King's Lynn 3 Hitchin Town 0
Lynn completed the double over The Canaries and so avenged last season's results.
Danny Bloomfield got Lynn off to an ideal start on two minutes. Sam McMahon's shot was saved and the ball fell to Bloomfield who shot from an acute angle. Although the ball was cleared the assistant referee ruled that the ball had crossed the line.
On 22 minutes Lynn went further ahead. An Adam Smith cross found Matt O'Halloran at the far post, he put the ball back across goal and Jack Defty headed home for his 7th goal of the season. Lynn were then thwarted on two more occasions in as many minutes as they lay siege to the Hitchin goal.
Lynn lost the services of Cedric Anselin (groin) and Grant Cooper (clash of heads) before half time.
Also injured was the referee, Mr Sannerude, the fourth official being called upon.
The second half had something of a dull start with Hitchin getting more of the play, although never really testing John Higgs. Lynn went close to adding a third but Wilmot, in the Hitchin goal, did well to save a Smith shot and then Danny Hammond went close with a header from the resulting corner.
On 78 minutes the result was put beyond doubt when the ball fell to Matt Nolan who brushed off the tackle of one defender before rounding Wilmot to see the ball trickle home.
The game never reached the heights of that of the Grantham match but a clean sheet and three points are a pleasant enough way to end 2005.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper (Hammond), Camm, J Defty (Fell), Anselin (Carey), Nolan, Bloomfield, Anselin. Unused subs: Harvey, Heath-Preston.. Att 928

King's Lynn 3 Grantham Town 1
What a difference a year makes. Last season it was a home defeat for Lynn in front of the smallest home league gate of the season. This season a deserved victory in front of a crowd of 1,118.
Lynn started brightly but early efforts from Danny Bloomfield and a Jack Defty header went straight to Gingerbreads' keeper Mario Ziccardi. Grantham took the lead on 8 minutes when Grant Cooper took too long on the ball and then stumbled allowing Jason Turner to run through and score.
Lynn continued to play the better football and have territorial advantage but it wasn't until the 36th minute when they deservedly equalised. A quick game of head tennis resulted in the ball falling to Danny Bloomfield who put the ball across goal and in at the far post.
Grantham won a couple of corners just before half time but this was the nearest they ever came to apply any degree of pressure.
The second half saw little change as Lynn dominated but Ziccardi pulled off some fine saves, particularly from Bloomfield and Adam Smith, as the visitor's goal lead a charmed life. Lynn deservedly took the lead in the 75th minute when a cross from O'Halloran met the head of Jack Defty. Then in time added on Jack Defty curled a goal from outside the area to give a scoreline which was more of a reflection of Lynn's dominance.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty, Anselin, Hammond (Nolan), Bloomfield, O'Halloran (Carey). Unused subs: C Defty, McNeil, Heath-Preston.
26 December 2005
Completing his move on Boxing Day was Shaun Carey.
The former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international has been linked with a
move to Lynn for some weeks.
The 30-year-old, Kettering-born, former Republic of Ireland under-21
international signed for Norwich City in July 1994, making his debut in
September 1995 and went on to make 76 appearances, being released by the
Canaries in April 2000.
He signed for then non-League Rushden & Diamonds in the August of that year
but did not feature regularly once they were promoted to the League and after a
spell on loan with Stevenage Borough, joined Chester City in February 2002.
History repeated itself once more with Chester winning the Conference and
Carey not being part of subsequent League team.
He then joined Hornchurch during their "big-spender" days in May 2004
but missed much of the season through injury and from their moved to Weymouth in
July 2005.
He then moved on to Droylsden the following October.
Lynn Reserves succumbed to Dereham on Boxing Day, going a goal down on six minutes and eventually losing 3-0. A result which might have been greater had Duncan McNally not saved a penalty from ex-Linnet Chris Bacon. Barrett two goals (6 and 41) and White(65) were the Dereham scorers.
24 December 2005
Lynn have signed Matt Nolan who was released from his short term
contract at Cambridge United earlier in the week.
The former Peterborough front man, 23, (b. 25/02/82) joined the U's in the summer but
failed to score in ten Conference appearances.
Nolan was with Hitchin at the start of the 2002-03 season and was signed by
Peterborough United in September 2003 after impressing when he played against
them in a friendly. Whilst at The Posh he was plagued with injury and had a
double hernia operation. He made two appearances as
substitute, and had periods on loan to St Albans (scoring 3 goals in seven appearances)
and then, at the beginning of 2004, Cambridge City before signing for the U's in August 2005.

The draw for the Third Round of the Ridgeons' League Cup is:

Matches to be played on Tuesday March 7th 2006
20 December 2005
Cirencester 0 Lynn 2
Two goals by Matt O'Halloran in the 30th and 55th minutes move Lynn up to fourth in the table.
Adam Jones and Danny Bloomfield had chances in the opening 20 minutes whilst
Gareth Hopkins was inches off connecting a Lee Smith cross on 28 minutes for the home side.
Lynn took the lead on the counter-attack when Jones cut the ball back to Bloomfield.
Although the strikers shot was blocked O'Halloran was on the hand to score from 12 yards.
The home side pressured at the beginning of the second half but never troubled
Higgs
Lynn went two up on 55 minutes through controversial circumstances with appeals that Bloomfield handled the ball before
feeding O'Halloran to score.
Cirencester tried to come back into the game but Lynn, with Grant Cooper
man-of-the-match, held on for a deserved win.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, J Defty (Hammond 70), Anselin, Jones, Bloomfield, O'Halloran (Heath-Preston

