Lynn went down to their second defeat of the season in a game that was largely decided by three first half penalties.
Despite Saturday's 4-2 reverse against Biggleswade, manager Simon Clark kept faith in same starting eleven with just Lee Beevers coming onto the bench instead of Matty Castellan.
Kettering had midfielder Marcus Kelly available following international clearance but were without a recognised striker.
The first spot kick, on five minutes, was the result of long ball downfield from Poppies' 'keeper Paul White which found Rhys Hoeness who easily beat Ryan Fryatt who hauled him down. Hoeness took the resulting penalty, sending Alex Street the wrong way.
Just before the half hour Ryan Hawkins was fouled by former Linnet Nathaniel Rowe-Turner but Michael Clunan's penalty was well saved by White, diving to his left.
Lynn lost Michael Gash to injury and then just before half time Hoeness once again had the beating of Fryatt with the outcome - another penalty and goal to give the Poppies a two goal half time lead.
Lynn started the second half more determined with Fryatt heading Clunan's corner wide and then on 64 minutes Clunan gave the visitors hope with a goal out of nothing, his shot from some 20 yards giving White no chance.
The remainder of the game saw Lynn with a lot of possession but with little reward in the way of shots on target.
