General Discussion / Re: Pitch/ bad weather
« on: February 03, 2019, 10:20:09 AM »
Being an ex senior referee let me state the facts: ( and one who has made numerous inspections at the walks)
A chairman or manager cannot call a game off it has to be an official unless itís so obvious like laying under 3 inches of snow.
The referee of the day would contact a local referee from their handbook of officials to ask them to take a look in the morning or ask their opinion with regard to the weather
The officials have to arrive at least 2 hours before kickoff and common sense tells me their first job would to have been to look at the pitch so they could have made a decision straight away, and they didnít, so as they didnít it must have been close.
So these are the facts, nothing to do with the chairman or anybody else concerned with the club, dear I say it, if the officials have to come a long way they still get their travelling expenses and half match fee, and it has been known!!!!!! You can make your own mind up on that one!

First away game last night for a few years and cannot believe it was the same team Iíve been watching at home, devoid of ideas correct the 2 fullbacks weíre out of their depth and too lightweight, I took a friend last night and he thought the teams should be in the opposite positions in the table, he said and I agree that they wanted it more and we kept pulling out of tackles the 50/50 balls, with regard to the dugouts the linesman bottled it as their manager took a swing at our player( no names) and it was his father who reacted and I would have probably done the same, he should be reported but wonít be as ref didnít even send him off, we are a better team than this and everyone has an off day, ( remember they beat Stourbridge and have 3 loanees in) we will still be in the playoffs and the new lad looks to be a good aqasition from the little time I saw

Totally agree topstanders mate, before start of season if anybody said we would be top at start of 2018 we would all taken that, we were in total control today, can only give credit to chairman and manager, chairman for giving the manager what he needs and manager for getting the right players and playing some great football, just looking forward so much to the rest of the season, onwards and upwards, come on you linnets

Think that Mr Cleeve is spot on with his comments, some people on here seem just to moan for moaning's sake, nothing constructive but just seem to have a dig with nearly every comment, opinions!!! if I had some opinions/moans like they did I certainly wouldn't be spending my money where I thought it was wrong/not being run correctly etc.  I'm not a regular contributor to the forum, only post when something gets me going, but I read it every day.  I'm a Lynn lad born and breed with a son who now plays for the youth team (so proud), (and was the sub linesman last season, least said) I've never been so optimistic and excited about Lynn football club as I am now, we all have a moan now and again (I was at Nuneaton) but to go on like some people do well it beggars belief, if I was Mr Cleeve I'd ban them, then they could really  moan about something and I'm sure he wouldn't miss their few quid either, it's only a few but they really hack me off with their constant negativity. Now I've got that off my chest just can't wait for the next game, it's like being a kid at xmas again. Well done Mr Cleeve and Culverhouse for making me feel this way again for football

Agree topstanders mate, rods really missing out, missing his input on a Saturday at the game, don't know what he's missing, loving the season so far the football we are playing is some of the best I've seen at the walks in years, and there seem a right buzz about the place, so come on rod, come back where you belong, we all miss your mail

General Discussion / Re: Youth game.
« on: August 13, 2017, 04:37:34 PM »
Went to Holbeach last wednesday to see my lad play his first game for the youth team as he has just moved up from the U'16s, and was charged £3 to get in there. Having not watch the youth team previously, asked the club secretary if paying was the norm, or was it make a few quid from the Lynn following.  He said they have to charge, not only to pay the match officials which can be as much as £100, but also bar staff and electricity for floodlighting so was quite happy with that. So why shouldn't Lynn charge to hopefully see the Lynn stars of the future (Kieron Shipp springs to mind).  You could always go and watch the U'16's at lynnsport, that's "Free"

Have known Danny since he was 12 as he's played with my lad junior level, well having said he played with my lad he came to 2 of his clubs but had a number of clubs because of his attitude and living off his dads reputation, was always was a disruptive influence, and have been told he didn't change when he came to Lynn, not a bad footballer but in my opinion not good enough for the reserves and only just held his own in the youth team, but am sure he will follow his dad wherever he goes. Whatever happens to our club we must looking forward, as several people have said on here the king has gone, long live the king!!

General Discussion / Re: In the bar

Was me in the corner as it was the only place that I could get a strong enough wifi signal, so wasn't being ignorant standing in the corner, the club probably give fans the passcode for their wifi but it would probably get crowded in the corner lol, if they want fans to spend money in the bar they need to get the TVs sorted (was told it was the friends of the linnets who paid for BT sport at a cost of about £1000 a year, so you think they would get it sorted as it was wasting money)

Thanks for your replies, but phoned the ground just to make sure and was told "yes we have BT sport and it can be on if I would like". Well arrived at the ground at 1230 straight to the bar to find no one there and no football on.  The chef looking after the outside BBQ came in and I asked him where everyone was, he didn't know and I explained my situation so he gave me a free beer until someone could be found. Some 15 minutes later mr Steven Cleeve came in introduce himself shook my hand and asked what the problem was (by this time I had missed the Burnley goal, no bad thing) I told him I had phoned earlier about the game and was told it was on, he seem to think they had cancelled BT sports, but when he saw I was less than please he tried his best to try and sort it out for me by taking me everywhere in the offices etc to see if we could get the club wifi for my phone to watch it, even tried to find his own tablet for me to watch. Eventually gave me the club wifi password so I could see second half on my phone (better than nothing I suppose and city won) I have learnt a lot today about my football club, I have not rantered and raved about mr cleeve like some have on this forum, just read with interest. I think his heart is in the right place but he must sort out the basics first, look after the fans, I won't be going to anymore pre match games in the bar and I can see why he is losing customers to the local pubs if my experience is anything to go by, and by just being behind the scenes for a short while today it looked chaotic, not very professionally run. I still reserve judgement about our new chairman, but please get the basics right to get the fans on your side, (this also refers to the fans waiting outside after kick off)
Both games ended in a win for me today, even thou the football was a little dire, but onwards and upwards

General Discussion / In the bar

Could someone please help me, do we have sky sports or BT sports showing in the bar before games, as Man City (being my second club,)  are on at 1230 I would like to watch them before the main event today, otherwise be watching at home, then a rush to get to the ground, and I don't want to queue and miss the start, as I've just found out that I can't print a match day ticket off the lynn website after 8 the night before !!!!!!

I really think some supporters should get out more, you go to any event, whether it be a football game, concert  etc and I defy anyone to find a drink less than £2, my second team plays in the premiership and to get a bottle of coke there is £4, a crap cup of coffee £2-50 etc, I personally don't get a drink while I'm there but it is what it is, you don't have to buy one, if it means the new chairman shoving an extra 50p on to help the club so be it, remember its going to OUR club.  This is my first post but have followed the forum for many years and laughed/enjoyed/winced at some of  the comments on here, but now felt it's time to comment, hopefully we all wants what is best for the club, so we should all be getting behind the new regimes and see how it turns out, I like most people on here moan about the team performances, the manager etc, thats human nature, one week it's sack the manger, the next he's the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm just so pleased to have a club to support, my club, to have my time on a saturday afternoon, so lets us all get behind our club/team and see how the season unfold on and off the pitch.

PS Backie you are doing a great job as a link man, keep it up