Adam Jones will begin a three match suspension on 24 December following
his sending off against Mangotsfield
17 December 2005
Northwood 0 King's Lynn 1
After a bright opening for Lynn which saw chances for Cedric Anselin and Danny Bloomfield the home side gradually came into the game.
Higgs did well to deny a Clark free kick and then on 58 minutes Lynn, through O'Halloran and Bloomfield, hit each upright before the ball went out of play.
On 75 minutes Adam Smith scored Lynn's winner. Jack Defty fed Danny Hammond and his cross found Smith whose shot took a deflection to give Nicholson in the Northwood goal no chance.
Northwood through everything forward but Lynn's defence held firm with Higgs once again making a vital save to give Lynn the points and Lynn's fifth clean sheet in the league this season.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, Camm, Defty, Anselin, Jones, Bloomfield, O'Halloran
(Hammond). Subs: Fell, Harvey, McNeil.
Lynn Reserves 2 AFC Sudbury 4
Lynn gave a debut to former Norwich United midfielder Lee West but were without the suspended Lee Hyde and found themselves a goal down in 31 seconds.
Paul Abrahams made good progress down the left beating two Lynn players before crossing to David Head to head home - a goal which Duncan McNally will probably think he should have saved.
For the first 20 minutes Lynn were on the back foot and but for some dreadful finishing (highlighted by Head's shot from three yards out which went for a throw!) should have been at least three up before Tom White produced a curling shot went just wide on 20 minutes - which was Lynn's first attempt worthy of the name. Peters then shot just over as Lynn came more into the game.
The second half saw Lynn still have a slight advantage but the game turned on 59 minutes when Tony English scored from what was an offside position - so offside that even the player stopped to check before running through to score.
Lynn pulled a goal back when Mark Heath-Preston won a corner on 59 minutes which he took himself and he found Charlie Defty who shot home.
Two soft penalties follow with Clayden scoring for Sudbury on 70 minutes and Mark Heath-Preston for Lynn two minutes later.
Any hopes Lynn had of an equaliser disappeared on 85 minutes when Clayden bundled home from a corner.
Lynn: McNally, Gaughran, Buhlemann, McCullum, D Miller, C Defty, West, Peters, Heath-Preston, Bond, White (Forshaw). Att: 186
10 December 2005
King's Lynn 1 Mangotsfield United 1
Referee Mr Blackledge last visited The Walks when Lynn entertained Team Bath
- on that occasion one player was dismissed from each side - Lynn's James Bunn
seeing red.
For the visit of league leaders Mangotsfield United, Mr Blackledge was once
again a important player - in fact he could almost claim an assist in the Lynn
goal after three minutes as he was involved in the original move that broke down
after three minutes. However, the visitors failed to clear their lines and a
neat one-two between Jack Defty and Danny Bloomfield saw Bloomfield rifle home
his 50th goal for the club.
However the referee's unpopularity reached new heights on 15 minutes when
Adam Jones was booked for a foul on Ross Casey. This was Jones' first
offence whilst Mangotsfield's Ellis Wilmot had already been spoken two twice.
Justice, was however, done five minutes later when Wilmot eventually was booked
with Drew Shore following soon afterwards.
Jones was then shown a straight red on the half hour for a reverse head butt
after some pushing had occurred while waiting for a goal kick to be taken.
Despite being reduced to ten men Lynn were by far the better team and could
have increased their lead just before half time when a Jack Defty header from a
corner was cleared off the line. Little was seen of the Mangotsfield attack -
their best effort being a half chance following a misunderstanding in the Lynn
defence but John Higgs raced out to clear.
Lynn had further chances at the beginning of the second half with Cooper going
close and then Bloomfield having a shot well saved but the match was becoming
more of an end-to-end affair as Lynn began to tire.
Mangotsfield equalised on 66 minutes when substitute David Anyinsah headed home
- probably their only effort of the match that was worthy of note.
Lynn: John Higgs, Dean West, Adam Smith, Sam McMahon, Grant Cooper, Adam
Jones, Mark Camm, Cedric Anselin (Danny Hammond 75), Jack Defty, Danny
Bloomfield, Matt O'Halloran
Mangotsfield: Danny Greaves, Mark Summers, Drew Shore (Alex Ball 80), Rob Cousins, Gary Warren, Ellis Wilmot,
Chris Lane (Dave Anyinsah 51), Ross Casey, Robbie Claridge, Dave Seal (James
Zabek 22), Luke Prince. Unused Sub Tom White.

