Tommy must be the caring sort.   Looking after his friends and family first.  Then who was it who rubber stamped those who have joined ?

Agreed Loopy. Reminds me in a way of John Gidman, who had all the charm, banter and one liners and look how that ended!!

Not to mention his own room to change in when he played  :Sherlock:

As a matter of interest what was Simon Clarkís record as Manager at the Club ?   I recall he was sacked after drawing with lower League opposition in a Cup tie. Hmmmmm

We've got no Backie and Fryatt to fall back on this time. They won the replay very easily if memory serves me well.

Don't think they had any problems finding us a certain striker either.

Did it end? I seem to recall an ongoing dispute for some time afterwards Gidman claiming he was sacked and Dollimore claiming he resigned. Gidman adamant he was still owed thousands by Lynn. Never a dull moment with those two involved.

The cup game was at home to Histon, we got a last minute equaliser. We won the replay at Histon 8-0, it was 6-0 at half time.

It doesnít have to be an old-fashioned Number 9.  Two regular scoring midfielders may be better.  But, yes, itís obvious we need people who can score.  Such a simple game.  Managers get blinkered by cliches ( ď character, strength, etc).  A couple of decent attacking midfielders who can score goals, please !!

Man City seem to do ok without an old fashioned number 9?

Who needs a striker when you have all that quality going forward and never let the opposition have the ball for very long ?

At the moment I really wouldn't be surprised if the Chairman was looking to reduce outgoings, not increase them by signing a really good striker (no point in signing an average one).

I understand the potential short and long term effects of not bringing a striker in, and I'm sure he will be more aware than most. It must be a very difficult decision for him, but really not helped when there's so much talk and very little action (at least action we can see or have been informed of).

There's for and against spending more money at the moment. Without a striker I think most will agree we are doomed and will lose our NL status. With signing a striker and the increase in costs it brings, if it doesn't work out it could be the the thing that just pushes us over the brink (and then we could lose more than just our NL status).

Very, very difficult and as always, time will tell.

The Chairman said in one of his podcasts ( whatever happened to those ?) that there was plethora of ex League players floating about out there who would come for £400 a week.  Now was that just wishful thinking on his part ?

Have we ever considered that the reason Tommy hasnít signed a striker is that he lacks the connections ?  So far he has brought in a left back ( Denton is now back fit), his boy from step 3 ( I bet no one saw that coming). Plus two coaches.

Sorry to say but it all feels a little underwhelming.  Next two games look very significant in the both the Clubs and Tommyís future.

Did TW do a pre or post match interview for the Tonbridge game ?

Do you think there's a chance he was the unseen force behind the Barrett signing?

... and also the Walker loan deal earlier in the year by the looks of it

based on the one game I have seen him play, Scott looks a reasonably signing but I have no idea why Walker is back at the Walks, of all the loanees we have had this season he has probably looked the least interested to be at the club, no doubt TW will blame the system he was playing in or the instructions he was under so look forward to seeing how much better he looks under TW.  That is now four signings in addition to some of the longer term injury returnees so at what point does TW start to trim that number?  Maybe we will see a change in formation that better suits the new personnel but have to seriously question whether the likes of Altintop, Iontton (still injured?), Sundire, Knowles or Charles will make a match day squad now

maybe 2 wages could been spent on a striker along with the extra coaches wages and managers son we could got Rooney out retirement
