Lynn moved to within one point of league leaders York City with their second away win of the season to extend their unbeaten run to six games.
Manager Ian Culverhouse made one change to the starting line-up with Sam Kelly taking the place of Chris Henderson.
Home ’keeper Elliot Wynne was the first to be called into any serious action on five minutes but Michael Gash’s shot from 25 yards, following Adam Marriott’s mazy run, was straight at him.
On 11 minutes Wynne was again tested from long range, this time Marriott saw his effort tipped onto the bar.
The home side had their first chance three minutes later when Adam Clayton rose highest to meet an in-swinging cross from Will Hayhurst but his header went just wide of the upright.
Alfie Payne produced the next chance for the visitors but he fired wide following Sam Kelly’s flick on.
The outstretched leg of Dave Syers then managed to get on the end of a Jordan Richards’ cross from the right but the ball cannoned off Alex Street’s post and to safety.
The deadlock was broken on the half hour. It started with a good save from Wynne to deny Sam Kelly but Ben Atkinson failed to clear and Michael Clunan was on hand to pick up a loose ball and he set up Payne to shoot home from just inside the box.
Wynne was again in action three minutes later to deny Gash and at the other end a scramble saw shots from Hayhurst, Jack Higgins (twice) and then Jimmy Spencer all blocked.
Lynn doubled their lead on 35 minutes, the on-form Gash producing a curling effort from just outside the box.
Just before the break, Lynn had claims for a penalty turned down when Clunan was grounded but Lynn had to settle for a corner.
A scrappy opening to the second half saw chances at both ends with shots from Aaron Jones for Lynn and Jimmy Spencer for the hosts going wide.
Wynne then did well to get a hand to Payne’s shot and push it onto the bar but on the hour mark the Celts were awarded a penalty when Dave Syers was fouled just inside the box by Ryan Fryatt, Will Hayhurst converting from the spot.
The home side pressed for an equaliser without creating many serious chances whilst Chris Henderson had a chance to ensure the points came to Lynn but he fired wide as he heat took its toll on the players.