Lynn Reserves 3 Cambridge City Reserves 2
Two goals from Matty Peters and one from Troy Bond put Lynn through to the Third
Round of the the Ridgeons League Cup. Lynn took the lead twice but were pegged
back before Troy Bond's winner.
Att: 116
The draw for the next round will be from the following: Diss Town
Lowestoft Town, Tiptree United, AFC Sudbury, Leiston, Mildenhall Town, King's Lynn Reserves,
Bury Town or Soham Town Rangers
09 December 2005
Lynn have given up in their attempt to sign a former Norwich City midfielder,
29 year old Shaun Carey who was recently playing for Conference North side Droylsden..
3 December 2005
Halesowen Town 0 King's Lynn 0
Lynn have played 360 minutes without scoring against Halesowen.
Cooper had Lynn's best chance of the first half when his 18th minute 25 yarder was deflected over for a corner.
At the other end Higgs put in another good performance saving at leader scorer Nathan Lamey's feet on one occasion and blocking another effort just before half time.
A Bloomfield effort on 55 minutes which had the beating of the Yeltz keeper was just off target in what was probably Lynn's best effort.
Higgs had the last word when he saved Lynn by stopping a point-blank shot from Forrington.
Another blank sheet against the Yeltz but the first point in four meetings.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, Harvey, Cooper, Jones, Fell (J Defty), Anselin
(Hammond), Camm, Bloomfield, O'Halloran. Subs: McNeil
King's Lynn Reserves 2 Ipswich Wanderers 1
Lynn Reserves deserved this victory over the side one place below them in the
league. In fact the margin might have been greater but for Ipswich keeper Jamie
Stannard who was commanding in the air. Lynn had the better of the opening
exchanges but high crosses into the box were easily dealt with by the visiting
keeper. Lynn took the lead on 32 minutes when a long throw resulted in a
scramble in the Ipswich box and the ball came to Mark Heath-Preston just inside
the area who hammered home.
The equaliser came five minutes before half time., A free kick on the Lynn right
was met at the far post by Jason Dozzell who headed home.
The main action of the second half came just after the hour.
Wanderers had Marc Lowe sent off for a second bookable offence on 65 minutes.
Two minutes later Lynn retook the lead through Matthew Peters, once again taking
advantage of a poor clearance to score from just outside the area.
Two minutes later Tom White was show a straight red card to reduce both teams to
ten men.
Lynn had further chances but many of these were straight at Stannard and the
game tended to peter out although Ipswich had chances to equalise late on
with Duncan McNally making a good save and then Ipswich putting a header over
with the goal at their mercy.
Lee Hyde and Mark Heath-Preston were also booked for Lynn.
Lynn: McNally, McCallum, Buhlemann, Hyde, Miller, C Defty, Peters,
Heath-Preston, Forshaw, Bond (Keegan), White. Att: 125

1 December 2005
Lynn Youth defeated their Grantham counterparts 5-1 on Thursday evening. It was the Gingerbreads first league defeat of the season and revenge for Lynn who lost to the Gingerbreads in the League Cup last month.
Lynn's latest transfer target is Newmarket Town striker Sam Reed, currently on trial with Southend United.

29 November 2005
King's Lynn 5 Corby Town 0
Lynn began their defence of the league cup with an easy victory against the
Eastern Division leaders.
Lynn took the lead on 13 minutes when a cross on the Lynn left found the head of
Jack Defty who put the ball back across goal for Danny Bloomfield to head into
the roof of the net.
Lynn dominated the remainder of the first half but most goal mouth action was
confined to the edge of the Corby goal area. That, however, seems to be enough
for Lynn as the remaining goals all came from a distance and were of excellent
quality. On 40 minutes Mark Heath-Preston exhibited good close control when challenged
by the opposing defenders and sent in a low shot from the edge of the area.
Then with a minute of the first half remaining it was Adam Jones' turn to shoot
from outside the box to put Lynn three up.
Matty Peters was introduced for Matt O'Halloran at half time and Lynn continued
to dominate. On 61 minutes Adam Smith added to Lynn's tally, once again from
outside the area and then on 77 minutes it was substitute Tom White's turn to
score. A poor clearance found White on the edge of the area and he curled a shot
round the keeper and into the top corner of the net. Corby did have one effort
that hit the upright late on but the score reflected the play and Lynn now await
Friday's draw.

The Robins took the lead on 55 minutes but Lynn forced an equaliser through Danny
Hammond in the 84th minute. Lynn were without Jack Defty who was ruled out with
a back injury.

