A GLORIOUS first half display by the Linnets saw them annihilate Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose ground on Saturday.
Macclesfield, previously unbeaten this season and sitting at the top of the Northern Premier League table before this match, scarcely knew what hit them.
The match started very sedately with neither side creating any clear cut chances in the opening twenty minutes.
In the opening stages there was no hint of the Linnets burst that was to follow and in the first minute goalkeeper Andy Claxton was called on to save a shot from Keelan.
Nolan Keeley was forced to concede a corner to stop Long from getting in and Richard Johnston did well to cut out a dangerous cross from Marsden.
An eighth-minute shot from Keeley was comfortably save by Brown in the Macclesfield goal.
Then the Linnets took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored three goals in a dramatic 15-minute spell.
A through ball from Nolan Keeley was mis-handled by keeper Brown and Andy Higgins was on hand to score :a simple goal from close range. This came after 24 minutes.
An own goal was conceded by Seddon three minutes later when he diverted a low cross by Ray Elliott into the corner of the net with the accuracy that a forward would have been proud of.
Macclesfield were shell-shocked and were lucky not to slip further behind as Higgins missed an easy chance to get his second goal and Nolan Keeley chipped a twenty-yarder narrowly wide.
It was almost inevitable that Lynn would score again and sure enough they went three goals up when
Elliott fired home a rasping drive in the 39th minute following a corner.
Macclesfield fluffed their only chance to get back into the game when Long shot tamely at an open goal on the stroke of hair time and Marty
Wiles was able to clear off the line.
Any lingering hopes Macclesfield had of saving the game vanished three minutes into the second half when Keith
Rudd waltzed through a statuesque defence to score a fabulous solo goal.
The match as a contest was over and Lynn just sat back and enjoyed their first victory against Macclesfield in five meetings.
Lynn did not manage another serious shot - but neither did Macclesfield.
