Seriously?

Can that be classed as a permitted reason to leave your home during the lockdown?   :dontknow:

Presumably all the volunteers will provide names, contact addresses, sign in on the Test and Trace App, scan the club's QR code and most importantly agree to the Elite Sport protocol of two Covid tests a week for the duration of lockdown, with the tests presumably being arranged by the club !

This is where the government's messaging keeps falling down......we have the highest Covid rates so far and the rhetoric advises people to stay at home, but the published law is still no more than tier 4 restrictions, so loads of people can still go out to work and carry on as normal, some of whom can also  claim extra financial support (a bit like the football clubs)...... it's farcical.

Like you say KES...the whole things a farce.
Complete lockdown...unless: you're obviously a key worker or your'e a teacher or you're of school age or you work in a shop that sells food or work in a factory or drive a bus a taxi or you're a professional football player or just simply have lots of money....where you can spin the public a yarn and fly off to exotic places on "business" trips.....so....other than that complete lockdown... :dontknow: :dontknow:

I've worked B&G all the way through this with over 200 people...where social distancing is impossible...common sense is lacking as well as understanding right from the very top...I am pretty sure my experience is not an isolated one :dontknow:

Add to that the following that are allowed to be open :
Dentists, Estate Agents, anyone whose work involves repairs...be it to cars or buildings, Construction workers, garden centres, any professional working on a painful condition or mental health eg chiropractors, physios, chiropodists, acupuncturists, reflexologists, osteopaths, counsellors, etc, all banks and building societies etc etc

Unless there is a total lockdown don't think people will take it serious. I have always taken it serious but when you see estate agents being put in the category as nessesary it just make it all a joke.

With 68,000 infections and 1300 odd deaths today restrictions will need to be stepped up

Agree about estate agents (and associated businesses). Also no need for garden centres and places like Poundland, the range etc to be open. Im sure they can cope for a couple of months.

Personally feel the likes of banks, dentists and garages (for repairs) are essential

The crux of it tis that people are comparing it to the Lockdown in March last, but rather than go back to those rules, weve reverted to the rules we had just before that Lockdown ended. Theyd spent months being gradually eased as cases dropped, prior to the switch to tiers. But weve now got more cases, more deaths and busier hospitals, but havent gone whole hog. The rhetoric is of full lockdown, the rules are not.

 :banghead;  :oldman"  :farmer: What about the FARMERS, sadly forgotten about, they kept us supplied with food for our tables, when many were at home, as I say sadly forgotten about now, but when we need our harvest collecting again, they will be there again working long hours to feed us, but sadly receiving little praise.  :farmer:  :oldman" :banghead;

Sadly, so many people think that the business they are involved with should be the ones that remain open.
Even my accountant is still working, and I could really do without him for a while.

A couple of years would be good!  😊

They might as well continue to rob you during a pandemic as they do normally.

All the regulars on here are spot on about the feebleness of the lockdown.  Apart from those who have to, and especially those who are trying to keep people alive, we have to realise there are fools out there who are endangering the rest of us.  Im so impressed with the discussion that Im making the next three Dillyselections  free of charge.  Stay safe, everyone.....
