Are there any Sports that are 8 a-side ?  General question as nothing much going on at the moment

Quidditch is seven a-side.

Close enough?   :dontknow:

Quidditch wouldn’t wreck the pitch too much either. How much is it to get in?

Get the food wagons back in that we had during the Bobbins day. They had one at each end of the ground.  Keen price, good service, great fast food.  Can’t remember the name.

Posh Nosh.

Very hypocritical by their chairman and some of their more vocal supporters, all of which were happy for their game to stay on the Wednesday when none of us had a clue how much later we’d be playing Stratford, and were then happy to play on the Thursday when our game was scheduled for Friday. Cleeve complains (Alvechurch actually came out on Social Media at the time and said they would have done the same in our position) and all of a sudden the boot’s on the other foot and everyone loses their minds.
In the middle of it all let’s not forget Stourbridge’s Chairman was threatening to just pull his team out of the play offs altogether. If he’d done so I wonder if all their fans and players would have felt about it.

Let’s not forget all four clubs had also agreed to Monday/Wednesday before the FA stepped in and made everyone change again. Stourbridge had cricket Friday/Saturday and half of Lynn was shut for GEAR on Sunday. Somebody was going to be inconvenienced as a result.

Not that it matters now but the biggest joke was that we could have just played the games on the original dates after all.

In the play offs you’ll take any advantage, no matter how small.

Reading Stratford supporters’ take on this last night they’re saying it relates to a player who came from Coalville and has played at Stratford for the last four months!

They may have initially got something wrong when registering but the league need to take some responsibility for this by allowing the situation to go on this long. Stratford have been well in the mix for the top 5 for much of the season so the league and FA have had no excuse for not getting this sorted out earlier.

Gloucester, Oxford City and Braintree are the front runners to be shifted north.

Yet Robbo, last season’s runnaway Champions (Hereford) ended up a lowly 17th in The National League North.  Mind the North section is stuffed full of Ex League Clubs, where as the National South has very few.

Bit of a disjointed season for them, thinking they were going to win promotion again at a canter and sacking the manager who had previously led them to three successive promotions. National North is defintely a tough division. Took Stockport six years to get out of it, and York haven’t exactly flourished in that division either.

Massive well done to all involved, fingers crossed for the play offs now.

Where was Clunan today was he not in the squad??

Fixtures didn't end up being much help with being such an important game today, stratford rested a lot of their regular players today with 5 youngsters making their full team debut so take no notice of their 5-1 thrashing at Kettering.

Encouraging that Stourbridge seemed to play their regular lineup from what I can see so if we were to get them in the final again would have a very good chance.

Other encouraging stat being of course that we've beaten all 3 other play-off contenders in the last's all about how much we have left in the tank though! Come on you linnets!  :cup2: :cup2:

Shows how much has changed since we lost 1-0 at home to Stourbridge last September.

We were languishing just outside the relegation places whilst they were amongst the early pace setters. Looked very much like they were in a two horse race with Kettering while the play offs still looked a very distant target for us.

Since November we’d been on a charge whilst Stour’s form fell away somewhat alarmingly since Christmas. A lot of their supporters seem to have pointed at having a small squad and the loss of key players at crucial times.

I always believed that we would get into the top 5 once the ship had been steadied, but never thought we would make up enough ground to actually finish runners up, a fantastic achievement by the team and management.

Says a lot about the strength of last season’s play off contenders, Slough missed out on a play off place in the NLS on the final day, Kettering and Weymouth winning their respective divisions with Lynn runners up.

Ok, the EDP covers the whole of Norfolk and bits of Support but no harm in trying to tap them for support in some way.  As for the Lynn News and YLP.  Lord has stated that they offer sponsorship for the U18 and the Lynn New, I know in the past have been the headline sponsor of the first team.

There is also nothing to stop the reporters from
The above two papers offering to buy season tickets to show thier support for the club, is there ? Robbo, I think you are the announcer (stand to be corrected) do you buy a season ticket or are you happy to be taking a few ( free admission) for your work?  That is not a dig at you just interested to hear your views on the subject.

Like the idea to charge for coverage. Everyone with an interest in the club should support it.

Forgive me for being controversial, but I don’t see a problem with volunteers getting free entry to games. We are all doing something to serve the club and ensure it can function on a match day. I can’t speak for all but I still pay for my food and drink, tote tickets and match programme in the ground. I’ve also bought the home and away shirts in the last two seasons so it’s not like I don’t contribute to the club financially, but in truth with travel on top each trip to The Walks still costs me around £50 and at times things can get pretty tight as I’m sure most supporters would agree.

I enjoy what I do, and I work with a team of good people, but there are times you miss being on the terrace as a regular fan.

Regarding the Media/Press team, other clubs in the league welcome our team for free when we are away, and we reciprocate when they come to us. I imagine it would cause resentment if we were to charge as it would surely have to be an all or nothing thing? Then you’ve got visiting club officials and directors. Where does it stop?

The way I see it, if the club didn’t have volunteers some of the roles would have to be paid to ensure they are covered and even the cost of a person at National living wage for 3-4 hours on a match day would far outweigh the cost of an adult match ticket. Some of the roles currently being fulfilled by volunteers are mandatory just to cover the ground’s H&S requirements for a start.

For a non league club we are quite frankly spoilt with the media coverage we do get. I doubt there are many, if any non league clubs that can match our coverage.

Three local/regional newspapers. Regular full commentaries from Radio Norfolk. Again there are other clubs to choose from besides us when Norwich aren’t playing at the same time. Hospital Radio have also been doing match commentaries this season. Video coverage has dropped in the last few weeks which has also caused moans, but Daryl is also a volunteer providing a service on match days when he can, intended to be for the benefit of the fans.

Still a few warriors quick to moan if the match day coverage drops but still happy to pick up their tweets on the live feed for example. Maybe they should start charging the admins of the live feed for the service they are providing?

Charge the press to report on and publicise our games ??? Never heard anything so ridiculous , who 's gonna be charged next, stewards ? first aiders? ground staff?   If we don't get coverage in the press people moan then some want to charge them for the privilege of doing so. We've got to encourage these people, use them to promote the club and all the fantastic events that may come out of these upcoming discussions and meetings. :welcome: :scarf:

Well said. Imagine if the EDP (as an example) had to pay for admission to all of the sporting events that they cover. If they’re paying admission for Lynn but not for say Dereham, that could cause a backlash. In the current climate it wouldn’t be worth their while. The back pages of the local papers are probably the biggest platform of free advertising these clubs get!

Stratford’s visit to us was possibly the most boring 0-0 I’ve ever watched. They wanted the draw from the first minute and we couldn’t break them down. They were happy to celebrate that at the end like they’d won the league. We’ve grown as a team since then. A draw from our perspective wouldn’t be catastrophic but we are more than capable of going there and winning.

Hopefully the troubles of the past can be laid to rest and we can all enjoy the game.

Lots of Coalville’s play went through Perry at their place, caused us problems but his early bath did swing the game dramatically in our favour.
