late on Thursday manager Keith Webb and club secretary Martin Davis met a player with a view to him signing for the club and being available for selection for
Saturday's match at Chippenham Town.
However with all of the relevant paperwork in place at the eleventh hour the player had a change of heart and decided that he did not wish to join the club after all.
It is still the club's intention to have a new signing in place for next
Saturday's home game against Halesowen Town.
Tuesday 12 February
King's Lynn 4 Rugby Town 1
Lynn progressed to the semi-final of the errea cup and in doing so gained revenge for last season's defeat at the same stage of the competition.
For the second successive match Lynn went down to an early goal - Stringfellow
giving the visitors the lead on 10 minutes. Prior to that Lynn had already gone
close with Andrew Fisk hitting the bar. On 16 minutes Lynn equalised - Mark
Heath-Preston's header looked to be going out but Seamus Kelleher nipped in to
bundle it over the line.
Lynn had the better of the scoring chances but it was not until the 61st minute
that they took the lead - Stephen Harvey's cross coming off Heath-Preston and Matt Nolan
scoring..
With nothing to lose, the visitors attacked and in doing so left gaps which Lynn
exploited in the foggy closing minutes - Nolan slotted home from point-blank range
and goal creator turned scorer when Heath-Preston latched onto Fisk's ball into
space, held off a defender and rolled the ball into the empty net for a
deserved goal..

Saturday 9 February
King's Lynn 3 Banbury United 1
Many Lynn fans believe that Lynn are at their best when kicking towards the
Seven Sisters end of the ground - and this is traditionally what happens in the
second half. On Saturday Lynn found themselves facing the sun in the opening
half but still managed to produce their better football kicking in that
direction. They started brightly but fell behind on six minutes when Bridge
attacked from the Lynn right, beating Dean West before being brought down by Ben
Sedgemore. From the resultant spot kick Fuller sent Howie the wrong way.
Lynn fought back but a combination of the bar and the back of a defender on the
goal line prevented Lynn from equalising until the 27th minute when Jack Defty
scored from 10 yards. In the next minute Lynn gained the lead - Francis feeding
Danny Bloomfield to score his eighteenth goal of the season.
Banbury's defence was far from the biggest in the league and they found Jack
Defty a constant problem. Six minutes before the break Lynn completed the
scoring - Joe Francis rolling the ball into the net after a Frew cross had
escaped the attentions of Defty and Bloomfield.
The second half was something of dull affair in comparison with neither team
impressing although Banbury continued to try to get back into the game.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Warren, Crane, Camm (Fisk), Frew (Turner),
Sedgemore, J Defty, Bloomfield (Nolan), Francis. There were bookings for Danny

game. Att: 1174
Before the match a presentation was made to Jack Defty to mark his 250
first team appearances for the club - a milestone achieved last Saturday at
Clevedon. A further milestone was reached at the Banbury game - his 200th
Southern League appearance.
Lynn Reserves recorded a 5-0 win at Norwich United their biggest away win
of the season.
Seamus Kelleher put Lynn ahead on six minutes, a lead they held until half-time.
Six minutes into the second half Joe Woods added a second and 11 minutes later
Kelleher added a third with a shot from 30 yards. Mark Heath-Preston was next on
the scoresheet a couple of minutes later with a lob from outside the area.
The scoring was completed 12 minutes fro time when substitute Elliot Fiddy's
cross was dropped into his own net by home keeper James Scott.
Lynn: McNally, Gilchrist, Lake, Buhlemann, Miller, Harvey, Shadrack, Carey,
Heath-Preston, Woods, Kelleher.
Lynn A's game was postponed because of Norfolk U18 call-ups.

after a 1-2 with Danny Bloomfield, scored from 12 yards.