(Harvey), Hammond, Bloomfield, O'Halloran. Subs: Jones,
Lynn Reserves 5 Attleborough Town 2
Lynn were made to work harder than many might have expected against
opposition two levels below them.
On 5 minutes a Mark Heath-Preston corner was met by Try Bond but his header
was cleared off the line.
On the quarter hour mark a Tom White shot was spilled by the home keeper but
Lynn failed to take advantage. A minute later, however, Lynn took the lead
through Matthew Peters, celebrating his 19th birthday. His initial shot was
blocked but when Attleborough failed to clear he was given a second opportunity
and made no mistake.
Three minutes later the scores were level. Nial McCallum fouled John King and
Phil King followed up to score after Duncan McNally had saved his spot kick.
When Mark Heath-Preston was fouled some ten minutes later it was Lynn's turn for
a penalty - Tom White's kick squirming under the visiting keeper.
In the 45th minute Lynn went 3-1 up - Mark Heath-Preston's cross from the left
finding Troy Bond who chipped a shot from the edge of the area.
John King brought the visitors back into the match on 57 minutes but Lynn
fought back and Tom White restored the two goal margin on 64 minutes.
Lynn had chances to increase their lead but had to wait until the 82nd
minute when Mark Heath-Preston scored the goal of the game from the edge of the
area. There was still time for Attleborough to hit the bar and Liam Forshaw to
have a goal disallowed for offside as Lynn progressed through to the
quarter-final.
Lynn: McNally, McCullum, Buhlemann, Dancey (Forshaw), D Miller, C Defty,
Peters, Hyde, Heath-Preston, Bond (Gaughran), White (Keegan). Att 151.
21-22 November
Two days of rumours, seemingly contradictory statements from the football clubs of Histon and King's Lynn but come the end of the day Danny Bloomfield is still a King's Lynn player.
Following Tommy Taylor's statement on Radio Norfolk on Friday evening that leading scorer Danny Bloomfield was staying at The Walks, Monday saw rumours that Cambridge City were interested in signing him and that he had been to Milton Road and the Glassworld Stadium. Confusion about the deal followed with denials of rumours that it involved another player in exchange as well as a five figure amount.
A statement from Lynn said that the club wanted to keep him and had offered an extension to his contract whilst one from Histon that appeared in the Cambridge Evening News suggested that both player and club had agreed the deal.
Later statements said that Lynn had had pulled out of the deal where, elsewhere, it was denied that a deal had ever been agreed.
All in all a day of confusion but with a result that Lynn fans wanted - Danny Bloomfield is a King's Lynn player - although come the opening of the transfer window . . .
One other point, the interest in this saga resulted in over 8,000 "hits" on this website during the day and 8,934 the following day.
19 November 2005
Lynn Reserves 9 Diss Town 6
With the Lynn game at Merthyr postponed Lynn included Jack Defty, Martin McNeil
and Adam Jones in the starting line-up.
Lynn had managed just the one goal in their last five league games.
Lynn got off to an ideal start with a goal on two minutes, Stephen Harvey
crossing from the edge of the area and Jack Defty side-footing home.
Ex-Linnet Coren Hardy equalised for the visitors on 12 minutes.
On 26 minutes another former Linnet, Matty Wright, put Diss ahead after Lynn
failed to clear a corner. Diss were beginning to dominate and should have gone
further ahead but for dithering in front of the Lynn goal by both the Lynn
defence and the Diss strikers.
Lynn were finding it difficult to get the better of the Diss offside trap.
Mark Heath-Preston equalised for Lynn on 36 minutes - his shot taking a
deflection off Diss's Aaron Richards.
Four minutes from half-time and Jack Defty caught Matty Wright dwelling on the
ball and set up Luke Fell to pit Lynn ahead.
Two minutes later and Mark Heath-Preston put Lynn 4-2 up - glancing home a Fell
cross from the Lynn left.
Four minutes into the second and Diss pulled a goal back through Neil Plaskett.
Duncan McNally saved at the feet of Andy Key and needed lengthy treatment
as Diss applied pressure.
Lynn scored with their first serious attack of the second half - a Jack Defty
header hitting the far post and trickling in (5-3). Two minutes later Matthew Peters was one of three Lynn
players who found themselves with just the Diss keeper between them and the goal
- Peters finished with ease to make the score 6-3.
Mark Heath-Preston completed his hat trick with a penalty two minutes later
- his eleventh goal of the season.
Heath-Preston then turned provider - Luke Fell finishing off, 8-3
Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch it was Diss's turn to score with goals
from Coren Hardy and Dale Vince pulling the score back to 8-5.
With five minutes left Jack Defty provided the goal of the match. Heath Preston
broke down the left, passed to Luke Fell and his cross was hammered home by Jack
Defty from the edge of the area.
Diss, who won this match on corners, applied pressure and Lynn escaped goalmouth
scrambles and shots just wide of the post but eventually conceded goal number
six through Jake Berry in the final seconds of a remarkable game.

