General Discussion / Re: Saturday at Heacham FC

Heacham FC are a club going a long way, after 4 promotions in 4 years, winning almost every game !
This Saturday they had a tough game v Golestone Res. but won 1 nil  with a late goal from that previous
Linnets legend JACK DEFTY ! Pop along and watch a club going places !

General Discussion / Archie Mair - goalkeeper
« on: June 27, 2020, 09:31:40 PM »
We now have some serious competition for the goalie position. Archie is nearly 2 metres ! - so plenty of height there !
On loan from Norwich City (previously with Aberdeen).

General Discussion / Play off dates ?

When will the play offs take place ? I hope York City get promoted. They have the crowd and a new ground.
I went to York City last autumn, and was impressed with their support.

Has the bubble burst. 2 recent losses indicates that we are now under pressure from the chasing pack. We need to inprove defensively. We have conceded far too many goals this season. Fortunately Mr Marriott has been banging them in for us. We need another regular goal scorer, should Adam get injured. Hopefully we can get some points on Saturday.

Great result. The ground was packed,  and Adam Marriot tucked it home again. Can we really go up ? Just believe and a miracle might happen !

General Discussion / Re: Trophy game at Ebbsfleet

There were more than 150 linnets fans at Ebbsfleet, and there mere more than the so called 680 total !
Often at a lot of non league grounds the crowd is understated. Even at the Walks. For example, how do they work out the attendance at the Walks. The tickets are not numbered !

We huffed and puffed today, but could not breakdown the Ebbsfleet defence. A good turnout by the diehard fans today, maybe 300 went. Hopefully we can turn it on next Saturday in the big 6 pointer v York.

With our injury problems, its a blessing that the game is off. It will give several key players a rest before the Boston game.

General Discussion / Re: Trophy Draw
« on: December 16, 2019, 01:58:30 PM »
A great draw, against my old team of the 1960s . I watched them in the 1950s, and was there when they had there biggest attendance v Sunderland in 1963 (12,000). I even played a few games for their reserve team in 1967 ish ! A long time ago, when you got 5 quid a game ! I shall be there with family to cheer on the linnets ! They were tremendous v Dover. The fighting team spirit is marvellous to watch. Do we dare dream of promotion  !!

Fantastic effort today, with 10 men in extra time. We showed that we can match an average team in the national league. Well done. Hope Michael Clunan is not to badly injured.

General Discussion / New Defender
« on: October 13, 2019, 07:25:11 PM »
With 2 centre halfs now injured, there was talk of signing an additional defender. Is there any news yet ? Unfortunate iinjury for Chris Smith leaces us short at the back. However I was impressed yesterday with Ross Burrows performing a sweeper roll. He did the same roll at York.

A good day out for the 300 linnets fans who made the long trip.
Not let in until 2.15. Poor facilitates  - the loos were like it was 50 years ago !
No bar and only basic expensive food etc.
As IC said after the game, we were up against a fulltime outfit. Onwards to the FA cup at Leek.
Good to see so many familiar linnets fans. COYL
