General Discussion / Re: Southwell signs!
« on: Today at 12:45:43 PM »
Halifax fans seem to think Southwell got a rough deal playing under their previous Manager who used him as a lone striker.

Also on their forum it seems a certain Cameron King is out of contract there in the summer.... guess where they suggested he might be heading.   They rate him as highly at The Shay the same as we did.

I meant more in the way that they tackle issues head on and donít pussyfoot around.

Saturday will be interesting to see what line-up/formation that IC comes up with.  No Barrows, and to get Hendo and Power in the line-up.

Great work from Robbie Back pulling this one off.  Great support from the Chairman and a big signal that we are looking for National League Football next season with that contract.

Must give IC a massive uplift to think if something happens to his front two then he has that kind of quality to come in.

Hard to remember better days than these as a Lynn fan.

That lad was quality when Blyth came to the Walks.

I think our squad is strong enough with good competition for places. So donít expect much activity now, but then again you never know.

Just read Stephen Cleeveís column from Saturday.   As entertaining as always.  The only reason I buy one.    He really is the Piers Morgan of the programme Notes World.

Keep it up Mr Chairman

It wasnít the parked cars, it was the slow moving traffic down Tennyson Ave that were the sitting ducks.  I guess any damage to the cars would come out of the Clubs public liability insurance.

Collection was done at the interval, as I recall.  Seems as though it was a bit hit and miss, hence why it came out £700 quid from a crowd of that size.
Iíve an idea mallard next home game why donít you dress as a linnet and have a collection box for donations before , during and after the game  :dontknow:

Iíd gladly help at the next home, if help was required.  Not sure about the dressing up part, canít see that would bring much to the party.
Will certainly be giving a few quid again if another collection is made.

Disappointed for the collector if he was given dogs abuse in doing something to ensure games go ahead at The Walks.   Hate it when there is no Saturday Football, because of the weather.

The collection bucket that came in the stand where I was sitting was there and gone in a flash, not passed along the row, so it seemed like those of us who were sitting on the end of the rows were the only ones to contribute.   Canít speak for the rest of the ground but that was sure how it was where we were sitting.

Steve you did a good job in getting the game on after all that rain.   IC is saying he canít play the style of Football he wants to on that surface, so hopefully with all the planned drainage improvements planned for the summer it will be possible to get the surface that IC needs.

Saw that Hill.  Also in the same paper Three players from the game made the papers National League Team of the Week.   For Lynn Power and Jarvis for York ..... McNulty ( amazing). Manager of the week was a certain I. Culverhouse.

Another part of the master plan was Barrows coming in on the left hand side in place of Fox.  Barrows stronger in the air and seem to recall Fox got a bit of a chasing at York.   Barrows held his position well on that side allowing Power not to worry about the defensive side.  Mind you, it didn't stop him tracking back and putting in some timely tackles.

General Discussion / A few thoughts from the York game.

1.  Fantastic crowd of over 4,000.  The 3rd biggest in Non League Football.

2.  Car parking, rumours are that cars were being towed away from Tennyson Ave and parking tickets being handed out like confetti.   I seem to remember for the Oldham game the Club hired the parking at St James School. Surely if we had done this and also the same at the Hospital it would have got a few hundred cars out of the equation.  At a fiver a pop the club should have had some up sell there on the game.    Missed a trick there Mark.  Something that might need thinking about for the future.

3.  During Yorkís warm up balls were being loaded into Tennyson Road and cars being struck.  Would it make sense for some kind of high fence netting to be installed to prevent this ?

4. Toilets. There were long queues for the these on the main stand side, with males using the females and disabled facilities, and of course they were in a disgusting state.

Just a few things we can improve on, going forward.
