Andy Claxton was a local policeman who played in goal for Lynn some seven years to 1988 making 318 appearances and became only the second keeper
to pass the 100 clean sheet mark. His playing career saw the success of the FA Cup run which to us to Bristol Rovers, the winning of the Northern Premier League
President's Cup, the experience of playing in Italy in the Anglo-Italian Competition, and relegation.
Only Billy Bedwell had kept more clean sheets (120 from 378 appearances from 1922-33) whilst few other keepers have passed the 200 appearance mark
- Norman Coe (267), Mick Manning (235), Ellis Gay (221), Jack Wall (204) and Gary Steel (200) being names that spring to mind.
