LACKLUSTRE Lynn booked a quarter-final tie at Atherstone on Monday week after struggling past Rothwell thanks to a last-minute penalty from Adie Hayes.
Hayes kept his nerve to tuck away his fifth spot-kick of the season as the Linnets came from behind to win for the second successive home match.
It was Lynnís lower-league opponents who looked more like the Premier Division side t in the first 45 minutes.
The Bones showed more invention and enthusiasm than a ragged Lynn outfit and were unlucky not to take a
slender advantage going into the break.
Visiting strikers Danny Geary and Grant Mawby saw efforts whistle past Steve Wilsonís post early on, while a timely tackle from Dave Robinson denied Ossie Mintis a shooting chance on goal when well placed in the box.
Defender Glen Fuff, who was once again outstanding, and the pace of
Matty Clements were the only bright spots for Lynn, who failed to register a single shot on target during a dire first-half display.
Five minutes after the break Rothwell took the lead when Tom Mills slid home Adam Sturgessí cross from the right.
In the 55th minute Wayne Anderson fed Clements with a fine through-ball and the onloan striker made no mistake for his second goal in two games with an emphatic finish just inside the box.
Nine minutes later, Simon Dakinís cross was chested down by Clements into the path of Hayes, whose fierce volley was superbly turned over the bar by visiting keeper John Hughes.
Just as extra-time loomed, substitute Jamie Clarks was tripped in the box by ex-Linnet Andy Bullimore, and Hayes converted from the spot to send a relieved Lynn through.