18 November 2005
Danny Bloomfield has been the subject of an approach
from another club. The bid, reported to be £10,000 plus a player, comes at a time when
Bloomfield's progress is being tracked at least one league club.
Bloomfield's two year contract at The Walks expires at the end of the season, after which he becomes a free agent.
On Radio Norfolk's "Local Report" manager Tommy Taylor said
that he had spoken to Bloomfield who had turned down the offer.
16 November 2005
Despite the inclusion of Dean West, Martin McNeil, Danny Hammond, Jack Defty and Cedric Anselin in the startling line-up, Lynn Reserves went down 3-0 at home to Mildenhall Town on Wednesday night - all the goals coming in the opening 20 minutes.
In the League Cup, Lynn Reserves will entertain Cambridge City Reserves on 7 December, they overcame Ely City 2-1 in the First Round tie on Wednesday evening.
In the starting line-up was new signing Stefan
Dancy.a former Peterborough United Youth and Reserve Team player The central midfielder includes Deeping Rangers, Spalding United and Cambridge City
amongst his previous clubs. Dancy played for Kettering in the 2003-04 season
making one start and seven appearances as substitute.
12 November 2005
King's Lynn 4 Gloucester City 0
It is often the case that when a team is at the bottom end of the table, Lady
Luck deserts you. So it was for Gloucester who played more like the home team in the
first thirty minutes of this game. Although they had the possession, however,
their chances were invariably off target. Lynn took the lead on five minutes. A
clearance from Gloucester keeper Matt Bath went straight to the head of Jack
Defty who nodded the ball into the path of Danny Bloomfield who held off the
attentions of two defenders to put Lynn one up.
Gloucester continued to press and probe but crosses were missed and shots were
off target. On the half hour Lynn went two up. The Gloucester City defence
blocked rather than cleared a shot and Danny Hammond was on hand to put Lynn two
up.
Two minutes later and Gloucester were awarded a penalty when Dave Wilkinson went
to ground. Neil Mustoe put the ball to John Higgs' left but the Lynn keeper had
guessed correctly and the ball went for a corner. Marvin Thompson then missed an
open goal for the visitors and Higgs pulled off another save as the game flowed
from end to end. In the last minute of the first half Matt O'Halloran had a shot
blocked by the feet of Matt Bath.
Wilkinson shot just wide at the start of the second half to give Lynn an early
wake-up call but Lynn responded with their third goal - an Adam Smith driven
shot-cum-cross being deflected into the net by Mustoe for Lynn's third goal.
Lynn's fourth came from the boot of Danny Bloomfield. Gloucester were pressing
and a ball out of the Lynn defence fell into the Gloucester half. Bloomfield,
still a couple of yards in the Lynn half ran through to put the ball past Matt
Bath.
Chances continued at both ends at Gloucester deserved a consolation - but it was
just not to be.
The result takes the pressure off Lynn and puts attention on on-the-field
matters for once - but the lowest gate of the season, 690, must make Lynn
officials wonder what they have to do to get the fans back. Positive results in
the next two difficult away games might help.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, Hammond, Cooper (Jones), McNeil, Defty, Anselin
(Harvey), Camm, Bloomfield, O'Halloran (Fell).
Kirkley 2 Lynn Reserves 1
Troy Bond got Lynn's goal on 54 minutes with a far post header from Tom White's cross but Lynn were already 2-0 down at that stage. Goals by Chenery (9 minutes) and Highfield (51) had given the home side a half-time lead.
5 November 2005
Lynn 1 Aylesbury United 1
It was a game almost as dull as the weather.
Martin McNeil had Lynn's first chance on 9 minutes but his close range header
was palmed out by Ducks' keeper Rashid.
There was little goalmouth incident to note until Aylesbury took the lead on 25 minutes - Paul Edgeworth lobbing Higgs at close range.
Lynn responded almost immediately with Matt O'Halloran shooting just wide. Jack
Defty then had a shot well saved whilst Higgs pulled off a good save
but was well beaten on 45 minutes - but O'Halloran headed off the goal line to
keep Lynn in the game.
Somehow the second half managed less goalmouth incident than the first. There
was a goalmouth scramble on 52 minutes but Rashid got down to save on the line.
Three minutes later it was Aylesbury's turn to go close with a shot which
flashed just wide. Lynn gave Luke Fell his first team debut and then introduced
Danny Hammond as a forward as they searched for a goal. Within a minute Lynn were
level. A Jack Defty shot hit an Aylesbury defender and the loose ball fell just in
front of Danny Bloomfield who shot through Rashid's legs for a typical goal poacher's
strike in the 74th minute.
Bloomfield was then brought down when through on goal but the referee saw no
infringement - much to the disgust of The Walks faithful.
Lynn put a lot of energy into the final minutes but rarely threatened and so
lost their 100% home record against The Ducks.
Lynn: Higgs, West, Smith, McMahon, Cooper, McNeil (Hammond), Defty, Anselin
(Fell), Camm, Bloomfield, O'Halloran. Unused sub: Heath-Preston, Jones. Att 759
4 November 2005
In the Errea Cup, Lynn have been drawn at home to Eastern Division high fliers Corby Town in a match scheduled to take place on 29 November. This will be the twelfth time the clubs have been drawn against each other in the competition - although the last meeting was back in the 1994-95 season when Lynn won a two legged tie 6-1 on aggregate.
Being allowed to leave The Walks are Aaron Benstead and Paul Kelly as part of measures introduced to control finances.
Early cup exits - and being drawn away in both competition - have not helped while league gates are slightly down (5%) on the average for the whole of last season.
(The average league gate to the end of October 2004 was 861 compared to this season's 790 a drop of around 8%).
James Bunn remains with the club for the time being but is unpaid.
1 November 2005
Lynn Reserves have been dawn at home to Cambridge City Reserves or Ely City in the Second Round of the Ridgeons' League Cup. They can take some comfort in that they have not been drawn against Wisbech Town (they were knocked out by Newmarket) who easily demolished Lynn 4-0 on Wednesday evening - in front of the Reserves biggest crowd of the season, 211.
The 2nd Round League Cup match will take place on Wednesday 7 December.
Lynn Youth went down 3-1 at Deeping Rangers.
In the Second Round of the Ridgeons Youth League Cup, Lynn have been drawn away to Grantham. The match to be played
15 November.
29 October 2005
Salisbury City 1 King's Lynn 0
At 74th minute Matt Tubbs penalty saw Lynn go down in a game of two halves.
Lynn had the better of the first half chances with the the wind at their backs. Jack Defty
dominated in
midfield and Matt O'Halloran shooting just wide on the 10th and 13th minutes.
Danny Bloomfield's back header on 27 minutes also went close whilst Higgs did
well with saves from Tubbs in the 8th and 40 minute.
If Lynn had the better of the first half dominance it was the home side who
bossed the second half. One penalty appeal was turned down but on 74 minutes
Tubbs fell over under the challenge of West and took the resultant penalty -
giving Higgs no chance.

