It's good to see that they have survived albeit in a much slimmed down form. There is hope.

General Discussion / Re: Disappointment for the Linnets.« on: April 02, 2024, 09:42:02 AM »
A disappointing result after a very impressive unbeaten run since early January. This happens (ask West Ham) in football occasionally. Let's learn lessons (hopefully !) and move on to the next games to get the few points we need to be assured of surviving this season. Obviously in Summer there is going to be the need of some drastic changes of tactics and playing staff. My fingers are crossed that the right people make the right decisions.

Apparently there is a pitch inspection at 1215 today.

True, but Bradford have to forget that, as indeed, did I

As I write this, Bradford PA are winning well. If they see out the game they will be just 3 points away from Kettering who are in the last 'safe' spot. On Saturday Kettering play playoff chasing Kidderminster away. IF Bradford can beat Fylde they will be safe with a likely Kettering loss. Incentive for a win I hope (for us and Bradford).!!

Thanks for finding that. Indeed interesting reading. Most of the contributors are not over impressed with his arrival. As we all know, it's all about results so it will be interesting to see how things go.

A great win in the end. If this pattern of results continues it looks like there will be a 'yoyo' of position between Fylde and Lynn at the top. Whoever losses out has to go through the playoffs with all the risks we know. Perhaps more pronounced, but a similar situation in the National League between Wrexham and Notts County. Seems wrong to have only one guaranteed promotion when two sides are so closely matched.

I'm a bit of a weather nerd (this is what retirement does haha). There is still quite a lot of rain to come this evening according to the satellite but by the early hours it should become much drier. Whether there is enough time for the pitch to be playable is debateable.

As a football fan of 60 plus years I really enjoyed watching the woman's Euros. It will evolve as more money comes in, but at the moment there is a purity and love of the game which is sadly missing from the money dominated men's game. The men's game at the higher levels seems to me all about finances, about business and not at all about the joy of the beautiful game. Perhaps I am a silly old romantic but I think we can all remember witnessing moments of magic at a match. It stays with you for ever. For me the win on Sunday was one of those moments.

I've followed Lynn for nearly 60 years, but we do seem to have a small minority of so called supporters who badly let down the club. Like most, I enjoy the wit from the Lynn crowd but these people are scum to be quite honest. They disgust me.

General Discussion / Re: Down but not out.« on: May 01, 2022, 11:59:28 AM »
I watch a lot of the National League on BT. In the great majority of cases the stadium look bigger and better, the crowds larger and I expect the financial backing is , in most cases, much higher than us. We cannot compete with that. The power of money is so vast.
I look at Villarreal with a very similar population, with their crowds of 16500 and playing Liverpool in the Champions' League semi-final. We can but dream. Any millionaire Lynners about ? (Sorry not me, I live on a pension) 14

A definite improvement over the last few games which bodes well for next season. Obviously we don't know what will happen in the summer regarding finance and players but hopefully we can look forward to a much better 22/23 season.
