General Discussion / Re: Away vs Weymouth (17th October)
« on: October 17, 2020, 05:34:36 PM »
It's just not good enough at this level....just not professional enough all over the pitch........and I think it is a real eye opener for some of the squad which is why it is taking a while to adjust. However, Lynn can't afford much longer for people to catch up. I wonder if either of the centre halves are currently good enough for this level, in terms of strength, speed, discipline and nous.
I think this performance will hurt IC the most..... it's one thing to be outclassed by seasoned pros, but when you come up against a side weaker than you, who are yet to score this season and have only one point from 4 games and you have the better of the match, the chance to kill it off and take 3 points and you end up throwing it away  with indiscipline and poor defensive work.....well that is something else.

Goodness, what a poor run of 3 games !
These games against teams that have come up are games Lynn have to get something from if they are to stay in this league......what an appalling last 10/15 minutes......miss a pen, get sent off for indiscipline, give a handball and the game away and then have 3 more booked...dear oh dear oh dear.. ...

I am sure they would.....but as far as I am aware they wouldn't get free admission to Cup games normally.
I am not sure the club is able to offer such handouts as it still hasn't had any government money and still doesn't know what it might get.
Maybe if the Gvnmt support money is decent then the club might be in a position to do something going forward....at the moment tho I would think it's still about survival

Yes hopefully, and if not one would expect a large take up on the stream.

Guess we will know pretty soon who is considered number 1 and who is understudy.

Thing is which keeper is most likely to be here long term and which one could be recalled during a season.
Which one is familiar with his defence ?
I just see it as a risky move effectively promoting Mair over Street.... and doing it so soon. I am sure Street wants to play every week.......if he ends up leaving mid season to do just that, we have a loanee in goal with Bazza as backup and if the loanee should get injured, recalled or called up by Scotland U21's then I guess Bazza is the man !

Yes, I would also go for Peds for Weymouth. The keepers have had 2 matches each and I feel things should now revert back to the senior keeper. This seems a good opportunity to stop the rot and get at least another point on the board.
Although Weymouth have just signed a big tall striker "to give more options", Lynn will hopefully have some ball this time around and will have chance to play a game more familiar to the squad. Familiarity could win the day, so I would go for Peds. It's also the last game before the FA cup, so a natural break after this one, so important to get something from Weymouth if possible.

Have to say IC seemed relatively calm in B A interview about the performance. Think it was wise to rest a few before Weymouth :laughcry:

Yep the person was impacted (affected) by the  event (being called Burrows which made him for example get angry and bang his fist on the table (the effect of the initial impact )

Wrong way round B &G
Affect is a verb, effect is a noun.
The person has been affected by an event...verb/doing word
The effect of his action was ........noun

Agree with much of that Tony.
I think King will prove his worth when he is fit, agree in part re Power.but I still think he will be a threat at this level......and if you were to write those two off, we only have a small number currently up to standard.
Lack of protection for the back line from midfield has been a concern before now...and currently is being really exposed.
Important we don't get caught betwixt and between with the system in place.......the team that got promoted is capable of being competitive at Weymouth......one in transition may or may not be.

Very surprised at Mair being given the call so soon. Pedro has been fantastic over a number of years and he and the defence are close knit and know each others game inside out. We didn't get over run against Yeovil and were in the game v Maidenhead but have been a league behind v albeit stronger opposition in S and B W........and by stronger I mean pacier AND physically stronger (Hi Dilly).

Mair seems a real talent, but it will take time to gel with the back 4 and therefore not ideal coming into a new league.
Must be really tough for Pedro...... can't see him staying as a permanent number 2. I had thought Mair might get his first runout in the FACup in a couple of weeks time...... nothing against him of course...

Looking through the side, either keeper, the full backs, Jarv provided used sparingly, Carey, King and Power (when both fully fit), Marriott and Southwell look ok at this level so far. Time yet for a few others to grow into it...........we can't realistically expect to be able to go toe to toe with the top sides straight away.....we are a part time side up against seasoned full timers....ideally we need a centre back with League 2/NL experience who has a good couple of years left in him, who has the fitness levels and experience to organise things..........