Lynn Reserves 0 Woodbridge 1
Lynn Reserves largest gate of the season was greeted with a disappointing
performance. The single goal came on 18 minutes from close in - Paul Berry
scoring after the ball had been crossed in from the Lynn right.
Lynn's chances were few. Lee Hyde had an effort tipped over on 13 minutes and
Troy Bond should have done better when he saw his effort charged down on 28
minutes.
Lynn's only other effort of note was a78th minute Lee Hyde going
just wide. Other Lynn attempts on goal were few and when they did arrive were straight at
the keeper. For Woodbridge Francis was just wide on 9 minutes and Dearsley headed
just over two minutes before the break. McNally did well on two occasions -
bravely claiming the ball at the feet Ben Goddard.

Lynn took the lead with the first attack of note in the 15th minute. Troy Bond scoring after Robbie Harris had set him up.
Harris did the scoring some seven minutes later - Lee Hyde put the ball over the top and Harris ran on to score.
Lee Gilman, however, pulled a goal back for The Yachtsmen within a minute, turning in Gavin Lemmon's cross. Lemmon was then on target eight minutes later with a curling left foot shot from outside the area. John Edridge then hit the bar for the visitors but on 40 minutes Adrian Coote headed home at the back post from Justin Fox's cross.
After a relatively quiet opening to the second half, Charlie Defty
levelled the scores on the hour mark, driving home from 12 yards and then Luke Fell restored Lynn's lead five minutes later. On 72 minutes Defty then headed into his own net under pressure from Adrian Coote. Wroxham had chances to win the game with Lemmon and ex-Linnet Mario Davids shooting over to send the match into extra time.
Three minutes into extra time and Luke Fell scored his second of the evening and the ninth goal of the night. Troy Bond and Robbie Harris completed the scoring for Lynn in a remarkable game. Att: 144

Lynn 4 Team Bath 2
If there was a self destruct button at The Walks then both teams had a turn at pressing it.
Fortunately for Lynn it was the visitors who went into self destruct mode from the start - conceding a number of fouls in the opening minutes, culminating with Steve Cook being
booked in the 6th minute.
Soon afterwards Lynn took the lead with Danny Bloomfield, whose pace had been a
threat from the start, firing home his ninth goal of the season from close range.
Team Bath tried to respond immediately with Marc Canham shooting narrowly wide.
Bloomfield was denied by the 'keeper's legs on the quarter hour mark but two
minutes later, with Bloomfield through on goal, Nick Hudson was adjudged to have
pulled him down and received a straight red. Jack Defty missed an open goal from
the edge of the area on 20 minutes.
Despite their inferior numbers, Team Bath, who were generally poor throughout, did apply pressure around the half hour
mark with Higgs saving well from a Canham free kick and then again from a
corner.
Lynn doubled their lead on 35 minutes - Adam Smith crossing for Matt O'Halloran
to volley home the goal of the match.
Sam McMahon then shot wide just before the end of the first half as Lynn
continued well on top.
Despite going into a 4-0 second half lead, Lynn never really dominated but had
what chances that were available with O'Halloran hitting the upright shortly
after the restart. Both
goals came from Jack Defty, a header from a fine ball from West on 58 minutes
and the a fine finish some twenty minutes later.
When Team Bath pulled a goal back with some five minutes remaining through
substitute Reid it looked
like a consolation but then James Bunn needlessly felled Kes Metitiri and was
shown a straight red card. Team Bath then added a second goal - again from Reid
whose weak
shot appeared to take a bobble over the arm of John Higgs.

A goal on 76 minutes removed Lynn from the FA trophy at the first hurdle. After giving a good account of themselves in the first half and had the ball in the net courtesy of a Steve Butler own goal on 20 minutes but it was ruled offside.
The home side dominated the second half, however, and just when it looked as if Lynn might hold on for a replay Howard headed home from a corner.

Lynn Reserves 4 Newmarket Town 1
Lynn got off to a flying start with a Robbie Harris goal on two minutes,
scoring at the second attempt after a superb flowing move from Lynn's defence.
The visitors, however, looked stronger than the side Lynn defeated 4-0 at the
end of last season and began to get the better of possession after the opening
30 minutes which has seen play switching from end to end. The Jockeys hit
the bar on 38 minutes and three minutes later Jon Olive got a deserved equaliser.
Lynn started the second half in determined mood and Mark Heath-Preston restored
Lynn's lead on 54 minutes - heading home after the bounce had deceived the
visitor's defence. Newmarket could not find a way back this time - their best chance
being straight at Duncan McNally. On 72 minutes a fierce low cross from the Lynn right struck a defender and flew into the net. Two minutes from time Lynn
completed the scoring - a shot from outside the area from Mark Heath-Preston which gave the visiting
keeper no chance.

King's Lynn 2 Evesham United 1
With Lynn's 5-0 win on Tuesday and their visitors in 17th place in the league
and without two suspended players the result might have been a foregone
conclusion - but with Lynn nothing is easy to predict.
A goallless first half saw the visitors start and finish strongly. In fact
Evesham had the ball in the net just before half time through Clarke but the
effort was ruled off side. For Lynn Matt O'Halloran was the inspiration
behind many of their better moves but the visitors were no pushovers and far too
many balls crossed the Lynn goal mouth just waiting for a final touch.
McMahon had Lynn's best effort in the first period from some 25 yards forcing
keeper Adey to save at his near post. Lynn lost Jack Defty through injury after
an clash with the visiting keeper to give James Bunn his home debut.
Lynn took the lead on 49 minutes through Sam McMahon from some 15 yards after
Bloomfield's effort had been blocked.
Evesham equalised on 71 minutes when Ball was given too much space and allowed
to place his shot wide of Higgs to make it 1-1.
However, after 82 minutes, Lynn went in front again when leading scorer Danny
Bloomfield slotted past Adey for his eighth goal of the season.
A superb reflex save from Adey prevented Lynn extending their lead and then five
minutes from the end, United's substitute Pinkney was red carded for felling
O'Halloran on the touchline.

