I think it would be best to loan him out.Its not a case of him letting us down but he is a young lad and had to be on the absolute top of his game to even hold his own on the times he played last season and that was a lower level. No time for sentiments either as the money saved could be used elsewhere and loaning him out means he's still ours for the future and he gets much needed valuable experience.everyones a winner

If Setch is to use Fryatt who will he leave out, Watson, Wall or Gulliver ? Can't see it

I heard the Dereham story as well but as it could not be tied up they had to look elsewhere. I would guess that if Gaughran had not had done a u turn, Fryatt would have been loaned out to them. Perhaps Setch dare not let him go while we were light on numbers, which makes sense. Now the problem is what to do with him especially if Setch is balancing the books. As Cary said who will he leave out, Watson, Wall or Gulliver? Thats unless he's planning to have him as bench warmer.
What they did was monstrous.
And they have created a monster.

Nothing is to say that Loopy, but who would make way for him ? If anyone it would have to be last seasons skipper

Can't see the likes of Wall big travelling distance or Gulliver big travelling distance and big money not to mention dropping down 2 levels, being left out to accommodate Fryatt. So who is the better right back Watson or Fryatt ? For me neither seem a natural in that position

who told you hes been training hard loopy.Thats exactly the point Cary.Who makes way?The question is not just if Fryatt is good enough its do we have better alternatives? If last years Skipper is left out and he also loses the captains armband as has been hinted at we will have one of our best players unhappy before we are a couple of games into the season. As was said in an earlier post unless the plan is to have fryatt bench warming it makes sense to loan him out whatever way you look at it

but then dont you think that if fryatt plays well as any of the players are on form that you cant drop them ,in any squad it comes down to what players are on form that gets picked

Will you be there? Its just that I thought you said it was a pointless game and we may as well have had a game against Reffley Royals.

I dont understand why lots of people would get rid of Fryatt. I think hes a good local player with bags of potential and he is only going to get better.

IMO

My opinion also. As we don't have an obvious candidate for the right back postion, other than perhaps Bully, I would have thought that he might compete on merit for it?

If the Manager was happy with Watson he would not have signed another centre half. Both Watson and Fryatt will cost you games at RB as did Deeney last year. Gulliver is also quite slow so you need pace next to him.Seems you had good alternatives but they left.also bear in mind your right winger goes missing defensively

If we've got it that wrong, we may as well not bother!

Lol.

Still think we need a right back as well

My thoughts exactly!
who makes way if we are maxed out on budget

Bully?

Would keep Bully ahead of Fryatt.  Still think we are weak right across the midfield, options at the back (just) and up front, but still don't think we have four players capable of starting at step 4 in midfield.
We should do considering how well our midfield played at Tamworth last year and now we have strengthened.Prob do need a right back though.

Perhaps Setch is considering playing a back three - Watson, Gulliver, Wall? Or possibly Watson as a holding mid fielder - seem to recall him playing there before? Don't see him as a long term solution at right back.
