General Discussion / Re: Linnets hold Leaders
« on: March 14, 2025, 12:17:42 PM »
I also thought it was a lively match and agree with previous posters about the determination of both sides.

It was initially played at a very quick pace and I wondered if it would be possible to keep it up for 90 minutes. And things did slow down gradually, but not at the expense of the effort and entertainment. A draw was a fair outcome.

I also agree that we had the best of the first half, but not the second. Well worth the money, even though it continues to devalue my season ticket 😉

Has anyone noticed how quiet it is on here when we win 🤐😶‍🌫️😴💤💤

It's a great 3 points and we should applaud it as such 😺 ⚽⚽

We can always hope for a home win on Tuesday night as well, although I've recently noticed that when I'm at home asleep during a match we tend to win 🤔

So my quandary is...do I enjoy the match on my birthday and hope for a win...or do I stay at home asleep for the good of the club 😏

Excellent 3 points that.  Keeps Lynn in the mix for a top 7th place.  Looks like AL got it spot on with Gold starting.

You know that bloke Gold, he's a really great fellow 😸

Just glad we're able to have him back on our team 😀

Hang on a minute. Have I slipped into the twilight zone again 🤔😂

Don't tell me. Did he accidentally fall onto the ball a couple of times ? did they hit him on some part of his anatomy and go in ?

Of course in part I'm joking, but I'm seriously impressed with him today.

If AL has found the sweet spot with Gold, I'm delighted 😃 and long may it last 😁

Sounds like we're writing his obituary ⚰️

I just don't like the bloke, and Gold, like Barrett, often looks like he just can't be bothered. He regularly comes across as arrogant and disinterested 🥱

But I accept he helps at the back and agree that his Donny goal was brilliant 😏

He's a "Marmite" player 😝😍 When he scores we love him 😺...

It's a tough watch.

He can't seem to work out if it's his "fault" or the players'. Or both.

Having seen him struggling to name more than a couple of players who did the job, it's difficult to see how it will play out for both him and the "team".

Do they all step up. Or are P45's more likely. Either way, we certainly can't rely on any vulnerability on their part.

For Lynn it's just another match and another 3 points are up for grabs.

I don't think AL understood the concept of Josh Barrett...skill ...vision and a game changer

Well that makes two of us at least 😏

Another player who was and is "misunderstood" is Mr Gold. I've made no secret of the fact that I was glad when he left... and extremely disappointed with his return.

AL has put on record the fact that he's struggling to see how to fit Gold into the team.

I suggest that AL should admit defeat on that one, as to shuffle the team about, just to find that sweet spot, will probably have a detrimental effect on the rest of the team.

The club has been on that dodgy ground before. Mettam and Grant Holt spring to mind, although I suspect the latter was just a headline grabber.

There's no "I" in team 😕...apparently.

Full time club, full time job maybe. Ok, simple question, would you renew his contract.

For me it's a "no".

We're mostly playing a defensive game, but without a strong enough back line and not enough regular goal getters. You can't just say "come and break yourselves against our defenders, it's a no through road ⛔", when it clearly isn't.

He's spending too much time coming up with excuses for the standard of play and the lack of goals.

But give the bloke credit for getting us in and around the playoffs.

And if watching some dull and frequently painful football gives us the points we need, I'll take it. But I don't have to like it 😿

Nothing really changes. Smoke and mirrors!

The trouble is that I'm afraid what we'll see when the mirrors shatter and the smoke clears 😶‍🌫️😯😢😭

Tommy's Aldershot fall into the relegation zone.

It's entirely possible that Shots and Lynn could swap divisions next season.

Ships that pass in the night.

Rock on.

Hmmm 🤔 Revenge is a dish best served cold 🧊🧊🧊...

Noooooo ! Not again 😭😭😭

(For clarity, the above is a joke 😉 I'm secretly really pleased that the club is getting  more bums on seats🫡)

So having read the forum yesterday I got the impression that we were pretty lame to say the least.

But in the LN article Lakeland appeared to blame the pitch, names a couple of players, bewails the fact that potential signings have gone elsewhere and anything else he could think of.

Nowhere does he take any blame himself 😕

Oh, I forgot the one about our location 🙄

The fans apparently escaped censure this time, but I'm sure we'll be back in the next report.

He's now starting to come across to me as delusional 😔

And I know we've been up in the playoffs for a while, until yesterday, but perhaps it says more about the opposition playing badly than us playing well. Time will tell ⏰😒

Hate to say it, but it sounds like I didn't miss much. (I meant to go, but decided I couldn't bear to see all those £5 paying people laughing at me behind my back 🫣)

And just for the benefit of people who like to have a poke at me for not playing nicely in the sandbox...I'm joking 😉

It's called "sarcasm" or "having a sense of humour" and any decent dictionary will provide definition and clarification as required 😺

And no, I'm not having a go at anyone 🙄

Just think of me as being a poor Elon Musk...all of his neurodivergency, but none of his money. Sadly.

It's a great deal, but I might as well cut up my season ticket for all the value I got from it. Even buying it as early bird, I'm wondering just why I bothered 😕

And please spare me the old platitudes about "supporting the club" it doesn't wash with me I'm afraid. Simple maths, at a time when people's wallets are hurting, tells me a season ticket is simply a waste of money 😔
Dick Turpin springs to mind 💸💸💸

« on: February 08, 2025, 06:48:56 PM »
I switched off the volume on my phone as I thought we'd lose this one 😾
I wanted to pick my own time to hear the expected bad news 🙀

I just didn't want my day getting worse any earlier than it had to 😿

So imagine my surprise and elation when I found out we'd only gone and beaten them in their own home 😺⚽

"Oh ye of little faith" I hear you cry 😼

But as a Linnet since Oldham 2006 I've learned to take the rough with the smooth 😺