First half goals by Troy Bond and Ed Cussons and a 71 minute strike by Mark

A Matthew Peters goal on 70 minutes gave Lynn a share of the points on a rain soaked Walks but it wasn't enough to take them to the top of the league - although they will habe that chance on Saturday when they travel to leaders AFC Sudbury.
Histon had taken the lead just after the hour after a goal less first half. Robbie Harris and Tom White both had chances to give Lynn victory but it wasn't to be.

Hitchin Town 0 Lynn 5
Lynn's topsy-turvey season continued with a 5-0 win against Hitchin on Tuesday night - Danny Bloomfield giving Lynn the lead on 14 minutes.
Jack Defty doubled Lynn's lead on 53 minutes and Bloomfield got his second 11 minutes later.
Matt O'Halloran then got in on the act ten minutes from time and "new boy" James Bunn completed the scoring from the penalty spot five minutes from time.

Bedford Town 3 King's Lynn 2
The Eagles removal from the FA Cup has resulted in an attempt to trim the budget with defenders James Taylor and Ryan Frater being released by the club, while midfielder Julian Capone also left after failing to agree a deal.
Lynn's new signing James Bunn was given a place on the starting line-up as Lynn
had Martin McNeil and Jack Defty declared fit.
With The Eagles having new-look defence it was Lynn who were first to settle - Cedric
Anselin taking advantage of a poor clearance from Childs to give Lynn a 3 minute
lead. On 20 minutes Lynn went two up when Jack Defty set up Danny Bloomfield
down the right and, although looking offside, he ran through to score. Dillon
pulled a goal back for the home team on 37 minutes. Just before half time
Bloomfield missed a chance to put Lynn and then Lynn lost Mark Camm with a groin
injury - Paul Kelly taking his place.
Lynn continued to dominate with Sam McMahon going close and then Cedric Anselin
having a effort which nearly squirmed under the home keeper's body.
Chris Dillon 70 minutes then got a goal from almost nothing on 70 minutes
and completed his hat trick with a goal 4 minutes from time.
Anselin was shown a straight red card for something he said and Danny Bloomfield
was booked in what wasn't Lynn's day.

Lynn Reserves 2 Needham Market 1
With first team call-ups and injuries Lynn Reserves task against
Needham's 100% record always looked to be difficult and when ex-Linnet Matty
Clements gave the visitors the lead on three minutes - scoring after an earlier
shot had been blocked - it look like it wasn't to be Lynn's day. For the next 15
minutes Lynn began to establish themselves and had the better of the
possession even though they never really tested the Needham 'keeper.
The visitors then began to come back into the game with Aaron Benstead making a good save from Needham's Kevin Barker who minutes later headed narrowly wide. Matty Clements hit the bar on 40 minutes
as the visitors looked to increase their lead.
Mark Heath-Preston produced Lynn's best effort on goal three minutes into the
second half - shooting narrowly wide and five minutes later Lee Hyde put Lynn
level. His header looping just inside the post from a free kick. On 67 minutes
Lynn took the lead. Mark Heath-Preston worked his way to the goal line on the
left of the area and was upended and Tom White blasted home the resultant spot
kick.
The visitors pressed but Lynn got men behind the ball and desperate
defending plus another good save by Benstead preserved Lynn's lead. Clements had
a goal disallowed for offside - following up after Benstead had turned an effort
onto the bar as Lynn held on to go one point behind leaders AFC Sudbury and end
Needham's 100% record.

Former Bishop's Stortford and Enfield Town striker James Bunn has become the latest
signing for Tommy Taylor. Bunn was with Grant Cooper at Bishop's Stortford and scored nine goals in the 2003-04 season from 24 starts.
The former England Schoolboy International started his career with Tottenham Hotspur
but an ankle injury resulted in him joining Enfield. His other clubs include East Thurrock United, Boreham Wood, and Potters Bar Town.

Terry Back, assisting manager Tommy Taylor, has suggested a raid on his former club for a possible striker.
Back was appointed assistant manager at Northwood during the summer to "Woods" boss Mick Harvey.
After a disappointing start to the season Harvey stepped down and the club appointed Colin Payne to the hot seat whilst Back has begun helping Tommy Taylor with advice on clubs and players and some 'keeper coaching.
One player he was quick to recommend is 19-year-old forward Peter Dean who arrived
at Chestnut Avenue, Northwood during last season after having played for Hayes in the
Nationwide South. Peter previously played at
Maidenhead United, having earlier been a youth player at Watford, and now is a
member of the British Universities squad.
Another striker linked to Lynn is Ali Chabaan. The Lebanese international features a number of clubs in his c.v. including Leatherhead, Tooting & Mitcham, Farnborough (under Tommy Taylor), Dorking and also trials with AFC Wimbledon and Exeter.

