General Discussion / Aldershot fans not impressed
« on: February 13, 2024, 11:06:41 PM »
Josh Barrett and Theo look like they have been plucked from the lower reaches of the Aldershot and District Sunday league. Why start them together when Barrett is clearly not going to last until the second half? Sure enough he went off after 20 mins.

From their forum after losing to Fylde

General Discussion / Curzon Ashton
« on: April 23, 2023, 06:09:40 PM »
After watching the highlights of Curzon v Boston, I’m confident they can get at least a draw against Fylde on Tuesday. They have now gone 1O games unbeaten and a draw for them v Fylde would take them up to 5th and a play off spot. They scored a penalty v Boston, so hopefully TDH has watched that, just in case.
Our game against Curzon will of course be a tough game, but if they prevent Fylde from winning Tuesday, at least we know what is needed. Would be great to not be involved in the play offs, even with home advantage, I still have memories of Slough, Chippenham and Redditch.

General Discussion / Thank you Mark, Hugo, Paul, Steve
« on: April 03, 2023, 03:39:20 PM »
A big thank you to Mark and Hugo for stepping in to manage the club. Thank you Paul too for your coaching role and of course Steve too, for acting quickly in replacing TW.
It would be nice to see a big turn out Friday to show appreciation and get behind the team. It has been a difficult time for players and staff alike. Really hope that this team (all players) will see the season out and for Theo to score the winner in the play off final. Must be a difficult time for Theo, but while he is a Linnet, we must all support him.

General Discussion / Blyth Spartans
« on: January 03, 2023, 05:11:30 PM »
On to Blyth after picking up maximum points over the Christmas period. With current league positions, it is a game where we can hopefully get a good result. Will of course need to be weary, as we know it doesn’t always go that way.
Assuming that Aaron Jones will be suspended and Omotayo out, still recovering from the injury on Sunday. How far away is Ponticelli from featuring?, hopefully it’s not too far away. Guess that means that Stephens and Charles are likely to start up front, which is ok mind.

General Discussion / Leamington

Would think we will go with the same team again. Any thought on if Barrett should figure, personally I would say no. With another game just two days later, then maybe tweak it then. Firstly, we need to put out our best team to try and beat Leamington. I think we will get a win, prediction is 3-0.

General Discussion / Is TW the right man
« on: May 15, 2022, 07:53:12 PM »
How good really is Tommy Widrington and is he the right man for next season. In Tommy’s 27 league games we got 26 points. That is 0.9629 points per game on average. Based on that, if he had been here all season, we would have got 42.37 points, so ok under what Aldershot got. Would we have still been relegated? Well maybe, maybe not, I’m just pointing out that his 27 league games (result wise) were not overly impressive.
The one thing that i would question is why he didn’t bring in a goal scorer. Had he have done so, we may have gained that extra place and avoided relegation. Next season will be against teams of a lower quality than we faced this season, so how will we judge him. A lot of people are expecting us to at least be in the play offs and some even think we will win the NLN. Tommy will obviously want to win it, so good luck to him, I just hope he can find a better strike partnership.
