General Discussion / Full Time - What do they do during the week??
« on: October 10, 2021, 12:08:31 AM »
This isn't a dig and the obvious answer is "train"!!

But, as I said in another post, I came away from The Walks today and felt totally deflated for the first time this season, in what we know, is going to be a difficult season

Other weeks, I thought we've played well, but just not converted our chances, but today, we didn't play well, we looked disjointed and take away the penalty shout for handball, really didn't look that good.

So, now we've gone full time, is it benefiting the players?? What do they achieve?? How much of a gamble is it?? what do they do through the week??

Because it isn't working on a Saturday (at home) whatever it is

Solihull were a decent mob, but we couldn't beat Barnet, we lost to a struggling Wealdstone, we lost to a struggling Southend, we need points on the board

Today is the first time this season I've left The Walks feeling deflated

Other weeks, we played well, but just couldn't convert our chances when we were on top.

Today, we huffed and puffed but created very little.

Yes Solihull are a decent team, but we just looked laboured today.

The handball/penalty incident today - I shouted as loud as everybody else that it was a penalty, but it will be interesting to see on the highlights if it was a deliberate handball in the area, or the ball was just smashed goalwards and it hit the players arm.

We can all blame the ref, but the lad I stood next to, we agreed on around 80 minutes that the ref had actually had a decent game.

We can't keep blaming officials for results - nobody can be "unlucky" for 40 games a season, same as nobody can be lucky all season - we need to take a look at ourselves.

I agree with the majority, we desperately need a striker who can score regularly - if Joe (or Joseph as the announcer called him) Taylor is the answer, then happy days.......if he isn't we need to act quickly.

Calls for IC to get the bullet are ludicrous, he's the best thing that has happened to Lynn in years and while nobody is untouchable, to give him the boot would be daft

Next Saturday vs Peterborough Sports, I think, is going to be horrible.......I'd take the ****tiest, scrappiest worst game of football ever 1-0 victory at this precise moment in time!!

My two penneth......

conceding in the first few minutes (again) giving us an uphill task straight away - it really must frustrate IC
The penalty soon as he started doing that daft run up, I knew he was going to miss
Ultimately points dropped against a direct rival (based on current league sytandings)

Aarron Jones and Coleman were good.
Clunan - and I'm not his biggest fan - was VERY good (surprised he got taken off)
The crowd was higher than the last league match.
We played pretty well on the whole.
They hit the bar in the dying seconds rather than score!!

More positives than negatives, looking forward to Saturday, but we do need to win at home sooner rather than later otherwise it will become a monkey on our back

Fans could relate with the Jarv’s, Gash’s etc it all felt right.   Now we are at step one then players came in from here there and everywhere.  No link up or connection with the fans.   Maybe we need to give the transition a bit longer to see if there will be a bond.

These are exactly the thoughts I'm thinking.

I'm not saying the current crop are a bunch of mercenaries, but there doesn't seem to be many who will "fight for the shirt"

Aaron Jones, when he came on yesterday acknowledged the crowd immediately and played with passion - and I didn't see that from any of the others.

I'm not saying the players play to lose, but I do question the effort to win??

As Mallard says, we loved players like Gash, Jarvis, McCauley, Fryatt, Hendo, Street - even Lee Stevenson & Dan Quigley because we felt they loved playing for the club and would always give their all.
The current crop may gel, but they have to understand they are in for a scrap this season.

I hope they have the desire for it

A trend is developing here - if you don't take your chances while you are on top, it will bite you in the a**e

Same against Dagenham, same today

Played some good stuff today, but all the possession in the world doesn't count for much if you don't convert the chances.

Junior Morias - just a poor mans Leon Mettam for me - he averages one goal in five appearances throughout his career, so he's due one soon (hopefully!!).......I'd love nothing more than to be wrong about him and for him to go on a goalscoring run and end up with 20+ goals this season - but can anyone se it happening??
Twice today (one offside) he failed to even hit the target from six yards out, he was moaning at his team mates too, I'm really not convinced with him

The crowd - 885 isn't great, but what was even worse was hearing Wealdstone's support and we didn't even muster one song all match - have the ultra's had enough?? They are our most vocal section of support, but didn't see any of them there today

Really frustrating today as Wealdstone were ****e.......and ****e with only ten men too, so we really needed a result

The actual match was frustrating as we played some good stuff, but the old cliche of not taking your chances (especially whilst on top) will come and bite you on the arse - and it did.

Still early days and a long way to go, but personally, I question the goalscoring of Morias & Omotayo

Morias is an average of 1 in 5
Omotayo averages 1 in 4 matches.

I know people have their own reasons for not attending - I couldn't do the Chesterfield match because of work - but it really looked like a poor attendance today.

