I know Gaughran has come in for some stick but to be honest, for a big lad Ward has been unconvincing in the air and don't forget we hadn't lost a game and only conceded a couple of goals up to St Ives when he got injured.Neither of them give me 100% confidence.

Yes and also in the Weymouth game we equalised and a point there would have been a good result.Instead we shipped two goals shortly afterwards.

Correct Mallard. We are playing some good stuff but if you're shipping 3 goals you won't win too many.We need to be more resilient defensively no matter who you have up front. We seem pretty tight at home but a soft touch at the back whether it's Gaughran or Ward partnering Fryatt.I still think we will make the play offs at least.

Thought Parker was excellent and the football for the third goal was quality.Hopefully Clunans injury is not too bad but can't see him playing Sat.The Ref in contrast to the woman ref Sat had a shocker.

Brilliant first half. Not so great second which has become a bit of a pattern in recent games.Just a word about the female ref who i thought was excellent.

General Discussion / Re: Culverhouse Not Happy With The Crowd....

There was some silly old sod near me behind our bench having a pop at not getting the ball forward quicker.Basically talking bollocks.Culverhouse turned to ask him if he wanted to have a go.He responded by saying we should get another manager.I don't blame Culverhouse. The same guy had a similar conversation with Webb.Mind you he probably was right that time.😄

General Discussion / Re: BIG NAMES AND GOALS

What constitutes a 'Big name' Player ?

We have had the likes of Sutch, Joachim, Johnson, Carey, Mulryne, Carey Fleming, Bell,  etc in recent years  with a varying degree of success.

I guess the last ex-pro Striker who was a big hit would be Danny Bloomfield, and real fox in the box.  Teamed up well with a Defty for a while.
Dont think he was a pro.Had great season at Cambs City but  Matt Nolan was a superior player and i think im correct in saying had a better scoing rate than Bloomfield.None beat Kev Ready in my time though.

Dunkley was a physical presence but only scored 11 goals. The last potent strike force we had was Jack and Nolan.

Played for us in UCL.Scored quite a few but was let go for reasons i can't  remember. The play was disjointed because the pitch is dire.A disgrace to be honest.

I agree the back line played well again and Smith did break up things well but we just lack a bit of composure which like I've said is not helped by the horrible bobbly pitch.

Hes no worse than what we've got but no better either.Hilliard is raw and his first touch is woeful at times and Revan is a winger. We need to get someone in if we are going to who can look after the ball better.A target man like Jack was.
