General Discussion / Re: The B & G Bar

We donít want everyone buying on line as it means there would be a queue of those with online tickets to get in!!!! I like it now where you can just arrive and more or less walk straight in. It is not true that all clubs use plastic glasses.

Plastic glasses and queue to get served!!!  Glasses and more staff needed.  When this is addressed, then maybe more, including myself, will use the bar.

Gris, why donít you just buy a season ticket? Cleeve has posted on Facebook saying a much increased uptake and he says it works out at only 80p per game more than last season.  Surely even you canít moan at this; can you?

Or do both, pay more and of course contribute to the ground development fund.

I agree with Blue Moon and Sworn 2 Secrets.  Personally I wouldnít object to an additional £2 or £3 on the ticket price to help with the ground improvements.  As Sworn says, Trustís funds cannot be spent on anything other than a share of the ownership of the club.  Raising separate designated funds for ground improvements as the Trust are doing is the best way to help the club.

You could link it to the number of tin cans brought to each game.  Anyone else got ideas for a loyalty scheme based on the tin can project?  Just let Gris know.

Gris, just because yours are the only suggestions it doesnít make them viable or acceptable.  Anyone can come up with glib suggestions which in my view is exactly what you appear to have done. I might be wrong, you might well have detailed plans, costings, viability and feasibility studies all prepared together with projected revenue returns so you can present this to Cleeve for him to consider. I wonder how you classify the ďmentalityĒ reference in your post.  It is not a state of mentality it is a matter of fact. No one is insisting or forcing you spend your money in any particular way, the choice is yours. Moaning about admission charges or the cost of drinks and food within the ground is not getting you anywhere and whatever you say or do is not going to change it.  Just give it a rest.

Why on earth would I have a problem with you Gris.  I couldnít care less who you are or what you do and I only comment on what you post on here.  Where I live is irrelevant. Youíre always moaning about costs and itís about time you gave it a rest.  If you donít like it then no one is compelling you to spend on something you think overpriced.  Some people like you might well cease their support, thatís to be expected, but if the club does well, then in my view the gate will increase.  Success costs money and unless supporters pay for it then we are going nowhere. Relying solely on sponsors and hair-brained ill thought-out fund raising schemes is for fantasists.

Very fair pricing structure.  Thought it might have been higher so good on Cleeve.  Maybe heís relying on Gris pulling his finger out and getting some of his fund raising schemes up and running.  Iím really looking forward to the tin can collection, that should be a real winner.  Itíll be interesting to see what Cleeve does with all the money Gris has said it will bring.  Supposedly ďa nice little earnerĒ, little being the operative word.

This one is down to Gris.  I feel sure he can follow this up, I was just making a constructive suggestion.  Regarding other ideas, I have already given mine; increase the admission prices and we all know Grisís view on that.  We also all know what a brilliant ideas man Gris is but maybe he might like to try to put some into action himself instead of criticising others for not implementing his ďschemesĒ.

Whereís the solar installation cost coming from?  Maybe the installer could do it free of charge by way of sponsorship!!  Surely a local firm in this field would have the contacts to do this.  Think we need the additional income now, before the start of the season, not spread over the next 40 years.  As for recycling facilities, I suppose it could go on the car park at Tennyson Road end, itís a dump now so the addition of a few recycling containers on there wouldnít matter.

I would much rather pay a little bit more for admission.  At least this would bring in hard cash.  In my view instead of say, £18 it could be £20.  This would not only help with the playing budget but also help with the costs of the improvements necessary.  Successs has to be paid for, we should not expect it for nothing, wouldnít you agree Grissles?.  What other clubs charge is totally irrelevant.

Canít believe what Iím hearing;  who the hell is going to a game of football with a load of tin cans!!!!  In any event, the scrap value is very small.  Any more hair-brain schemes?   All this to avoid paying a reasonable admission price.  As said by others, the admission price will have to rise by a small amount of a fiver or so, any other fund raising schemes will be in addition to this, not in place of it.  Iím afraid it wonít be a voluntary contribution as everyone will need to pay the going rate so we can professionally finance the club rather than some airy fairy scheme that might or might not raise a few pounds which in the scale of finance required will, believe me,  be insignificant.

I just canít see what all the fuss is about.  A fiver on the admittance price only equates to £2.50 per week.  Hardly the end of the world.  If anyone honestly believe the club would survive on a bit of fund raising here and there then they are sadly mistaken.  Our costs in the National League will increase by 3 or 4 fold.  Travelling costs will be horrendous, wages will inevitably rise along with all the other usual cost increases.  I would rather pay a reasonable entry fee (in my view £18 would be ok) so the club is in a least with a chance of surviving in the new league.  It is absolutely irrelevant what other clubs charge and if the team does well, I am confident the gates would increase.  Cleeve has already stated that he will not continue to finance the club at the level he has to date.   Finding sponsors and possibly other investors is not going to be easy for two reasons; the uncertainty of the economy and the owners past record.  The assumption by some regarding attendance figures relative to any price increase is pure speculation, just as mine is.  None of us really know, the only certainty is substantial cost increases, that I can guarantee.

Why not.  Unfortunately Griss, itís not all about you and what you want to pay. You seem to convey that you know so much about finances and marketing, maybe Cleeve should put you in control of these!!
