General Discussion / Chorley at Christmas
December 21, 2025, 08:26:13 PM
Just be reading that Chorley are opening their club on Christmas Day for anyone who wants some company. A great gesture from a community club!

Looking forward to the next three home fixtures; Chester, Macclesfield and Peterborough Sports and continuation of the recent great form. Interesting to see that Oxford City are calling their next home game a "festive fixture" with Santa, face painting and reindeer trails. ( There's an idea for a community club). COYL!

Would have kept the ticket for the rearranged game which is likely to be on a Tuesday evening in December
but didn't fancy this prospect.

17.6mm of rain in Lynn today! The Scarborough match I believe was called off yesterday as the pitch was covered in snow.
Travelled from Hunstanton( rainfall here 12mm).
Paid my £20 warmed up with hot chocolate went to the stand, postponement announced, went to ticket office £20 refunded! came home! Good news;fine for Xmas lights switch on tomorrow.

The players looked very lively in the warm up and the first twenty minutes but then looked worn out. Is the intensity of full time energetic training too much for them;particularly the more " senior" players?

I know we have moved on since this game but the lowlights are available on re: Alfreton website. I am not clever enough to put the link on but found the Alfreton coaches half time and full time team talk entertaining. A wider use of adjectives would have been nice!

Yes it was an " uninspiring encounter.
". My third visit to Alfreton and pretty similar on my other two trip although this time once I was identified as a Lynn supporter I had to sit in the segregated part of the grandstand. I normally quite enjoy chatting to supporters from other towns.
There wasn't a lot of goalmouth action and am I right in thinking that the first opportunity Lynn had was the one that ended in a goal near the end.
I thought the ref had a decent game and wonder if James will agree in his interview.
Overall, I suppose a point away is reasonable but as one supporter said " I am glad it's only two hours home". Not too bad for a tenner!

I didn't go but the twittering thingy says Marriott X2
and Gyasi were the scorers. Difficult to gauge if the  new era team are any good or not yet but they don't seem to be winning to nil as they did tin the era of the tough Northerner.

A pleasant afternoon out and well worth the fiver. An energetic performance by the squad. Good to see the highlights in this season's first episode of " inside the nest". A good watch

Alfreton
Bedford
Buxton

at which point I got bored.
Three teams without illusions of grandeur!
Mr Cleeve was right to draw comparison with London Zoo prices. After all Eagles, Seals and Tigers will be coming to the Walks!
