Linnets' Forum / Telford game
« on: December 16, 2012, 12:50:13 PM »
:scarf: a great game and as said in the interviews, a good advert for non league football.

Starting with Telford, I found them to be a better side than the Tamworth side we played last year. Their one touch passing was decent. The difference between them and Tamworth was pure confidence. When Tamworth got into shooting positions, they went for it....Telford just wanted to closer to the goal. A couple of positions their strikers got into would have been perfect for a confident striker to just hit it. Their defence had a player making his debut but that makes no excuse for the way Spriggs and Sam could run past them. I think they were not at their best but that takes nothing away from Lynn as a poor performance should still be above our level.

Overall: good at attacking and midfield area with just confidence needed. Defence needs fixing.

King's Lynn: amazing performance for a side who haven't been playing that well recently and a step 4 side. Matched the conference side for over 70mins. The only time I think Telford had the upper hand was just after the sending off. It seemed to take us time to adjust with a bot of tiredness tided in whereas Telford are getting used to playing with ten nowadays. Alex kept it level with a couple of great saves and it's good to see big phil getting some praise. I thought Sam Mulready was brilliant on the left hand side of the midfield while Spriggs had the left back in his pocket all day. Dunks ran forever and won the knock ons for Sam to chase, a tactic that could work even better in the league. Whether Watson did fly in two footed at one point doesn't matter as the ref made a decision during the game.

Overall: great commitment from the whole team and found a second wind in the last 10 mins. Just need to move this form into the league games. Thanks to Setch and all the club for days like these

Skybet have us at 13/5 to win and 5/2 for a draw.....not bad odds really considering the difference in leagues

:th_welcome: I know it's a week away and don't need reasons if you don't want to give but, what would your starting line up be for Saturday? Attacking? Set up for counter attack? Defensive for the odd goal?

P.s. before I put mine up, can someone confirm is Shane Tolley cup-tied? Obviously Gay is but didn't know if Tolley had actually played in the trophy for anyone this year.

It's happened and gone. Setch and the lads will learn from the mistakes and come back stronger. Maybe the trophy is a distraction... Though I hope not....but the togetherness of the trophy just needs to move back to the league as earlier in the season. Leek was difficult as the pitch didn't allow for a passing game ( probably more due to the weather prior to the game) but we have to adapt. I think the pressure needs to be behind the whole team. Some players receive critics for the same mistake that another does not. The pressure to play dunks for example from some fans is the same as when Jack was here. There shouldn't be that pressure. Yes Russell is a great player for us but all our players are good enough to win with or without the best player or two on the pitch.....as fans we need to show that belief too so the players can see we believe in them all. I'm certainly looking forward to Danny B's return as he found a lovely bit of form before the injury.

I hope so too but he's pulled together a great side here in terms of players as shown by the trophy run we are on. If he did decide to move on, I'd certainly wish him well as he has done a great job here since we reformed as especially since he took the hot seat alone

Why should any leave? We have two players on duel contracts and pat left......'at be this is the rainy day money??

Why would it be Setch's fault? Yes wrong formation or whatever but if the players can see that it's not working, they have every right to choose a different pass.

Right really can't be bothered to go through all these pages of arguing back and forward....a simple question (which may have been answered somewhere but not going to search) is as the trust members have not voted on anything apart from voting in their board each year, surely any significant progress with the club (especially where their funds could be used) should be something for them to vote on?

I agree with Jesus. What was the point of this whole discussion? Dan and Alex has gone in duel forms to get game time (+ for us!), JC has other things to deal with and doesn't want the club to suffer through lack of attention from himself (+ for us!) and if it all saves money too then what's wrong with that? Even when you are not struggling for money, then saving is allowed...save for future....save to bring another player in....save to improve the stadium....none of the things mentioned in this message makes weaker as a club than if they didn't happen. Yes we can fill the bench with Dan and Pedro but then when they are called on, they won't be as sharp.