Lynn 4 Tiverton Town 1
Lynn managed their first win in five attempts against Tivvy thanks to a second half goal blitz.
There was just one change in the home starting line-up from the FA Cup defeat last week with Paul Kelly making way for Cedric Anselin.
Visiting keeper Mark Ovendale was equal to anything Lynn could throw at him in the first half and when Lynn lost Jack Defty to injury it began to look as if Lynn would struggle to find the goal yet again.
The second half began in much the same fashion as the first with Lynn applying the pressure and Tiverton looking dangerous on the break.
Lynn made the breakthrough on 62 minutes when substitute Robbie Harris was on hand to collect a rebound after Lynn had applied pressure.
Sam McMahon curled a fine shot from 25 yards to put Lynn two up with ten minutes remaining but the visitors immediately fought back with Yetton getting the goal of the game from some 30 yards.
Matt O'Halloran provided Danny Bloomfield to put Lynn 3-1 up two minutes later and then was on hand to finish the scoring in the final minute - heading home McMahon's free-kick

Banbury United 2 King's Lynn 1
The Lynn line-up showed just one change from last Saturday - Kelly coming in for
Whittaker who started on the bench.
A dull opening made difficult by the heavy rain saw few chances.
Banbury stepped up a gear round the half hour mark with Higgs going to full
length to push an effort round the post and then Mark Camm saving a shot from
Stanbridge with Higgs beaten.
Banbury took the lead on 44 minutes when Paul Lamb shot home.
Lynn came out in the second half looking to create more chances and a free kick
from Smith went just over before another free kick, minutes later, came out to
Adam Jones on 53 minutes who blasted home from 25 yards.
The scores were not level for long, however, and on the hour a scramble in the
Lynn goal was not cleared and Baird followed up to get the decisive
touch. Lynn introduced their substitutes and pressed forward, leaving themselves
vulnerable at the back but the chances were never converted into goals.

Lynn Reserves 2 Cambridge City Reserves 2
Cambridge City belied their league position and gave Lynn a difficult test. The
visitors shaded the first half - their strength making it seem that Lynn wee
having to put in twice as much effort just to keep with them.
Lynn had their chances with Robbie Harris lobbing wide in the early stages
and Lee Hyde and Mark Heath Preston both going close. It was, however, City who
took the lead on 13 minutes through Simpson - the corner reaching him at the far
post and he forced the ball home.
Lynn dominated the second half but the goal remained illusive until the 72
minute when a deflection off a City defender found Mark Heath-Preston in space
with just the keeper to beat - and he made no mistake. Five minutes later Lynn
were in front - an Ed Cussons free kick somehow squirmed under the keepers body
when he looked to have it covered.
City, however, had the final word when pressure which saw a shot which hit
the upright and then ricocheted around the box before falling to Simpson to
score his second of the day in the final minute.

Wroxham 0 Lynn Reserves 3
The pace of Robbie Harris was The Yachtsmen's undoing as Lynn gained revenge for the defeat at The Walks and adds further interest to the third meeting of the teams when Wroxham visit The Walks in the League Cup next month.
In an even first half Lynn took the lead on 36 minutes when Robbie Harris took the ball and ran some 30 yards before feeding Mark Heath-Preston to finish. Eight minutes into the second half and Lynn were two up - although there were probably three Lynn players looking suspiciously offside at the time. Once again it was a long ball over a square defence and Harris ran on in space to lob the keeper. Ten minutes later there was a third - Harris had a shot blocked by the keeper, the rebound fell to Heath-Preston whose shot was blocked by a defender and the ball went to Luke Fell who shot home from outside the area.
Wroxham played some good passing football but rarely troubled McNally in the Lynn goal - their shots going mostly off target.

Cheshunt 0 King's Lynn 1
Lynn gave a debut to new signing 6 foot seven inch Dean Whittaker at the expense of Cedric Anselin. Whittaker was signed from Bedford Town after "impressing in the warm-up" when Bedford visited The Walks !
The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges although the home side slowly
came more into the game - but it was Lynn who got the only goal.
Prior to the 40th minute opener Grant Cooper had hit the upright for Lynn but then it was Dean Whittaker, moving away from goal, who was impeded by a home
defender and somewhat fortuitously Lynn were awarded a penalty which Danny
Bloomfield duly dispatched.
The home side came more into the game in the second half but, apart from a goalmouth scramble in the final minutes, were restricted to dead ball situations and Jon Higgs was rarely
called into action in the Lynn goal. Lynn had what looked like a more obvious
penalty appeal turned down in the second half but held out to be deserved winners
despite losing Bloomfield to injury.

Lynn Reserves 1 Norwich United 0
It was apparent from early on that there was only likely to be one winner in
this game - the biggest surprise that it took some 75 minutes before Lynn scored
it.
Lynn dominated the first half but Luke Fell was the only player to have a shot
saved on 26 minutes. Prior to that Robbie Harris had two efforts - one high and
the other wide and Fell had shot over.
The second half was much the same - Ashley Keegan headed over and a minute later
Mark Heath Preston had a looping header come back off the bar.
A powerful shot from the edge of the area by Heath-Preston on 68 minutes went
just over and it looked as if it wasn't to be Lynn's day.
Then a Route 1 job from Duncan McNally found Robbie Harris in space who went
through to score. The visitor's were seldom seen as a threat - the best effort
being a a header straight into the hands of McNally.
