Title: FA Cup
Post by: rod on November 03, 2024, 12:44:41 PM
Some excellent non league performances: not least Tamworth and Kettering. i thought it somewhat ironic though that the standout player for Kettering, who scored the equaliser and assisted the winning goal, was a 19 year old locally born academy graduate.

Personally thought the Tamworth game was dross... debatable winner on a dubious artificial pitch (too many teams adopting that surface and playing lump ball).

Credit to Kettering....seem to have changed their style and quite pleasant on the eye and felt they deserved their win

Curzon who beat us got whopped 4-0 at home to Mansfield today.   The FA Cup was always all about  shocks for me.  Ronnie Radford for Hereford v Newcastle stays long in the memory

The most memorable fa cup game for me was being taken to Brighton in the sixties for a game full of goals!  Brighton 10 Wisbech 1  ( Graham Lawrence scoring for Wisbech if my memory serves me correctly.)

Kings Lynn 3 Aldershot 1 when they were in the league, think it was in the late 50's. Made national paper headlines. Great atmosphere stood behind the goal Tennyson Ave end.