Saturday 26 January
King's Lynn 6 Swindon Supermarine 1
Lynn completed their first double of the season although few would have guessed the final scoreline with the clock showing
that 40 minutes had passed.
A bright start by the home side saw two corners in the opening two minutes but play became scrappy and it was clear that the visitors had not come just to defend with Ashley Edenborough looking dangerous but, fortunately for Lynn, unable to get a shot on target.
The game came to life with five minutes of the first half remaining. Francis set off on a left wing run and his fierce shot was parried away by Marine keeper To King into the path of Michael
Frew who scored with ease.
Five minutes later, however, the Lynn defence fell asleep when Chris Taylor, from the edge of the area, lobbed Scott Howie.
Lynn replied immediately when Dean West set up Jack Defty who beat two players before putting Lynn back in front within just seconds of the half-time whistle.
Despite the half time lead Lynn were still given a tongue lashing by manager Keith Webb during the interval and this seem to have paid dividends as Lynn increased their lead within five minutes of the restart - Michael
Frew's right wing cross was missed by Danny Bloomfield but Joe Francis was on hand to shoot home from a narrow angle on the left.
Lynn went further ahead on 62 minutes - Joe Francis scoring from the spot after Jack Defty had been tripped.
Goal number five fell to substitute Matt Nolan when Frew's lob beat the keeper and came back off the bar.
The scoring was completed on 78 minutes when a short corner went to Kieran Deane
whose low shot from some 20 yards managed to find its way through the
crowded goalmouth and past an unsighted keeper.
With nothing to lose, Marine continued to look for scoring chances with Sudbury
Draycott hitting the bar and then Nathan Lightbody forcing Howie into a diving
save.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, C Defty, Crane, Camm (Fisk), Frew (Deane), Sedgemore, J Defty, Bloomfield (Nolan) , Francis. Unused Subs: Turner, Murray
Mildenhall Town 1 Lynn Reserves 0
A controversial goal by Steve Spriggs against his former club decided this game.
There was a hint of offside in the build-up to his 67th minute winner.
Saturday 19 January
King's Lynn 1 Tiverton Town 1
Tiverton Town won the first corner of the game but it was Lynn who had the
better of the opening chances with Joe Francis putting into the side netting and
on six minutes Lynn took the lead - a Jack Defty 1-2 with Ben Sedgemore resulted
in the ball being fed to Mark Camm to slot home - his first goal since the 6-1
defeat of Cirencester in September 2006. Lynn continued to create the most
chances but often the final touch was either missing or off target. On three
occasions Lynn won free kicks just outside the visitors' penalty area but Lynn
failed to capitalise whilst at the other end Howie's legs denied Bockevski
in a rare Tiverton attack.
The second half continued in much the same pattern as the first with Lynn
creating the chances but not converting them into goals. John Turner, on for
Danny Bloomfield, had a good chance but took one touch to many before seeing his
shot blocked.
Lynn won three corners in succession but then the game swung to the other end.
First a free-kick taken on the Tiverton's left was flicked on for Bulley
to head wide of an open goal and then Howie made a brave save at the feet of Neale.
It was no surprise when, on 77 minutes, Botchevski's hard, low cross
was smashed in by substitute Gould.
Lynn responded but still the final touch alluded them. Dean West was substituted
as Lynn changed to just three at the back but the goal did not come. A
game that could easily have ended 5-2 finished in a draw and two points dropped
by Lynn.
Lynn: Howie, West (Nolan), Chapman, Warren, Crane, Camm, Frew (Deane), Sedgemore, J Defty, Bloomfield (Turner), Francis. Unused Subs: Fleming, Murray

Michael Gash
Kings Lynn FC have today made a club record bid for Cambridge City striker Michael Gash.
This bid however has been rejected by Cambridge. Cambridge City FC are of the opinion that they will shortly be in
receipt of an offer four times bigger than the one made by Kings Lynn FC today.
Whilst the club is still very keen to strengthen its squad it is not prepared to pay very large and inflated amounts
of moneys for players which could possibly put the club's finances under strain.
Saturday 12 January
King's Lynn 2 Rugby Town 0
Lynn thoroughly deserved their victory over Rugby and but for some wayward shooting and a couple of diving saves from the
visiting keeper Faulds the margin could have been bigger.
Jack Defty was the first to be unlucky on 14 minutes when his header from Joe Francis' corner hit the bar.
Shortly afterwards Mark Camm and Jack Defty both were off target.
On 26 minutes Lynn went ahead when Steve Melton's cross from the right found the head Joe Francis who made no mistake at the far post.
Lynn had a purple patch at the beginning of the second but still had difficulty getting the ball in the net.
Danny Bloomfield had a shot deflected away for a corner and then Jack Defty had a header saved at the expense of another corner.
Melton was denied again by Faulds and then Jack Defty had a spectacular overhead bicycle kick which hit the bar.
On 64 minutes Joe Francis' cross found Jack Defty whose headed home from close range.
Rugby were reduced to 10 men when Tom Breward picked up a second yellow
following for a two footed tackle on
Francis.
More chances were missed with Francis putting in a cross which just lacked the final touch and Dean West joining in with a strike which went high but it was a deserved victory and Lynn stay top of the league.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, C Defty, Crane, Camm (Fisk 80), Melton (Turner 62), Sedgemore, J Defty,

Tuesday 1 January
King's Lynn 2 Bedford Town 1
It may not have been as entertaining the Hemel Hempstead game but Lynn strengthened their position at the top of the league with a deserved victory over Bedford.
Danny Bloomfield was denied an opening goal on ten minutes when the visiting
keeper pulled off a one handed diving save to concede a corner.
On 19 minutes, however, Lynn took the lead when a deep cross from Joe Francis
found the head of Dan Buhlemann at the far post to give Lynn the lead.
Bedford had few chances on goal - their closest effort in the first half being a
free kick from Wolfe hit the bar.