It must have looked even worse on the telly

General Discussion / Re: Future games

For future games, one of my concerns is segregation - and I mean proper segregation.

As has been said, the Tennyson Road end should be all away fans only,

Saturday, there was an element of colourful characters from another Norfolk club (We can all guess who I mean) and there was a spot of bother just after half time.

We will get some (more) big away followings at The Walks this season and I fear things could get worse if said "colourful characters" continue to come to Lynn - because at the end of the day it will be the club itself which is fined / docked points.

Selling tickets on the day of the game isn't a bad idea to get more fans in, but those fans need to be in the correct area's of the ground - as we move up the leagues, gone are the days of moving to which goal we are attacking

No crowd trouble that I am aware off

Apart from half time where a good few of Norwich's hooligan element kicked off, were herded up and some escorted from the ground!!

General Discussion / Re: Clunan
« on: August 22, 2021, 12:24:14 AM »
Never mind this league, I personally thought he wasn't good enough for the previous league!!

I spoke to a former player regularly a few months back and asked about Clunan - I was informed that he is highly thought of in the (previous) dressing room, amongst the players as a "good rep" for the players and also helped "sort things out for the players"

I think he will be found wanting in this division - in my opinion Ethan Coleman and Joe Rowley already look better midfielders than Michael Clunan

Who has been a good servant to the club - but I always used to argue, if Clunan was that good, why haven't other clubs come in for him??

Who is your favourite player??

Not necessarily the best, or prolific, or skilful, just your favourite player and why??

For me - Rory McAuley

Never gives less than 100% ans commited to the core

General Discussion / Re: Guiseley
« on: March 15, 2020, 12:17:06 AM »
I've lost count in my years of watching football, where fans have bemoaned the referee for a bad result. was the worst refereeing performance I personally  have seen, either on TV or in the flesh.

He was clueless - his decisions caused bafflement amongst us Lynn fans and even the couple of Guiseley fans I spoke to (although it's easier to be "sympathetic" when you win!!)

However, Guiseley, like Bradford, done a job on us, they contained us, they were cute, they wasted time where they could, etc. etc.

As for Lynn, I bet Maz is sitting at home wondering how he hasn't got the match ball - not having a pop at the guy as he has been immense, but he seemed to snatch at a couple of his chances where as a few weeks ago he would easily have netted,

Our formation - started as a 3-5-2 (I think) but looked better as a 4-4-2 and with Gash and Power on the pitch.

MotM - Rory McCauley and I wouldn't argue with that, the guy is a warrior, a leader and even in the warm up when they were playing keep ball, was as ferocious as he is during a match, such is his desire to win.
His counterparts - Smith & Ward do not inspire me with the same confidence although personally I blame Pedro more than Ward for their goal.

Will the season finish?? Who know's, but if there is still football to be played we need to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later or the season will definitely be finished.

Radio Norfolk - nothing but respect for our chairman in his interview.

I hope Lynn win but I won't be at the match or any Lynn match in the future. During the last game, at home to Dover a comment was made to one of their substitutes from the crowd. The player looked at the crowd and someone shouted: " Hey, we've had Brexit now!" Many laughed; the player in question looked extremely uncomfortable. Needless to say, the Dover player was black. During the game another black Dover player was taunted continually throughout the game. No specific reference was made of an overtly racist nature but there was probably implicit racism in the taunts.
So, I've mulled this over for days and have decided - this is very difficult as I love supporting Lynn - not to attend any more games. I don't want to be in an environment where such attitudes are common.
So, I wish the team well and anyone who I've peed off on here, many apologies and happy Christmas!
 :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

It will be your loss Stan, not to "support" King's Lynn at matches.

I agree there is no place for racism in life (never mind football) but to say a Brexit comment has underlying tones of racism, is unproven.

I know I taunted one of their players (Pressley - who was black) during the break between full time and extra time, saying that Dover were shot, they couldn't win without cheating, their legs had gone........and he replied "shut the **** up baldy".

I responded that his insults were even worse than his football ability!!

"Banter" especially at this level happens and as long as nobody oversteps the mark, it's all good.

So, forget about it, come and support the linnets in what will be a 3-1 win (cos we're that good) with a crowd of 2214 - 2213 if you don't come!!

You would think by now The Dover Manager would be use to being interviewed and filmed
Is he on something or needing a wee? Didn't stop moving the whole interview and hardly looked at the camera.

Just watched this interview and my logic to him always moving around is because he isn't exactly telling the truth!!

Saying the pitch cut up - he'll do well to find many pitches better than ours.
Saying the fans calling his players cheats - I agree the ref was weak, but falling over as easily as they did, they were cheating

They underestimated Lynn and got exactly what they deserved
