For the first time in 80 yrs the Darlington team are staying over night for their game with the Linnets.

Searching their forums and social media, they will be reasonably well supported on the terraces. However, not sure they will bring numbers that they have taken to other Northern games. Result of bad results and the distance!
8 years I think you will find.

People keep saying Jones in and give Jarvis a rest but although I agree he has looked a bit jaded lately and a rest would be good I don't see Jones in Jarvis's class on the ball even though he is much quicker.Unless he is carrying a knock Culverhouse will not drop him as he has such an influence on the team.

Those that refer to this club as a "Sleeping Giant" are sadly, these days completely misguided. The club's fans have been divided, in terms of what they want for years. The genuine core fan base seems to be currently 750 max with another potential 700 or so who are happy to cherry pick and come to a play-off or a cup game.
A "Sleeping Giant" would currently be being cheered on by a couple of thousand at this stage of the season.
The only things currently consistent with the "Sleeping Giant" tag are the owner's money and ambition, the management and team and the ground. I hope SC is successful, because at this stage of the game if he fails, the only thing that will be left is the ground. A ground which is 80% empty almost all of the time. Without the owner's ambition, I can see crowds of 350-500 being the norm, which might support a struggling step 3 side or a top half step 4 side.At that level of interest from the town's population surely the Council could call time on the ground, negotiate a settlement with SC and suggest the club move to Lynnsport.
Having said all of this, I am a supporter of the Trust and the Trust model and would love to see supporters more involved...but where are they when needed ?
Wake up football fans who live in the town.....it's  possibly getting to a point of "use it or lose it...possibly for good"
Our average gate is better than 12 of the conferance South and I'm pretty sure the current squad is good enough to cut it a league up so let's not be all doom and gloom. There are clubs much smaller than ours that have played at a better level than us for a long time and if you have no ambition to progress then people lose interest. Not sure if I would attend if the height of our ambition was to remain in the Southern League.

Says he has signed only till end of the season so maybe a short term contract.  Maybe lessons are being learnt after what the seemingly error with the Jake Kerins signing.   Crazy if £300 of the first team budget is being played in the Reserves.  Makes the business rates on The George at Cley look value for money.
I agree Mallard: Culverhouse cocked up with Kerins.
Even Fergie made some duff signings in his time.Kerrins is still a young lad and from what I remember it was Backie who recommended him and his other signings have been excellent.

I thought after a fairly slow first half, we were immense second half. Gash was the best player on the pitch by a mile and great finish by Hendo. Crowd were superb tonight. Only concern for me is how direct we have gone nobody showing feet for the back four when we are on the ball, everyone just gathering around Gash for the second ball. We will get found out that way.
The reason is that the pitch was bobbly  and every ball we did try to put to feet seemed to take an awkward bounce. With the game played at the pace it was I think Culverhouse decided the direct ball into Gash was the way to go.It was long passing rather than long ball.

Was it not about this time last season IC  copped the hump about the pitch not being able to be worked on after a game due to inclement weather ?

 :rain: :freezing: :dontknow:
He got the hump because nobody had attempted to work on the pitch and it was in exactly the same condition as when they left the pitch the previous game.

Working hard should be a given. To label us as triers is just not accurate.Listen to the Biggleswade manager post match away.He correctly states that we are the best passing team in the league.Kettering are top with a direct game. There are many ways to win a football match.

Good result but some comedy defending and Hawkins very wasteful when he came on.Thought Clunan was mom.So many chances again but we keep trying to walk it in.

So you’re saying we need slippery players to do well, yet you say Hereford had none and won the league?
Exactly Jack.A contradiction in terms. If he'd been lately he would see we have at least 5 or six skilled slippery players as he likes to call them.

Like you said. You've been in your armchair and with what you have just spouted I suggest you stay there. We have plenty of pace and if you'd actually attended lately you would see that Marriot is that slippery striker you so crave.
