now now grissles the got some fantastic kids there playing

Not knocking them in the least, and i take my hat off to all the people who volunteer week in week out to run non-league and junior football all over the town.It is football at its very basic levels that gives us the stars of the future, the more support we give them the better, whether its community football, lower league football or just a kickabout in the sportshall at provvy.Bet a large number of forum readers remember Provvy, and i believe it is now threatened with closure.

Fully agree Grissles. Hats off to all Volunteers at Grass roots levels. It's what its all about. Without them there's nothing.

Whats going on at Provvy Street?

Vaguely remember watching one of the local TV news programmes either About Anglia or Look East. Mr Derrick Murphy, Leader of the NCC and Incinerator campaigner was seen playing snooker with youngsters at Providence Street then a few weeks later was being interviewed and asked why NCC had withdrawn their subsidy/grant that went towards the running of the venue.

It does appear that the NCC and a few others appear to have lost touch, and really have their priorities wrong.

Well done Jack.

Loopy. Who sponsor's The Discovery Boys?
[/quote

Had a good chat with jack last night, top bloke for handing out the trophies for us. In regards to sponsorship we all have to try and gain our own sponsors at each age level. I'm a coach for the discovery under 9s,  who were recently crowned champions in the mid Norfolk youth league. We are currently looking for a sponsor due to a local restaurant pulling out after promising to be our sponsor for a few months now which has left us short in trying to secure new kit and equipment for next season. The lads we have are a fantastic bunch and there is a lot of ability in the squad going forward. So in posting on here I'm hoping maybe we can secure some sponsorship for new kit which would obviously display the company/persons name on the kit giving some welcome advertisement. If there are any interested parties please get in touch with me and I will forward details and numbers to the relevant person. Roll on next season. :keepyuppy: :scarf:

What you reckon Grissles? Something Trust and its members would be interested it?

As a firm supporter and member of the Trust and sponsor of this web site and another Local football team I would be disappointed to see the Trust sponsoring a football club.  That is not the role of Supporters Trusts.
It's only words at the end of the day.

I wouldn't think about going as far as sponsoring a club, but maybe offering suppott in some way could be discussed?
“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know what no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Would not completely agree with you 100% on that one Kevin, but I understand where you are coming from and respect your opinion.

Ok, I can see where The Trust would have to be very careful with any kind of sponsorship. I think I can see where you are coming from and there may be conflicts of interests, which should be avoided.

I'll take it back. Bad idea.

Good idea bit of the old sponsorship
From the trust. Would investing in the future of Kings Lynn football club be in the remit of the Trust ?
What they did was monstrous.
And they have created a monster.

If the Trust was to offer any kind of Sponsorship then surely this should be offered to the Club, maybe the Reserves would be the best vehicle for this. If the Trust started throwing out sponsorship to anything outside then it could open the floodgates for requests if this nature. Then there will be questions asked as to why one would have been favoured over another.

theyre doing just fine.Lots of activity and and hard work and no need to waste fans money on these types of things and as the previous poster said they are saving money for a rainy day

Trust blog
Recently three Trust officials had a meeting with the Young Carers organisation in King’s Lynn and asked them if we could help by laying on a variety of activities for the youngsters. One of the problems they had was organising transport to bring children in from the outlying villages for some respite time on Wednesday evenings. We were able to arrange for a minibus from the Discovery Centre in North Lynn to do this, under our guidance, and we are grateful to the Centre Manager, Jimmy Yallop, for his assistance. Additionally we are arranging for Dan and his coaches to provide some sporting activity during these sessions.

We have also been able to organise monthly football coaching sessions in South Lynn for the children of families affected by drugs and alcohol abuse.

We continue to run an after school sports club at Eastgate School and, after Easter are starting a similar club at Middleton school with emphasis on KWIK cricket for the Summer term. Barrett Batchelor Mortgage Services have kindly offered to sponsor the equipment for this and we thank them for their support.

Additionally, following an appeal for assistance in the Lynn News, we have taken over the running of the Youth Club at Middleton. This meets from 6.30 till 8.30 every Friday fortnight for children 8 years old and up in the Village Hall which is opposite the school in Middleton. This is primarily for local children but we are pleased to extend an invitation to the children of Trust members who may wish to attend. Dates and further information can be obtained via the CONTACT US facility on our website.

Finally, your Trust is joining MOMENTUM which is the umbrella body for youth activity in Norfolk. Membership will provide access to various grants which, if gained, will help us to develop our community activities. Our thanks go to Marcus Rose for sponsoring the annual membership fee.

Big thumbs up to them.Keep the money for the club and the rainy day as always planned

Nice to hear they actually get involved with the fund raising themselves. That's the way to do it. All sounds well organised down there.

Just to update members re the Trust's community activities. We recently had a meeting with a representative from BREAK which is a Sheringham based fostering charity. They are very active in Lynn and we will be meeting them again in July to explore further any sporting activities we can organise for the youngsters in foster care locally.

We do make it very clear from our initial contacts with organisations such as BREAK and the Young Carers in the town that our input is organisational rather than financial. In other words we don't spend Trust funds on them but put together activities which Trust officials run at no cost to the Trust.

I know for sure that our input into the Young Carers meetings on a Wednesday evening has made a huge difference to their finances without costing the Trust a penny and that is the policy we intend to pursue as we talk to other groups.
