Title: Website sponsor and GDF Update
Post by: Blue and Gold Trust on August 22, 2019, 06:59:05 PM
Website Sponsorship
The Blue & Gold Supporters’ Trust would like to express their grateful thanks to the Blackfriars Barbershop for agreeing to sponsor this website for the next 12 months.
We wish their business well and sincerely hope that they see benefit from advertising on this website.

Ground Development Fund (GF) – Update
The Trust has received communication from Stephen Cleeve expressing his appreciation for our fundraising efforts towards the GDF.  He further informed us that he has ordered the additional turnstiles required to meet the new ground grading standards.
He also attached an invoice for the required deposit.
You will be aware that it was agreed that any funds raised in the GDF (£4,052 at the time of writing) would be used towards the purchase of these turnstiles.
To that end, The Trust has forwarded a cheque for £4,052 to Stadium Solutions who will manufacture the turnstile units.
This sum covers the required deposit less the VAT.

And who is going to man any new turnstiles? Seems to be a shortage of help on a match day at the moment, club shop not being open and last week the tea hatch was closed? Are we losing volunteers? :dontknow:

Would the lack of volunteers be due to volunteers allegedly being asked to pay to get in and help? :dontknow:

I was told yesterday by some Lynn fans standing near me that quit a few people saw the cue and said that it was too long and left. ok its their loss, but also the clubs loss. Something needs to be done to get fans in quicker.

Turnstiles are not the problem, neither is the time people arrive.
The problem is, quite obviously, the stupid ticketing system.
It doesn't work!!!

Compared to how many turnstiles with the old club, and no queues then like now?

So let’s assume there is 3 windows and 700 fans to sell tickets to from say 2.30-3.00.  That’s excluding those bought online and those who like to get in early( Volunteers and watching BT Sport etc). That would work out each ticket taking around 7 seconds.  Not gonna happen.  Stephen has said he is gearing the club up for the future, including bigger gates etc.   So this is one area that needs some serious address.

I managed to get to my first game yesterday, due to previous work commitments.
At half time I popped down to look at the revamped clubroom and, as others have stated, it is a vast improvement so well done to those responsible.
However I would like to make an observation. The queue to the ticket office wasn't the only queue of the afternoon. The queue for half time drinks stretched to the door. There were only two staff serving so goodness knows how many punters didn't get to part with their cash before the second half started.
Suggestions
 1. There are not enough bar staff ( although I have seen an advert on-line for staff so perhaps this is being addressed ).
And 2. The servery is not big enough. There are not enough beer taps and not enough room for the extra staff, when recruited, to work effectively.
The old Blue and Gold Club bars used to take either side of £1500 on a matchday, and that was 10 years ago so imagine what might be possible now.
