General Discussion / Re: FA Cup away to Worksop Town
« on: September 24, 2024, 10:59:13 PM »
The 28th September sounds good, but almost impossible to get there by train.

Hopefully SC will get a coach organised...or am I still deluded ?

Back in the good old days, there would be one or more. But now? who know

Train to Retford then change to Worksop.( 10 minute)

Usual manager talk.
I know he's inherited a crap team but I'm yet to be impressed with him.

What a disappointment but perhaps not completely surprising and a much needed reality check? In fact Fylde indirectly may well have done us a favour, in that if we had won the league that may have resulted in us thinking we are better than we are?

Sometimes it is the way you lose rather than just the losing and for me, today brutally exposed certain frailties that have been evident in a number of matches in the latter part of the season, when we have managed to overcome them in the majority of games - to the credit of the squad and the management.

Today though our limitations were brutally exposed by an excellent team who had obviously done their homework. They cut through our central midfield almost at will and exposed our lack of pace at the back.

Kidderminster were sharper had intensity and forward runners with and off the ball, so the player in possession always had good options: we did not do any of this with the exception of Stephens and I felt we were hanging on almost from the outset. In fact if it had not been for the excellent Dixon-Hodge the defeat could have been much heavier.

Tommy Hughes has done an excellent job so far but is also going through a steep management learning curve and maybe today he was too kind to what has become his preferred starting eleven: in that even accepting their recent lack of game time it was obvious that we needed to change something sooner rather than later, yet he only brought Hargreaves and Denton on when the game, effectively was lost. With Scott not even on the bench i assume he is still not fully fit???

One thing i also continue to question is the value of being full time at this level. Speaking with a Kiddy supporter on the way out he said they are part time - surely not on the evidence of today???

Maybe full time is a proposition that enables you to attract promising talent who may develop a sell on value but it is also attractive to those that just want to remain 'full time' but who have been less than successful elsewhere?

Mr Cleeve has some imminent and big decisions to make!

Kiddie are full time.

I heard he concerned about the **** he had received from a certain section of the fans in the ground and comments on the supporters facebookpage. If that is true then the Chairman has to take some responsibility for that by failing to protect a  member of his staff from abuse by continuing to allow this small group to attend games and not banning them. With him now leaving I suppose they will call that a victory.
Rubbish.
