General Discussion / Hereford "Fans"

A bit odd some of them, weren't they??

More intent on hitting fences and getting extremely irate rather than watch their team

General Discussion / Manager / Chairman Relationship
« on: January 05, 2018, 10:51:53 PM »
Not sure this has been covered elsewhere and I've not been able to post since last Monday.

But at Kettering I heard a couple of fans say that the relationship between Culverhouse and Cleave has broken down and they no longer speak to one another??

I heard another fan say they only communicate when discussing (arguing about) the pitch??

Now that Sam has gone, surely we need another defender at least, so if the above is true, how does Culverhouse approach Cleave??

I think the lad is worthy of his own thread.

I pray he is still with us at the end of the season, but if he is, I'll be amazed.

I've read reports where scouts from league clubs have been to watch him.

Gotta be the best right back outside of the football league??

General Discussion / Kings Lynn Sixth in the table........

.......Of the happiest places to live in Britain!!

Is this after the two signings on Monday??!!!

General Discussion / Today's attendance (Stratford)
« on: September 09, 2017, 11:59:25 PM »
Firstly, to point out, this isn't a whinge/discussion about prices

But I was curious to peoples thoughts as to why todays attendance could be down by almost 300 people from the last home league game.

In the meantime from the last league home game we've had an emphatic win in the cup, yet today only 659 turn up.

General Discussion / Culverhouse Not Happy With The Crowd....
« on: August 26, 2017, 11:07:46 PM »
Driving home after the match, listening to Radio Norfolk and they had an interview with Culverhouse who stated he wasn't happy with the crowd.

He said that he believes in playing the game in a certain way and won't pander to the crowd urging the ball be lumped into the box.

Now, the football we are playing is a joy to watch. I'm really enjoying it.

Frome came with a game plan of stifling our football and pretty much parking the bus - I think many teams will do the same this season when they come to The Walks.

But, and it is only a minor criticism, Ian Culverhouse shouldn't be having a pop at the crowd, who have all paid their hard earned to come and watch the team.

I like Culverhouse, but he needs abit of a thicker skin!!

General Discussion / The Pitch
« on: April 25, 2017, 12:29:51 AM »
It isn't the greatest - even Stevie Wonder can see that

But having just watched the chairmans interview, he states the pitch is being dug up next Tuesday and then there are "a couple of options on the table"

Now, where have we heard that before!! (sponsorship)

I get the impression that Culverhouse wants to play a passing game, so the pitch is important to get good home form.

Now, I've no idea of the cost of these things, and an artificial pitch obviously isn't an option, but St. Neots manage to get it right - their pitch is in superb condition and has been all season.

Are we confident our pitch will be decent for next season??

General Discussion / Final League Game Of The Season
« on: April 22, 2017, 12:09:26 AM »
Hopefully someone from the club reads this (Mr Cleeve!!)

But lets go out with a bang.

If we lose, so be it - we've lost daft games before this season.............lets just have one last good performance, with the team having a real go and leaving us fans drooling ahead of next season (and the County Cup Final)

General Discussion / The Chairmans Programme Notes
« on: April 17, 2017, 12:06:52 AM »
In general, what does everyone think of the chairmans programme notes??

I read tonight on Twitter that one person finds them "worth reading".....I do too.

It's struck me that over the season, the chairman is quick to have a dig at anyone and everyone in an attempt to deflect any heat from himself.

I stood at the ground yesterday, before the match, reading his notes and found myself literally shaking my head at the arrogant, patronising comments such as

"I find it extraordinary that there are 1 or 2 trust members that snipe from the sidelines" - there then followed his usual comment that the trust is an "organisation that has never given a penny to the football club"

"Some less educated fans that do not understand economics"

Talking about the recent meeting regarding price increases, the chairman says
"I think there was only the odd person who did not raise their hands and I put that down to their hearing ability rather than their disagreement with the concept"

Those comments are just from Saturday, but over the season there have been many comments where he is more than happy to have a pop.

To me, he thinks we are idiots

General Discussion / When Saturday Comes

Anybody seen the feature in this months edition about Kings Lynn (and Wroxham)

It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, but it's always nice to see the club get more exposure

General Discussion / Norfolk Senior Cup Semi
« on: March 13, 2017, 11:37:01 PM »
What sort of team will Culverhouse play??

Do you think he'll use reserves / fringe players or the strongest team possible to try and get some silverware??

How many Lynn fans do you think will go - 50?? 100?? 200+??

General Discussion / Steve Cleeve interview 4 months on
« on: December 01, 2016, 12:32:58 AM »

Just re-watched the interview that Mr Cleeve gave before the Banbury match, way back in August

Interesting, to say the least.

Anybody's thoughts, four months down the line from this interview??

General Discussion / Stratford Away
« on: October 23, 2016, 12:04:27 AM »
Not seen anything on here regarding today's match, so thought I'd start a thread.

At a guess there were 40ish of us who made the trip to see Lynn get a good point and in my opinion could easily have been all three.

Yes Pedro made some important saves, but I would guess we had by far the most possession and the best chances.

Metts hit a great free kick in the first half which cannoned back off the bar.
Kurtis had a one vs one with the keeper in the second half which he dragged (miles) wide
Metts had a one on one where the ball got tangled between his feet and the keeper smothered it.
Jacek hit this overhead kick just over the bar which would have been goal of the season!!

I read about the "doom and gloom" but todays result showed a willingness to battle - to the point of the melee which saw one of their players sent off.

Setch was pretty animated which I was happy to see - it must be hard for him (and the club) to lose his right hand man 48 hours before the match and tactically, I think today Setch got it spot on.

I have to talk about Metts.
At the start of the season I wasn't convinced, but his last few performances and the interview he gave on Radio Norfolk have won me over.
He'll be "Marmite" amongst fans in that people will either love him or hate him, there'll be no in between.
But, he works his nuts off, he plays on the edge, he riles opponents up, he scores goals.
For me, he sometimes gives the other lads a hard time, but I think that is just his desire and frustration to win - he gave Kurtis a really hard time when Kurtis missed his one on one.......yet when Kurtis got completely taken out, Metts was the first player to go and put his arm around him.
Metts is an asset to this club.

If I have to mention any negatives, we do lack a bite. Kurtis (in particular) and Clunan often shirk a 50-50, when I just wish they would be a bit stronger.

But, as I said earlier, a good point today - the boys played well

General Discussion / Gary Setchell playing career
« on: September 19, 2016, 01:03:51 AM »
Apologies if this has already been done.

I'm a newbie to Lynn this season (loving it, by the way!!) and I'm reading up on all sorts of stuff to improve my knowledge of the club.

However, I cannot find any details about Gary Setchell's professional career - Google says he played professionally, but Google hasn't been my friend in finding out who he played for.

If anybody can shed any light, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
