Title: Eastleigh away
Post by: Mallard on September 02, 2021, 03:23:41 PM
Defo a winnable game this one.  Think we won their last season.

What line up will we go with ?  I fancy a 2-0 away win.

Thoughts ?

Hopefully, this will be a better test, like for like in team strength. Southend, Chesterfield , not really like for like in my opinion. They are really EFL teams in every respect. If we can beat teams like Eastleigh, Boreham Wood,Dover,Bromley etc,   then this will a better indication as to where we are as a team.

So, three games in and we have played one playoff certainty, one likely mid-table side and one who are probably going to be well into the bottom half so three points is probably what we have hoped to return.  Eastleigh haven't started well so a good time to go there and if we can play with the same confidence as Monday and with Rowley & Linton likely to give us a bit more going forward we should be looking to pick up at least a point.  I thought Bowry played well on Monday so probably keeps his spot in the starting lineup so only real decision will be whether McGavin replaces Clunan, personally I would stick with Clunan as he will have better options available in front of him than Monday.
                  Jones
      McFadden, Bowry, Bird
Barrows, Coleman, Clunan, Denton
                Rowley
          Linton, Gold

subs - Fernadez, McGavin, Jones, Sundire, Gyasi

I look forward to the possibles of Gyasi,, Rowley, Linton,  and Morias putting some of the better teams under a lot of pressure.  For today, the Dilly team is …..
Jones:   Barrows, McFadden, Bird, Denton::   Coleman, Clunan, Rowley, Sundire:   Linton, Gyasi……
Subs:  Bowry, Jones, Mcgaviin, Gold, Fernandez.  A win today should set up a decent season for all, as long as we are diligent about steering clear of Covid, with the numbers again building up.  And really, obviously that is the most important thing….

What injury has Gold suffered ?   We are having no luck with strikers in the opening few games.    Junior sent off and suspended. Linton recalled for a Papa John’s fixture for his parent Club and now Gold injured after just 20 odd minutes.

Ok admit it, who has been walking under ladders ?

An ok point today, but a chance of 3 missed. Eastleigh are in no form at all and that was their first point. Wins are a vital commodity this season.....we will need 3 points every two games. Looks like Linton (if not recalled ) and Junior up front for Daggers match.

The young lad Taylor seems to be scoring lots of goals for Wroxham.

Just the 4 today in a 4-0 win.

He is a Dilly type player.  A quick Nipster and slippery.  He certainly has a yard on him.

Scoring freely at that level, so could do with a chance to test himself a couple of steps higher before too long.

In fairness Wroxham are on fire this season and playing some decent stuff.  Don’t think Holt or the King of Spain have had much game time.    Wroxham certainly look full of goals.

There’s a big difference between the leagues he is playing in but buy all means give the lad a chance

Massive difference Malc.  However the lad is doing everything expected of him and more.   So worth the fans keeping an eye on him. And even paying a visit to watch him when Lynn fixtures allow.

Wasn't Sonny Carey playing same level when he came to us.

It's a big step up, but when you are scoring goals you are full of confidence. A striker full of confidence is worth the gamble. Not going to give them the chance when confidence is high, when are you going to?

The lad does work extremely hard.  As they say the harder you work the luckier you get.

If he keeps up this type of form then it won’t go unnoticed.

:oldman" :farmer: Not going unnoticed, being raised here by the fans and I am sure Mr Culverhouse and Bastock are keeping a close eye. Just a side note is young Taylor training full time with the rest of the squad ? . :farmer: :oldman"

If you are good enough you are old enough!
Had a great chat with the Wroxham secretary when Heacham played their reserves a couple of weeks ago. Wroxham hope that he is not recalled i can assure you.

Is there a v in September ?

In fairness after the  match before, interviews were posted quickly and we were quick to acknowledge and praise....... for Eastleigh things have been a little less timely all round.
