Title: National League North v National League South
Post by: pcater on September 14, 2025, 03:32:01 PM
Kings Lynn playing Chesham yesterday got me thinking about the strength of North and South National League.
Having thrashed Chesham - mid-table away 4-1 yesterday got me thinking is the North a much stronger division than South??

Could we go in South and win that Division?
Certainly less ex-league clubs in that Division!

Also since 2020 from National League - most of the sides promoted up are Northern teams.
Only Bromley, Wrexham and Sutton out of the 10 promoted sides would be classified as South??

Wrexham? South?   It's in North Wales, about as Southern as Chester.

In that case, is Kings Lynn really  a little Northern Town?  :dontknow:

The great North - South divide.  Where is the divining line?  As far as Step 2 Football it  moves around quite a bit.  This year we have Oxford City and Bedford Town. Last year we had Needham Market as NLN clubs

It should be where the pronunciation of the word "bath" changes.

If it's pronounced as if there's an "r" in it - as in "Barth" then it's Southern.

When it's pronounced as if there isn't an "r" in it, then it's The North  :laughcry:

As logical as any reason we've heard over the years, so why not? 🤔

In Lynn we of course talk proper but just 10 miles or so into Lincolnshire they speak 'northern'. Clearly the FA are unaware of this and keep putting us in the North division. Let down again by the authorities. :scarf: :yellow card:
