General Discussion / Non league football Day
« on: October 09, 2019, 12:22:39 PM »
Saturday is non league football day. Nantwich have a special offer
"To celebrate National Non-League Day, and to encourage fans to see the quality of football on offer in the 7th tier of English football, entry to the ground will be only 5 with a valid Premiership or EPL season ticker from ANY club."
I have been reading some of the twitter stuff from their supporters regarding their opinions of the Lynn fixture. Interesting reading ??
Last evening Nantwich drew 2-2 with Bamber Bridge in a game of three penalties.

Should be a good attendance next week. Bazza on Twitter has issued a rallying call including the idea of bringing your dog. Is this a pooch for a pound initiative. Certainly with dogged performances Lynn win a lot!

I thought I would start a new topic
.I don't know if anyone else agrees with me but I think the "York" one has become slightly boring/ repetitive. Anyhow, what predictions for Saturday.
Every year there are surprise results. I think Lynn are in for a tough game.

Congratulations to Setch and his team for achieving step 4 football next season. If they win on Saturday they get the UCL title as well. Three promotions achieved. Well done that man!

General Discussion / Beans on toast!

Just seen Wisbech Town, Paul Bastock and Setch on " Look East" including a stunning volley from Michael Frew! Apparently, their pre match preparation includes beans on toast which probably gives them a following wind on the pitch. I wonder what the Linnets have pre match!

General Discussion / Top of the league!
« on: August 20, 2017, 06:56:43 PM »
Just been looking at the websites for Banbury, Kettering and Redditch ( the teams around us at the top).
We are top for admission prices as being in the " zone between 60 and 65" I could go and watch those teams for 6!
Why some concessions at 60, other places at 65! Peterborough concessions at 60, Norwich 65.
Bus pass England 65, Wales 60!
I understand the revenue is needed to attract good players ( one of whom was out injured yesterday!)

General Discussion / Tonight's game
« on: March 21, 2017, 11:00:15 PM »
Here there may be a rise in admission prices next season! Regarding admission I think anyone who endured tonight's game deserves a refund! Yes, we were unlucky with the injuries. Apparently owing to the state of the pitch we don't play passing football but " put the ball into areas." It would be good if these areas were actually within the confines of the pitch. Hopefully, the manager has had enough time to see how good the current players are and hopefully we are not going to be subjected to a load of c--p for the rest of the home games this season. If we are going to see Step 5 standard of football perhaps this can be reflected in the admission
St Neots were a very entertaining group; full marks for their amateur dramatics and time wasting!
My MOM would be Eoin McQuaid.
Although I am 20 lighter ( admission, hot chocolate and petrol) I shall be back Saturday and look forward to an improved performance.
Anyone deserves a se

A win against Cambridge City would lift us to 11th in the table ( at least for 24 hours).
Eight or nine more goals ( spread out at 1 per game in some of the drawn games) would have put us round and about the play offs! We have the most drawn games of any step 2 or 3 teams. The missing ingredient a player who can " Look after the ball, know when to use it, when to drop into midfield."( The Chippenham manager describing one of his forwards)... And how to score!

General Discussion / Gateshead

Well done to everyone involved today. By all accounts put in a good performance against a step one side! Excellent support from the supporters who made the trip to Gateshead- a thank you owing to you from those of us who were unable to make the journey. Back to the league now and hopefully we can keep our recent form to continue to climb the table.

General Discussion / Fixtures
« on: November 30, 2016, 04:18:30 PM »
I see that in the rearranged fixtures the team have a 440 mile round trip to Merthyr on a Tuesday evening in January. I wonder what time the team get home ready for going to work the next day!
Never understand why Merthyr are in the Southern League and not in the Welsh League. I remember when Barry were also in the Southern league  the visiting teams played them on a Friday and Merthyr
The next day. I wonder if this could be avoided if early Facup and Trophy games could be midweek, thus avoiding the need to rearrange Saturday fixtures.

General Discussion / Attendances
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:40:43 AM »
Out of 80 cup ties yesterday Lynn had the 11th highest.
These were:
Stockport County 1425
Blyth Spartans 1065
Kidderminster 1050
Salisbury 945
Ebbs fleet 855
Sutton Town 823
Dulwich Hamlet 822
Worcester 721
Osset Town 694
Chelmsford 675
KINGS LYNN 674.

Next weekend I will look at the step 2 and 3 fixtures. Our game against Chippenham should be a good one, as I believe they are a footballing side and not like yesterday's visitors.

Can we make the top ten in the attendance list!
