General Discussion / Re: Woeful Linnets fall out of play off places.
« on: March 17, 2025, 10:59:30 AM »
I think we could moan about Saturday all day, but come to think about it , our home form has been dire, Played 20 at home and won 10, the creative players dont seem to feature most weeks, Tommy Hughes is wasted at Lynn, we just want players to chase after a big boot up the field. Two decent wide players, on the bench, no system? Oh there is, but the players on the park are getting it wrong?
Play offs? Dont bother.

One or two seem to think if we had local players its a dead cert we would be back in the UCL. Well I think we could have a good mix of both, local and semi pro, look at the good local talent we have let go on the cheap, players like Joe Taylor, who scored for Huddersfield yesterday, comes to mind.
The biggest disapointment is that we are a full time club, and i for one have yet to see any benefit. As for the manager, well sorry he is nowhere the best in the league, as has been said we seem to set up not to lose, which doesnt work, two good attacking wide players on the bench?  Ive seen enough this season. The club needs a clear out from top to bottom.

I see on the former players page Joe Taylor has signed a long contract with Huddersfield Town, please tell me we arranged a sell on fee? Or will we get nothing?

Its a shame we never got to see "joe", the word is that SC is no longer pulling the finance strings?

Forget the good away wins etc, the points dropped at home will cost us a playoff place, for a full time team we looked poor and its not for the first time.

General Discussion / Buxton Saturday.
« on: October 18, 2024, 08:46:38 AM »
I have connections with the Buxton area, and have been informed that their manager is under pressure to start getting results. They are now full time and it has not gone well, league form has dipped badly. We have the chance to improve the goals for column and the same applies next week against Oxford City. So lets go for it . Would like a 3-0 win in front of 850 fans.

Our manager said in the post match chat, that sometimes you have to win ugly, well apart from the first game it all been ugly. The only football being played is from players like Hughes, who doesn't seem to fit. Much more and my season will be over, not impressed, and have not been for weeks. Anybody else agree?

Why not try Coulson as a striker for a few minutes.  Not for the first time we put our selves  under pressure  with the wrong subs. Let's keep trying to go forward.

Im surprised that the gates are up, because with the exception of the first game, i have not been impressed with the football being played, ok we have picked up points on the road, but against teams below us or around us. We seem to have returned to the "lump it up the field " , we have good players at the club , players like Hughes, who get 10 minutes if they are lucky, but if we go out of the cup next week, and we could , not many will turn up to see a team that offer little up the front. Just a quick well done to those who travelled yesterday, I know conditions were poor, but you derserve better, it sounds like Jones (not for the first time ) kept us in the game.

General Discussion / Our manager.
« on: September 09, 2024, 04:21:29 PM »
SC said at the time ,"we have the best manager in the league", I wonder if his opinion is still the same? Our 1st game against Warrington we were good, but was it a false dawn? I think we are looking at a mid table team, our most creative player IMO is Tom Hughes, for some reason a late sub almost every game when we need something different to kicking it anywhere. Is he the best manager? Every home game 1000 plus, we deserve better. Full time? Hardly!   Comments please?
