It was inevitable that sooner of later Lynn would fail to score in home league match this season and that their unbeaten home record stretching back to 1st September 2018 would end. What was, perhaps, surprising was that it was lowly Kidderminster Harriers that inflicted it.
However, Lynn despite being unchanged from their victory over Blyth Spartans, were out-of-sorts, particularly in the first half, and the visitors were well disciplined and determined.
A quiet opening saw little in terms of chances but the deadlock was broken on 15 minutes when a Kidderminster
corner was not properly cleared and Alex Prosser was on had to thump home from just inside the area for what was their first effort of goal.
Lynn had appeals for a penalty turned down soon after when Chris Henderson’s ball from the right appeared to strike the arm of Ryan Johnson.
Lynn’s only real chance of the half came on 24 minutes when Rory McAuley got on the end of an Aaron Jones free kick but his looping header went just wide.
Samuel Austin and Austin Samuels each had close efforts and it was the former who was involved in the visitors’ second goal on 39 minutes.
Austin was fouled and with the Lynn side expecting play to stop Ashley Hemmings picked the ball up and crossed for Ashley Chambers to volley home.
Lynn introduced Dayle Southwell and Ryan Hawkins at the break as they threw everything at the visitors.
Southwell managed to break through the visitors’ defence three minutes after the restart but Will Mannion tipped the shot over at the expense of a corner.
Lynn pressured with Kidderminster happy to defend in depth and catch Lynn on the break.
Gash had a 68th minute cross the eluded everyone but Kidderminster weathered the storm and produce chances of their own with Samuels forcing Alex Street into a good save.
Adam Marriott was having an unusually quiet game and not getting the service he thrives on but Lynn’s leading scorer did have a good chance on 72 minutes when he got on the end of a high ball but his volley went over.
Sonny Carey and Gash had chances that were off target while at the other end substitute Samir Nabi and Hemmings both tested Street,
