General Discussion / Re: I heard a rumour..............
« on: September 30, 2017, 04:28:01 PM »
I have....   i stand by my word though.  The last reserve match i was at you could smell the burgers from outside the ground,  mate, i was dripping by the time i bit into it.....   I challenge any club to beat our burgers....  just fancy chips with mine, that's all.   Soaks up the beer better......

All down to personal taste, I don't like them, not cooked on the inside and charcoal on the outside.  :coffee:

Not cooked on the inside??? Always cooked on the inside. Don't tell me you're one of these "oh it's pink on the inside so it must be raw" uneducated people john? Do I have to get my chef hat on to explain it?........... I have had a couple of charcoaled ones before though, that comes by using fresh meat which doesn't have tons of grease in it like the normal burgers served at matches...... (and a bit of chef error) ;)

As opposed to the ex managers best mates and drinking buddies ;)

I agree, the chairman shouldnt and I highly doubt gives any monkeys about what's being put on social media. But there certainly are some sour grapes being eaten by the departed! Rightly or wrongly. Setch went at great lengths to point out that the team and club is full of snakes as he put it. But those who want to play for the badge are still here at the end of the day.

Well after having a look myself at all the tweets and Facebook posts by the ex manager and players, I've got to say I'm pretty pleased that mindset has been broken up and disbanded. Yes it's good to have a rapor with your players, but the all too frequent going out on the p*ss with certain players and fans will only end up causing problems both on and off the pitch. Namely with players who warrant a run out but are held back because they ain't one of the managers drinking buddies, and a split in fans because as soon as anything bad is said about the manager and his "lads" then personal insults seem to come into play. No harm in having a bit more professionalism from senior figures is there? It's just all childish as hell from ex employees of the club who I thought played for the badge.......but seems that was wrong.

"In another effort to help supporters with the costs of watching the Linnets, a membership will be available that entitles supporters to reduced price match tickets for category B league matches, club bar and shop discounts on match days and online".  I would like to now exactly how much of a discount this would likely to be if i buy a membership as i wont be attending the 15 "cat B" league matches otherwise. If we progress in the cups then i dont mind digging a bit deeper for those matches as thats understandable, but the bit about increasing prices for matches over christmas and new etc for "increased security"........nah doesnt sit well with this linnet. I was always expecting the increase to 12 which i dont have a problem with, its the potential 15 matches which are cause for concern, especially if i want to come with my wife and kids. And as others have said, still a distinct lack of off the pitch endeavours in regards to fund raising alternatives, especially not making full use of the "club house". I dont want to miss matches................but while everything else inflates in price, my wages dont so something will have to give throughout the season for me.

Never heard of "the enemy from within" loopy? I'm obviously not saying it as a matter of fact. But could ne one completely viable explanation. It's pretty obvious you can't be objective to the whole situation of the last couple of weeks and also pretty obvious where your loyalties lay, which of course is your prerogative.

How do we know or not if Danny's attitude and feeling towards the manor of which his dad left the club forced this decision. The lad won't of been happy with it and he is known to have a bit of an attitude problem at times so who knows if he was turning up to matches slagging the new manager and the chairman off to other players etc.........he is a youngster after all. Good luck to him though.

Absolutely player of the season cant and wont dispute that. But this is one of the pitfalls of non league football when the manager has close social ties with members of the squad (which isnt necessarily a bad thing)but in this case its with a huge majority of the squad which could cause a problem in the short term for the rest of the season. I suppose its down to what the players want going forward, the likes of stevo and quiggs are either done with going any higher or wouldnt be able to make that step up. Culverhouse is no idiot and has a high standing in the game and im sure he will talk to the players to see what individual goals players have. The likes of revan, warbs, Mcwilliams (although only on loan) and even Clunan have what i takes to play 2 or 3 steps higher given the right dedicated coaching. Im not saying setch was an inept coach for one second, far far from it, but he only played to a certain level and sometimes coaches hit a wall in what they can achieve and pass on to their players via training . Take Jack defty for instance, when lowestoft came in for him he went there and lost loads of weight and looked fitter than he ever did with us and you have ask the question why that was? Its a huge gamble the chairman is taking but obviously as sad as it is that setch has gone, i also look forward to the future. Just hope Pedro sticks around as he has the potential to play a lot higher than we are but i know the close ties him and setch have. UTL!!!  :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Sadly it looks like the chairman has been watching the romance of the non league teams in the f.a cup and now has illusions of grandeur for us by making this baffling decision at this time..........I won't stop going because of this though, that would just be silly. Football is a huge roller coaster, just gotta ride it ;)

The Dorchester manager stepped down after the game too. War was the game like?

The must be why he was having a blar on the pitch after the match then.

FOR GOD'S SAKE - WE KNOW NOTHING YET!   :banghead; :red card:

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

You are absolutely right Mike, but this certainly shows shades of last time you must admit, especially as it comes with rumours of a return to R&Ds.
All i will say is if its a case of finding the travelling difficult or similar then all he has to say to the club is just that, not potentially start pulling no shows again in order to try and get sacked. We have lost lots of good players in the past for various reasons, whether its because of travelling or work commitments, thats just the way life is and we can all accept those reasons and we say thank you and move on with no ill will or hard feelings. But if this is a case of trying to get sacked to force a move then hes a very silly boy considering he was welcomed back for the most part and has arguably been the player of the season so far playing as CB and proving he has what it takes to play at our current step.

He was still young enough to learn from his personal mistakes over the last couple of years which is why setch gave him the benefit of the doubt, and i will admit i was sceptical at first but there was no signs of this happening and has come out of no where so setch deserves no flack for this, this time.

I dont know what the future hold for Dan but hes at the age now where these indiscretions are going to be harder and harder to come back from.

Totally agree with the situation involving Dylan, it was all calming down between him and sonko before Mets got involved........Cannot for the life of me think why he needed to get involved the way he did, it just kicked everything else off. The other thing i will bring up is how on earth did their captain stay on the pitch in the first half after absolutely polaxing Toby off the ball, clobbered him straight in the gob in the process. Could see what their game plan was from the kick off.

I agree with jesus, apart from the grumbles about the soft drinks prices (from me also), there hasnt been much else negative said. Its far to early for people to start doing that. I will pay my ticket money, i might have something to eat............but i wont be buying hot or cold drinks from now on, im sure it wont matter to the club in the long run if they miss out on my extra 10+ per match

Nothing wrong with using a catering sized tin of nescafe. Those pre packaged coffee cups often taste like dishwater anyway. I don't get to the ground early enough to make use of the bar, instead when I bring my family we all have something to eat and a soft drink to go with it and probably extra drinks during the game which if we all have extra drinks could whack on an extra 10 a match! Some people may say "oh wow 10" but come on 1.50 for a can of drink??? I will think twice before bringing the whole family in future............or just stick to bar ordered tap water ;) ;) ;) ;)
