Without a wealthy owner / owners, the club has for some time been in real trouble with doubts of its future. Don’t see why Bal / Joe got involved in the club unless they have some master plan, but they probably haven’t. Did anyone really think we would not revert back to part time next season (assuming there will be a next season) and that with that the management and many players would leave, it is their full time job after all. Remember when we were in the United Counties League, it wasn’t that bad and right now that is better than no club at all.

Chorley are semi professional I think...yet we were all seemingly happy with a 0-0 up until the 83rd minute. An attacking approach all season would have probably won us the league and kept us entitled fans happy
We haven’t had good enough forwards and just because we are full time doesn’t mean we will beat a semi pro team. We are not ready for National League, on or off the pitch. Let’s strengthen where needed and go again next season.

It was always going to be a tall order to win the playoffs. We would have needed to outscore 3 very good teams, away too. That’s been our downfall all season, not scoring. Hopefully, AL will stay and sign a couple of forwards. I’d like to see him adopt a more passing game too. However, there is some uncertainty, so until that is clarified we will have to just wait and see what develops. Overall, a good season.

How refreshing to see passing football, shame it was Chester and not us. Yes, disappointing result, but still got into the playoffs. Not too worried about it being away, though pleased it isn’t at Chester, as it could have been. It’s straight knockout stuff now, no pressure of being at home and our pitch isn’t the best. Big ask to win 3 games against good teams, but stranger things have happened. It took us 33 minutes to have a shot at goal. Better in the second half, but maybe partly because Chester were in a very comfortable position and took their foot off the gas. Straight from the kick-off, we just hoof the ball out to the left wing and concede possession, exactly the same from the restart after going 1-0 down. Long balls throughout the game, really need to take a leaf out if Chester’s book and pass the ball, keeping possession. Good luck in the play offs

Obviously, as with every game, go out to win. If the score is level with 15 minutes to go, would both teams be content to just play out the game, probably not. If we score first, then AL may change tactics. Surely though, Chester will rest their top players for Wednesday, isn’t that what we would do if it were us that were 4th. We have to go out to win the game, not just to be in the playoffs, but to have a home game next.

That winning goal will most probably be enough to make the playoffs. Can’t see Hereford winning their last game. Another clean sheet, very impressive recently. Great achievement to make the playoffs, so well done AL and team.

I have never read such doom and gloom in my life I believe some on here need to spit on their hands and get a fresh hold
Ok, so I was wrong about not getting back into the playoffs and I would love to see Lynn win promotion. I used to be an almost ever present at home games since the late 60’s. We got into the National League and even had the benefit of a season there with no threat of relegation, which was just as well. Second season, we corrected nothing and got relegated. Following season we finished 24 or so points above Kidderminster and get stuffed by them at home in the playoffs. Since then I’ve been just 3 times, Scarborough at home, 3-0 up at half time and lost 4-3. Warrington at home, we won and then Spennymoor a couple of weeks ago, which was quite honestly embarrassing. We have difficulty in scoring, but we don’t bring in a forward. Imagine playing let’s say, Scunthorpe, Kidderminster, or maybe Chester away in the playoffs. Our ground is uninviting and has seen better days too. I think that SC has taken the club as far as he can and it’s time for a change. I saw the goal against Leamington and the celebrations were great to see, but I would feel a bit more optometrist if we had a 9, or 10 who could score more than they do. Unfortunately, I’ve gotten out of the habit of watching Lynn, with their unattractive style of football.

As I stated at the beginning of this thread I feel our playoff chances have passed IMHO, hoping I’m wrong but tomorrow is definitely a game we are capable of winning, if we are to drop more points I see no way back for this season.
I don’t see us getting back into a playoff place, let alone finishing in one. Really though, imagine if we did and somehow won promotion, we would then need a massive change of players to compete at National League. Based on what I saw last Saturday, Buxton will have a comfortable afternoon tomorrow. AL has brought in a couple of decent midfielder’s recently, if he can do the same with a couple of forwards before next season then we may have a better chance.

Talking to a work colleague and Boston United fan today, Boston United confirm they will be going full time next season, irrespective of whether they get relegated. Should that be the case their chairman “wants to give them the best chance of promotion back to the National League”. Maybe if we revert to part time and Omotayo wants to remain full time, then Boston will take him. Boston will be starting work soon on their new stand behind the goal. A shame we have stood still in that respect.

Just imagine where we would be if we didn't play this rather dull style of football? We could very easily be occupying a top 3 position and that's not impossible with the majority of this squad that we have as they have shown on a few occasions what they're capable of. A few tweaks over the summer and a general change in philosophy by the manager and I have no doubt next season we will be up there. In my opinion I think it has been another poor league where if any team had something about them they would be walking away with it by now.
Oh well, let's just see the season out and see where we end up. I'll carry on turning up and supporting the club through thick and thin
I think we need much more than a ‘few tweaks’. We’ve not had a reliable forward all season, we simply haven’t scored enough goals. The manager isn’t going to change his style of football, we would be much better in replacing him. He has had his chance with ‘his team’ and not really impressed. We play unattractive, boring to watch football, long ball looking for Omotayo who just doesn’t cut it. It’s time for a change of manager.

I went yesterday for the first time since Warrington. Why would I want to go again anytime soon, it was so dire. Long ball all day long looking for Omotayo, who doesn’t jump, or if he does he fouls. The players and style of football is down to AL. The attendances make it difficult to fund full time football and I can’t see that continuing next season. It’s time for a new manager (Culverhouse back) who wants to play passing football instead of long ball.

Very good result today and a big well done to Gold. Credit and praise were due, I’m sure that will give him a huge confidence boost.

Unfortunately Coastal, I don’t think he would ever be prolific. For his size and build he should dominate much more. Didn’t he start off his career as a goalkeeper, I seem to remember him saying. I remember him chesting the ball down for Barrett to score a 40 yard volley at Peterborough Sports, but I will remember him best for his goal at Doncaster Rovers.

John, tell me you didn’t expect us to get beat there tonight ?
We are miles off it. Last 13 games have pulled in 16 points with just 16 goals scored. We are creating very little. No McFadden or Johnson again tonight. Nothing new player wise coming through the door. No info on what’s happening with players or indeed off the field activities.
I’ve got us done as finishing 11th. So maybe time for everyone to downgrade their expectations
We have fallen a mighty long way from the team that thumped Kiddie 4-0 at home..
Mallard, no it wasn’t any surprise that we lost, our current form is poor. We can’t score or keep clean sheets, so only one outcome there. I think people’s expectations have definitely changed. As you say, no new forward looks likely, so unlikely to make the play offs. All seems mysterious that we have bought in someone by now. When Culverhouse was manager, he had it seems, better contacts. I recall Simon Power coming on loan from Norwich and making his debut v York (what a day that was). Re the York game, we played attractive passing football. Irrespective to or current results, our football is not pleasing on the eye, that is down to the AL I guess. Just watched his post match interview and pleased that he wasn’t looking for excuses and admitted that the best team won. If he can’t bring new players in, then he has to make do with what he has. He will still believe that the play offs are achievable, somehow he has to get the players to believe in it too.

No shame losing away at Kidderminster, hey Mallard. AL must be starting to wonder how safe his job is.
