General Discussion / Re: Simon Power!!!!!!

Maybe Power will used as an impact player.   What defender would fancy him coming at them after 70mins.

Have to say this squad is looking very strong.   Apart from maybe 2/3 players (Marriott and new left back) guessing game on who will start the first game of the season.
He will be impacting for 90 mins. You don't get a player of his calibre and sit him on the bench.

Come on.Even mother Teresa would have found it impossible to hold her temper with that fool.He was prancing up and down like a dressage horse even before the game started.

I agree with Mr. Mallard’s choice of who to rest, and all in this squad should be aware they will again “resume duty” in no time at all.  Southwell needs a start, and has had some outstanding performances at this level.  Would also like to see Carey and Kelly back, and given some responsibility in the Bradford game.  Certainly agree with the belief that Bradford won’t be easy, as demonstrated by their victory over Chester, but I’m not tech-savvy enough to be able to look back to see who posted it !  I shall advise IC on the team selection for the game later in the week.......
Southwell started at Leamington.

We have missed Nathan Fox doing his wing back attacking r.ole. Think Ryan Fryatt needs more game time in Reserves and then subs bench for a while.

Hawkins is not getting into squad and might benefit going out on loan to keep him game fit.
Have We missed Fox with Barrows and Jones at full back.He is a decent player but those that have come in are his equal atleast. With the amount of games we have coming up I doubt very much Hawkins will be loaned.

Have to agree with this especially if the football club are still paying his wages, which we don't know.As regards the injury Culverhouse said in one of his recent post match interviews he had an operation on his knee.

Any news on injuries ? Or improvements ?  Kelly, Richards, Fryatt, McAuley , Gash ?  Or anyone else ?
Barrows is not injured as stated above but Kelly felt his calf again Saturday.Apparently Richards and Mcauley were in the kick about before Ebsfleet. Those two would be a massive loss if not playing.

I should imagine there have been scouts at lots of our games.Orient are now about the fifth club Marriot is allegedly joining.

Possibly one or two Grissles, but let's not forget that the break even attendance was discussed here before and at a rough estimate it was reckoned to be 1500-1800 . Further drainage works of £50-60k have also been mooted and The Chairman doesn't have endless pockets.
Many of the available players are carrying knocks and could do with some rest...Gash, Hendo, Fox, McCauley,Richards in particular.
I can't think The Trophy is Ebbsfleet's main concern at the minute.....I suspect, like Dover they will field something of a second string and after 7-0 v Barrow, challenges could be flying in, as happened with Dover. Be interesting to see IC's take on it and who he goes with.
pretty sure the break even attendance is much lower than 1500.Thought it was nearer 800.

Culverhouse may be saying the club is punching, but having spoken to some of the players they tell me he is not telling them that behind closed doors.I think it his way of keeping everyone's feet on the ground.

Both Pedro and Ross Barrows both played unwell  and I thought Ross played really well And not in his favoured position

That makes sense for Pedro as I thought he was poor today - glad it was because he was ill and not one of "those" performances that he has from time to time.

Also, today isn't a day to be negative, but Hawkins just doesn't seem quite up to it these days??

But........what a performance, what a team - Dover were no mugs
I thought Hawkins had a good game.Heavily involved in the first goal and the move that Marriot missed a sitter.

Its strange that we all have different opinions on todays game, I suppose it depends on where we sit/stand etc. Mallards review on Gash is different to mine, I thought he was off the pace today from the 1st minute, ok the pitch was heavy but for some reason in the last couple of months he thinks he can dribble past every defender, well he does not have the speed to do that, also he is getting caught offside even more than Marriot, now that is an achievement. Its not just my opinion, its many in the main stand. I would like to see Hawkins more upfront, defenders do not like players with real pace running at them, Hawkins has the lot, a game changer.  No Kelly today, anyone know why, or have I missed something?
Probably the same idiots in the stand who were moaning against Gateshead.I'd like to see them take the battering he gets week in week out and be 100 percent every game.Unbelievable.

I think Blyth will park the bus and hope they can nick a goal on the break through the talented Roberts.I remember us thinking we could roll Bedworth over at home last year.

Kelly is a talented boy but has struggled to find his best so far and Richards is a different type of player but a good footballer and more consistent performer.

I'm the first to admit I was not a fan of his and he was a disaster at Farnborough when we got thrashed but he definitely improved as the season wore on and we need cover.

I can't help thinking that Chester maybe putting a spanner in the works before a big game. Also if the club has not officially said who was interviewed I don't see how the Chester standard would know.
