Away from the FA Cup draw, we are in action at the weekend down on the south coast against fellow promoted Weymouth.
Seems to be debate around the keeper spot, personally I would stick with Mair as I think the problems over the past two games have been mainly down to those in front of him and the quality of the opposition we have faced. Would love to see IC revert back to something more akin to what got us to the NL and look to play the ball through midfield so for me:
Mair
Jones, Smith, McAuley, Brown
Clunan, Jarvis, Richards
Carey, Kelly
Marriott
Subs: Barrows, Barker, King, Southwell, Power

I just think it is sad at how easy a loyal and trusted GK in Alex Street has been dumped to the wayside. By IC and by some supporters.... :dontknow: :dontknow:
-
Thought it was a squad game.

Certainly not been dumped by me, and from what I've seen (poor defense in front of him or not), I'm yet to be convinced that Mair has proven that he offers anything more than Pedro can offer.
Good young keeper, and I do understand that its early days yet.
-
Totally agree b&g
And yup GS you're right it's a squad game, totally agree, let's hope norwich city are as amenable when it comes to their young GKs turn to sit out on the bench.... :dontknow:
-
Would prefer to always see a 2nd keeper on the bench. So hopefully which ever keeper starts the other will get a spot on the bench.

I don't see it as 'dumping' Street, just a case of selecting a team in the knowledge that it will always be harsh when you have two keepers who both have their positives and negatives and you can only pick one. For me, I would like to see Mair given a run against a range of opposition to see how he goes as I don't think he has done too much wrong so far, certainly justified retaining his place more than some who will be picked for Saturday.
-
Can see both sides here, am surprised at ped dropped but then did IC see it tactically using muirs height against the likes of Rhead and co , we needed 2 keepers last season as I think peds had a lot of pressure all season and injury to add and some games he’d have a flappy 10 mins if he made a mistake.. still my No1 though ... In IC I trust :scarf:

My team for Saturday would be
Pedro
Jones Barrows McAuley Brown
Power Jarvis Richards Carey
Marriot. Southwell

Same thing happened when Danny Gay came here. Glad he left, possibly under a cloud, as he was supposedly a bad influence in the Changing Room.

I thought that was Trevor Saunders. Perhaps it was both of them :dontknow:

So our team beat the team who beat Wrexham away. That makes us capable of doing well in this league. I maintain that we need one/possibly two slippery nipsters, but, until then we’ll be OK if we play on the ground to create chances.
Dilly’s team for Weymouth.... Street; Jones McAuley,Smith,Brown; Barrows/Clunan; Richards,Carey,King/Kelly,Power; Southwell/Marriott. Subs: Mair, Barrows/Clunan, King/Kelly, Southwell/Marriott, Loza. Choices depending on fitness. Weymouth have Very well-appointed ground. .....And a real pity about the Notts County tie being behind closed doors, and the big crowds I believe we would be getting. In many games.
-
Not much wrong with Mr Hill's team:
Pedro
Jones Barrows McAuley Brown
Power Jarvis Richards Carey
Marriot. Southwell
Like Malcolm, I would have Pedro back between the sticks and bring Ross Barrows in to replace Chris Smith. Resting Michael Clunan for Notts C game seems a good idea.
On my Subs Bench I would have Archie Mair, Ryan Hawkins, Sam Kelly, Jamar Loza, Tai Fleming. The 3 players I could see coming off would be Adam Marriott, Ryan Jarvis and Aaron Jones.

Goodness, what a poor run of 3 games !
These games against teams that have come up are games Lynn have to get something from if they are to stay in this league......what an appalling last 10/15 minutes......miss a pen, get sent off for indiscipline, give a handball and the game away and then have 3 more booked...dear oh dear oh dear.. ...
-
Someone said on feed last week...let's hope culverhouse is up for a fight....cos it sure looks like hes gonna need to be :dontknow:

WLM wasn’t Loza suspended for today ?
It seems the honeymoon period is well And truly over. Another pen given away. I think we all have the faith that IC will shuffle, add, takeaway and find away for us to compete in this League. Not necessarily with the big boys but certainly more than hold our own with the middle clubs downwards. So far we have needed to score a min of 3 goals in every game to win it. IC being a classy defender will, I’m sure be disappointed at the goals shipped and has to look at the back 5/6 very closely.
I don’t think we have an issue with either of the keepers. Are the two lads at the back good enough/Strong enough for this level. The 2 fullbacks great at bombing on, but what about the muck and nettles side of the game, question marks there.
You don’t lose games with clean sheets. Maybe it’s back to basics and start there.
-
Where is Tai Fleming? Supposedly a Defender.
Chris Smith hardly put a foot wrong today. Pleasantly surprised. Our defence was not really tested but silly handball and loss of control by McAuley cost us the game.

