You could argue that someone who was on trial, never played a competitive game or signed a contract is not actually an ex-Linnet??

Fair comment but a missed opportunity. Setch obviously saw his potential when we didn't.

Glad the young man is progressing and still scoring. Yes we had a chance to have him now apparently lost Who was the manager when he trialed think it was the bungling Hughes is it his fault ? Was there no thought  or conversation re offer of a trainee contract to let him develop under our wings our was he just shown the door. None of us will probably ever know unless FT tells. It's part and parcel of football that a player slips the net then develops into an outstanding player . I can think of one who played at the walks for the opposition and is still scoring in the Premiership and recently England.

Watched the highlights of a recent game can't say he impressed me, yes he scored but didn't look like he would cope at level 2 without a lot of help

Glad someone else said it. Watched him for Heacham & Downham. Yes he scores goals but needs a better all round game to make it at NLN (or higher level).....but hope I'm proved wrong and he has a good full time football career.

You may well prove to be correct in your assessment of Fletcher's all round ability? However the fact that natural goal scorers at every level are 'gold dust', added to which he has scored regularly as he has progressed up the pyramid: this season 30 so far at step 4 for the first time, is it not possible that at the age of 21 with the right coaching that he might progress further?

Rod, as I said on my post I hope I'm proved wrong. I hope he makes it in full time football, and better coaching and being around better players will help.

After watching him where do you think he needs to improve?

Paul, i am not qualified to comment specifically on where he can improve his game. Though logically given he is still only 21 and has risen to every challenge thus far, i would imagine that as Fletcher continues to gain experience that should translate positively into his all round game, provided that he has the capacity and hunger to improve? I think at present he is in the right place, continuing to benefit from Setch's coaching and playing experience. One other element is confidence: Corby have boosted that and having secured a play off place, he could be playing at step 3 next season. The only real blip in his career to date followed his 'trial' with us which dented his self confidence but perhaps also strengthened his resolve to prove KLTFC wrong. Time will tell.

Long reply to say you've never seen him play!

Jake Watts scored 41 for Fakenham this season (more than Toll ever got at that level)....maybe we should sign him as well.

Perhaps you should add 'psychic' to your Forum nom de plume.
