General Discussion / Downham play off game
« on: April 22, 2022, 09:44:11 AM »
If you can't make the away game at Dagenham tomorrow then Downham have a play-off semi final at home to Norwich CBS (3pm) - a chance for them to make it to Step 5 for first time in their history.

Had some Lynn Academy lads play for them this season, and one of the joint managers works for Lynn so I'm sure they'll appreciate any extra support.

Thatís fair enough Jamie. Any idea when his media ban ends ?  Is there no one else at the club now who can deal with such issues ?  I kind of thought with MH moving on you had been moved up the pecking order.

All I know is the chairman will have a column in Mondayís programme so I guess that answers that question.

I was temporarily moved up the pecking order (a shame it was leaked on here despite my request but there you go) however since then itís not possible to fully commit to the season so just doing what I can (mainly website stuff)

Jamie with everything at the club on the playing side seemingly being full time does it not merit someone handling the media side on the MO ?

I seem to recall a very detailed position being available  ( media duties included) and advertised at The Club maybe a month or so ago.   Where are we at with that ?

Good questions which I would suggest are best for the chairman to answer.

Iíve been involved for over 3 years now, so if any micro-managing was going to happen it would have by now.

Can only speak for myself but since Iíve been involved with the media team the chairman has had little to no involvement. Basically left alone to get on with it unless there has been an issue (which is understandable). Heís generally been happy with whatís been done and as said more or less given a free reign.

We know not everything isnít perfect, hence asking for more help. Iím sure weíll get there.

No website guy.

Not true

Thanks. I was referring to Josh who Malcolm said had left. I hadn't seen that he had been replaced.

As I said, not true. The website was designed and is run by a external company (with a few people able to post stories and update). Malcolm is wrong on this occasion.

It's just very strange isn't. If you were the Chairman you would def be wanting to maximise revenue from the off....so if you were going to change things internally , you would have new people in place by now, surely. So if we were to discount that, why would people leave just as such  a big season were about to start.

If some leave but continue contributing as before, could it be a case of, No "official title", so no responsibility or liability?   :dontknow:

Nothing sinister B&G. Iím taking a temporary break due to health reasons (which I donít need to go into on here & to be honest is nobodyís business but mine and who I chose to tell). Iíve agreed to carry on helping the club with website stuff at the moment as it can obviously be done from home.

Totally my decision and the club (especially Mr Cleeve) totally supportive.

Firstly, I never mentioned the word sinister.

Secondly, who mentioned you?

Iím not stupid. I know exactly what has been hinted at.

Hereís to the new season starting on Saturday!

All good to have in place, KES, but not money spinners.  And, to be honest, I donít think they should be priorities, apart from trained stewards, because most people who attend games at the moment live fairly close by - why not have a bite or a cuppa before they come ?  Beer wonít sell much, if people have to drive home.  I see you made a point or two on the ďthreadĒ today, so presume you watched the game.  Any impressions of the team or players ?

Re my points on the thread.... they were directed at the media dept.....for an NL club to manage one tweet after 20 mins to say the score was 2-0(when Stratford had already mentioned both goals...so old info), one tweet at half time and one at the end of the game, I guess was efficient 😁, but to me, very disappointing.....if I wasn't a Lynn fan, I'd be tempted to use the term tin pot.

I wouldnít usually respond, and shouldnít have to justify myself but my Dad has been in hospital and only recently discharged hence why I didnít go to Stratford. Iím sorry family takes precedence over a pre-season friendly. Iíll make sure it doesnít happen again, if he ends up in hospital I wonít bother seeing him.

Be nice if people thought thereís a reason why things donít happenÖ.guess that too much to ask.

My one & only comment on the subject. Hereís to a good season.