Wish I had your confidence!!...going to be a long, long Winter and a huge struggle to keep our heads above water (bottom three positions). At least one new CB and another striker are needed and IF those changes are going to happen, then they need to happen quickly before all confidence is lost.
-
It's just not good enough at this level....just not professional enough all over the pitch........and I think it is a real eye opener for some of the squad which is why it is taking a while to adjust. However, Lynn can't afford much longer for people to catch up. I wonder if either of the centre halves are currently good enough for this level, in terms of strength, speed, discipline and nous.
I think this performance will hurt IC the most..... it's one thing to be outclassed by seasoned pros, but when you come up against a side weaker than you, who are yet to score this season and have only one point from 4 games and you have the better of the match, the chance to kill it off and take 3 points and you end up throwing it away with indiscipline and poor defensive work.....well that is something else.
-
Agree with WLM - Smith had a good game. We looked a better side than Weymouth. Football throws up bad patches where a team can miss a penalty, then give one away. I’m still sure we can hold our own in this league. McAuley was decent until he hit his own bad patch. King looked good, but had no attacking midfielders with him, so that meant nothing for Southwell and Marriott to use consistently. It’ll come though, as long as no one starts falling out ! Weymouth looked ordinary, and Maidenhead are certainly showing how well we did there ! Chins Up !!

Who, on Twitter, decides which four players should be put forward for the MoM vote - I thought it was Clunan but he even wasn't short listed
-
Was really pleased with the way we was playing , Even when behind I felt we had enough to draw or win the game but Rory Rory Rory why ? We was on top looking good defensive and attack and then red mist I know it’s passion etc but our discipline could cost us like today clunan booking pointless ( didn’t learn after guiseley) same as Richards both having good games . On wards upwards but the bus home could of been so different :scarf:
-
We lost again, but we still love Lynn. We will learn, develop and improve as the season goes on.
-
Not sure why the Weymouth keeper had to act up before spot kick and why the steward had to stand behind goal. Must of been off putting to Marriott. When Weymouth took their pen steward stood well out of way

Was there a post match interview done from yesterday ? Normally it’s up by now.

When Bev Asher did last weeks interview, wasn't something said about BT's requirement for post match interviews?
Is there a news black out from the Club at the moment? I've not seen anything posted since Marks rather cryptic post at 2.30 yesterday. :dontknow:

Was that a cryptic comment from Mark Hearle ? I just assumed he had quit or got rid of.

He could have meant he had just finished his dinner!

Mark Hearle comment was "I'm done 😔" . Wonder why the sad face :dontknow:

Au contraire: if one were to place one's cursor on the said emoji it shows as pensive, although that may not have been deliberate.
-
Well gone or not I think we have big issues to deal with right now. Like how to get the team back on track and moving up the table.
I’m sure IC and SC have it in hand.
-
Even though it's not first team....ressies won...but doesn't say alot for GK backup when the academy manager has to pick himself to play in goal.... :dontknow:

Trevor Saunders. That's going back a few years Nemesis, Alan Day was the manager I think?
-
Wasn't he banned from the ground at one point, which was a bit awkward when one day he turned up as part of the opposition's team.

Fear not peeps, knowing Mr Hearle like I do, I’m thinking the “I’m done” tweet would be in relation to a said Jordan Henderson disallowed goal in the Mersyside Derby on Saturday as Mark is a big Liverpool fan.

Nothing wrong with it...dont believe I said there was.
It was just that I thought we had an up and running youth/academy system. U18s U19s and of course U21s (reserves).... and there wasnt another GK available??.....how many GKs are there amongst those 3 teams?... :dontknow:
