Title: A few thoughts from the York game.
Post by: Mallard on January 19, 2020, 10:43:33 AM
1.  Fantastic crowd of over 4,000.  The 3rd biggest in Non League Football.

2.  Car parking, rumours are that cars were being towed away from Tennyson Ave and parking tickets being handed out like confetti.   I seem to remember for the Oldham game the Club hired the parking at St James School. Surely if we had done this and also the same at the Hospital it would have got a few hundred cars out of the equation.  At a fiver a pop the club should have had some up sell there on the game.    Missed a trick there Mark.  Something that might need thinking about for the future.

3.  During York’s warm up balls were being loaded into Tennyson Road and cars being struck.  Would it make sense for some kind of high fence netting to be installed to prevent this ?

4. Toilets. There were long queues for the these on the main stand side, with males using the females and disabled facilities, and of course they were in a disgusting state.

Just a few things we can improve on, going forward.

For the Oldham game the club also came to an agreement with the College to use their parking facility.

I think it’s a good idea to have something arranged with local car parks close to the ground. Only issue I can see us coming across with this, is they will need to be manned carparks with security/stewards. Which were short of the ground anyway.
The way I think they could over come this, would be for the division in between home and away fans to be slightly bigger, and a taller fence between, this would then free up a couple of the stewards to then man the car parks.

Then regards to the improvements, hopefully with Mark (Hearle) coming to the fort now, he can bring in some extra revenue to be able to put some of these plans into action. Plus as many would see yesterday there was a net division between home and and away, and it looked to be by half time this had been either ripped down or taken down!!

Amazing to see 4000+ fans at King's Lynn yesterday, not only was it the highest attendance in the league, it is also the highest attendance in the league so far for the season. Not even York have passed 4000 for a league game this season. 😀

Think for this it depends on planning permission, because it’s an increased height and it depends on birds etc.

That should’ve been a sign we was going to win if their balls kept  ending up over there  :scarf:
Save money for netting just put a sign up saying park at your own risk York warming up  :laughcry:

It wasn’t the parked cars, it was the slow moving traffic down Tennyson Ave that were the sitting ducks.  I guess any damage to the cars would come out of the Clubs public liability insurance.
