Ronnie Bacon |
Ronald Alfred Sydney Bacon was born on 4 March 1935 in Fakenham, Norfolk.
He began his professional career in 1955 with Norwich City on leaving the army and made 42 League appearances for the Canaries.
He moved to Gillingham in 1958, making a further 128 appearances in the League.
Ronnie was signed from Gillingham in 1961 having played in all but four of the Gills
league matches the previous season - scoring seven goals. Ronnie was at The Walks for some seven years, he was one of the quickest wingers
Lynn have ever had - his speed and powerful shot made Ron very popular with the fans. He played a major part in the 1961-62 cup run, scoring in the 4th
Qualifying Round against Dulwich Hamlet and against Chelmsford in the First Round Proper (which resulted in him knocking himself out).
He provided the cross that saw Mick Wright score against Coventry City.
After seven seasons with Lynn he went on to play for Downham.
