TITLE-WINNING Dorchester boss Mark Morris has tipped the Linnets for promotion next season.
Lynn did their best to put a dampener on Dorchesterís title bid, but a 38th minute free-kick from Magpies top scorer Justin Keeler was all the home side needed to pip Eastbourne Borough for the championship.
It also meant Lynn finished sixth in the table, with 98 league goals.
League top scorers Dorchester wanted to turn on the style in front of a bumper 1,259 crowd at the Avenue Stadium, but the robust Linnets had other ideas with a committed performance that prevented the champions from hitting any rhythm.
They won few friends in the home crowd and picked up five bookings but Dorchester boss Morris did not disguise his admiration for the visitors.
"They are a decent side and if they keep that squad together they must be favourites to follow us up next season," he commented.
The home side had shouts for a penalty when emergency striker Jamie Brown was felled by Linnets skipper Glen Fuff, but referee Edmonds from Tidworth decided the foul was just outside the area.
Hot-shot Keeler drove a low free kick through a gap in The Walks outfitís defensive wall and into Steve Wilsonís bottom corner for his 26th goal of the season.
Dorchester, robbed of prolific scorers Matt Groves and Matt Hann through injury, had an early score ruled out for a push on Wilson and Dave Staff went closest to scoring for Lynn in the first half with a shot that just missed the angle of the upright.
However, the best chance fell to Chris Bacon as the Linnets looked to hit straight back after Keelerís strike.
Unmarked eight yards out, he put his volley over the top.
Wilsonís foot denied Martin Shepherd in a one-on-one in the second half and when the keeper could only. parry Keelerís cross shot, Glen Fuff stepped in to clear off the line,
As home fans whistled for full time the visitors almost spoiled their promotion party when Fuff rose to meet sub Paul Raynorís stoppage time free-kick and powered a header just over.
