I will be very surprised if this match goes ahead. No change to the weather is forecast.
The side overshadowed by the main stand must be a concern
According to Greg Plummer on the Chinese (we'll steal all your personal Data) Social Media platfrom, the pitch is like Concrete this morning.
:dontknow:
Are the covers not in use ?
Apparently the game is still on tomorrow.
:dontknow:
Think we have been here before.

Are the covers not in use ?
Under the old club I remember helping to clear snow off the pitch which was piled up on top of the covers. It wasn't an easy job and required a lot of manpower and a sense of humour helped.
In the notorious "dead" area in front of the stand there was a big sigh when the covers were taken off and we saw lumps of ice all across that side of the pitch.
So the next job was trying to dig pieces out of it without doing too much damage to the grass. The groundskeeper, as you can imagine, was not a happy bunny to say the least and kept running to different "diggers" to tell them that they were wrong and to stop while he explained how they should be doing it.
I found a large piece of ice as big as a (small) football which would not play nicely. I had an idea... and don't try this at home children... I filled the kettle and boiled the water and whilst the groundskeeper was looking the other way... I poured it onto the big ice lump...
Unfortunately I'd been spotted and the poor bloke came charging over and yelling at me for "killing" his grass.
For some reason he had a complete meltdown (pardon the pun). When he stopped for breath I confronted him and asked him if he'd rather have a small patch of dead grass and explain to the management why we couldn't play..or we could just play the ******* match.
I won the argument and, somehow, we were able to play that day. Ah, them were't days.
A rather long winded way of illustrating that even if we had covers, it wouldn't necessarily stop ice forming in front of the stand.
Anyone seen the kettle...
I remember years back when Clubs trying to get an FA cup tie on they would place oil drums all over the pitch fill them with rubbish and set them a light. :laughcry: Usually a lower League Club playing one of the big boys.

Come on Joe, get the under soil heating installed asap!
:scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
AL has just said on Radio Norfolk that it's highly unlikely the game will go ahead tomorrow.
If the Manager can publicly say that, why can't the Club make a decision and get it announced to the Supporters and the Opposition? :dontknow:
Only 4 games left on in the NLN. All other games already called off in the North League. For now. Makes sense to get an early call to stop opposition team s and fans from travelling.
According to Oxford city, game has already been called off!

Thanks for the info.
Lynn have now announced the game is off.
Rather frustrating to have the information from Oxford before we could get our xxxx together 😾
As much as I appreciate the improvement of some news, rather than none, it still makes us look pretty amateurish. Buck stops with Cleeve or whoever the latest puppet master is, to get the news to the media guy/gal.
With social media being "instant" these days, the back of house needs to get with it.
Many clubs at this level or below seem to have things sorted for match days and get entertainment revenue from social events to bolster the funds.
What the management doesn't seem to get is that they can't keep coming to supporters for more money for this or that. They need to grab some cash from outside the club as well. But I won't hold my breath on that one...🙄

Previously, the Club didn't have anyone with the ability to do this successfully.
With Bal now on board, a man with a proven track record, they now have someone with the ability to do this.
:scarf:
Cleeve takes a lot of stick for all that is wrong at the Club. Now with Bal onboard as the front of house for Jo then maybe people should be asking him for some of the answers.

Lynn announced it at the exact same time as Oxford?
Information concerning game went out at same time on both clubs twitter accounts.

The game being off must hit the club very hard with the loss of the money.i hope the club has got it covered as not a lot coming in this month without todays game being off.On the good side it probably means one less lump in the mattress to worry about
Exactly the reason other revenue streams need to be in place, so as not to be so reliant on match day income.
It's not rocket science and should have been the first thing put in place, and not come as an after thought.

Afterthought seems to be the norm rather than the exception. Reactive rather than proactive?
Now we have the safety net of Jo ( Bal) we don't have to worry so much about cash flow issues. Do we ?
Rather surprisingly, Rushall did us a massive favour yesterday by defeating Scunthorpe. That's got to go down as a massive bonus to us.
Shame Buxton and Chester didn't share the points, but guess a Chester win was very slightly better than a Buxton win :dontknow:
One thing of concern, when you take into account how tight it is at the top is goal difference, with Lynn having the worst of the top 8 play-off contenders.
Having said that, it's nothing that a few wins by a two or three goal margin wouldn't sort out.
Who is Bal(Jo), and are people able to contact him? I have long thought that the reason our finances never take off is that we only ever attempt to raise money "in club" or ground on match days.

Not exactly correct.
I think its fair to say there have been "attempts".
OMG haven't there just !! Where to begin. From day one SC has told us all about his lastest money making ideas to both raise the profile of the Club and to make it self sufficient. The only one that appears to have worked is getting Jo onboard. I think the best suggestion was the summer concert gigs that were going to held at the ground with the suggested idea of AC/DC playing a warm up gig on their way to a World tour.
Anyone else can think back to anything better ? :mystic:
I see on the former players page Joe Taylor has signed a long contract with Huddersfield Town, please tell me we arranged a sell on fee? Or will we get nothing?

I would guess you contact him via the club.
If it's by email, I'm sure you would get a reply.

Sorry if I'm going to show my ignorance, but are "Jo" and "Bal" the same person. People seem to be using the two names interchangeably, hence my confusion 😏

Different people.
Joe's the money man, Bal is his representative (apparently).
Thanks for the Bal/Jo distinction. If Jo is the money man, and Bal is his representative, is there anyone working on money-making projects at the ground/elsewhere, or organising raffles, etc? If so is he or she contactable?

As I'm sure you have realised, what goes on at the Walks stays at the Walks. That's unless a Club official thinks he should share certain things with his mates. i.e. "Don't tell anyone else this but........".
I think it's fair to say that some have noticed a few subtle changes since Bal appeared on the scene and made it his job to go among the supporters and press some flesh. He was certainly showing an interest in a number of things, and gauging supporters opinions on a range of issues, which has got to be a plus.
As far as a raffle is concerned, I don't believe they have anyone that can do it and apparently the last attempt was not very successful. If they have run one in the last couple of years, I've not seen anything about it.
On that note, the Trusts Christmas raffle was deemed to be a success. Maybe the Club should engage with the Supporters that run it and pick up a few ideas.
:scarf:
Re-arranged for Tuesday 18 February 2025.
With reference to the raffle, I am sure there are loads of fundraising activities which could be put forward by the Trust and other supporters if there was enough interest among the supporter base in helping to organise them.
Dilly was only seeing if anyone is operating such a thing as a raffle, or any other money-raising initiative. It's not a raffle that the question is about. I'm "asking for a friend" who might have an interesting proposition, but he needs to know if there is anyone to contact....

Sorry, when you asked if anyone was organising raffles, I thought you meant "is anyone organising raffles"?
:laughcry:
Who to contact?
All the people involved with running the club are named on the Clubs website.

With the exception of Joe and Bal ??
Good one, B & G... Fair dos! A bit like Bob Newhart's sketch "The Driving Instructor"....... "No, I'm sorry, it's my fault. You put your left arm out, and your left indicator on, and I, well er, I more or less assumed you were going left"!....
