Lynn 1 Norwich City 2

Whatever disappointments Lynn had given supporters in recent weeks, were compensated for at the Walks on Monday evening, when, before a crowd of over 5,500 (sic), the team put up a fine performance against a Norwich City team including ten of the players who figured in their fantastic F.A. Cup run.
The City's visit was a goodwill one, to repay the visit of Lynn to Carrow Road a couple of seasons ago when the City were in financial straits. But there were no punches pulled on the field of play. In fact in the first half Lynn gave their visitors something to think about and it is to Lynn's credit that only some very doubtful tackling at times halted their progress to goal.
Though it was about eight minutes before Kennon touched the ball, Lynn's first half showing was such that Norwich had a number of anxious moments. Indeed there were occasions when probably, with a little more steadiness, Lynn might have scored several more goals. Certainly they carved the opportunities.
Perhaps the most interesting feature from the Lynn point of view was the showing of the attack which has been criticised in recent matches. Neilson did well at inside right, but Dixon, in particular, had quite a good match against Butler and several times won duels for possession.
He showed fire throughout the first half and was more accurate with his shooting than of late. Kennon could only watch as a header from the Lynn leader landed on top of the bar.
Kennon was caught out of position when Baxter cut in after beating Ashman, but unfortunately he could not get the ball across to Dixon unmarked near the penalty spot.

The Lynn supporters were roused when DIXON opened the scoring on 17 minutes. Picking up a loose ball in the penalty area, he neatly side-stepped Kennon as the goalkeeper advanced and ran on with the ball to shoot it into the net from a yard out.
Later, Kennon had to be quick to tip over a fierce drive, then Hunter missed a great chance by shooting wide after Kennon had punched away from Vickers' head.
At the other end Lay raced back to dispossess Bly but gave away a corner which resulted in City's first goal. It was the 34th minute and from Crossan's head-high corner kick BLY headed in.
Lynn were less impressive in the second half. Allcock came into the City side at inside right in place of Rayner, and immediately he set to work with Crossan to launch some dangerous raids in which the City winger showed an amazing turn of speed.
Even so, J Wheatley, who had another fine game, and Lay, stuck to their task magnificently, yet they were unable to prevent CROSSAN scoring a fine second goal for Norwich in the 50th minute, the ball rocketing in the net following an Allcock-inspired move.
From then on, although Lynn fought keenly, City held the upper hand, and there was a remarkable escape for Lynn when Bly missed from a yard out as Manning stumbled into the back of the net from knocking out a deceiving lob by Hill.
The game remained very interesting, and then with heavy clouds bringing premature darkness, the referee called the game off after 81 minutes.

Lynn: Manning Pemberton, Lay; Tennant, Henderson, J Wheatley; Baxter, Neilson, Dixon, Vickers, Hunter.
Norwich: Kennon; Dowe, Ashman; McCrohan, Butler, Crowe; Crossan, Rayner (Allcock), Bly, Hill, Brennan
