General Discussion / Altrincham and Maidenhead
« on: September 26, 2021, 02:33:46 PM »
Well after the Wealdstone result, I guess we all have to dust ourselves down, stay positive and hope for the best. I believe Altrincham and Maidenhead to be better than Wealdstone, but "football is a funny old game", to quote one of the very best. Putting my positive hat on, I am struggling to see anything more than a point from each of the next two. If I put my realistic hat on, I come up with another couple of narrow defeats due to the lack of firepower. Hopefully one of you contributors can come up with a reason to be a bit more upbeat.

That is a result that should send tremors thro the Club.

Losing at home to a rel weak team who were reduced to 10 for the second half. As they put it , "a vital win" for them and a real blow to Lynn's chances. Matches against beatable sides don't come up that often in this league....when they come up, you have to pounce on them.

Can't help feeling a new forward is required urgently, because with a young side confidence can quickly fall away

General Discussion / Positives from Southend

Good to accentuate the positives where possible , some of which were :

Impressive performance by Paul Jones in goal by all accounts allowing Lynn to always be in the game and having conceded early they didn't concede again

Some good moments from Rowley too

No crowd trouble that I am aware off

General Discussion / Games Off

Currently 3 of Saturday's fixtures off with Bromley v Grimsby the latest due to Covid in the Grimsby camp.

Maybe someone can help me here;

If you have been double jabbed you don't need to self isolate if you come into contact with a positive case. If the players were all double jabbed, would this mean there would only be call offs if half a squad went down with it ? If so, why isn't this a priority ?

General Discussion / Matt Dennis

Lynn have lost out to Southend in relation to Matt Dennis.
The pacey Norwich u23 forward signed for Southend today.
He would have been a real asset and could be the difference next week.
Disappointing that we couldn't get him, following our helping Norwich last season with Simon Power and the fact the u23's will play at The Walks this year.

General Discussion / Alfreton
« on: August 07, 2021, 04:10:08 PM »
Very pleased they have had that reality check. Alfreton are a week ahead in terms of prep and are always up for it and usually pretty physical. Possibly the first real full on men's test and seems like they came up a bit short....seemed to have problems with Rhead all game.

Let's remind ourselves that they are a league below and part time.......however they are not a new squad as Lynn are.........fair bit of work to do before The Shrimpers methinks. We are a couple short, as IC has admitted....... could do with those in now as it's already a little late for them to bed in.

I believe the NL and NLN requirements over the course of a season are quite different and am not surprised that all the National League sides have found Alfreton a challenge.

Let's hope we can hit the ground running and get something from both Southend and Yeovil.....we can do without playing catch-up ..... fingers firmly crossed

Southend have bought 800 tickets in the away terrace and so far over 1500 tickets reported sold for the match.

As an aside I see Southend have reduced prices significantly following their relegation and currently have sold over 2,800 season tickets.
Just serves as a reminder for us all, of the size of the task in front of the club, on all levels this season.

I hope all fans are well catered for during the match day and it's a really positive match day experience...early prediction...think it will finish 1-1. :scarf:
